As you all know the initial one-month fee for faction areas were 5 million, but we're reducing the cost by 50%. Whilst we're waiting for the mechanical change to come into effect, we're happy to offer a temporary solution where you will be reimbursed 2.5 million when starting on your faction area. Please poke a DM online for this. We hope this change will help those who plan on setting up their own faction.

When the mechanical change does come into effect we'll let you know.

The Team has updated (and fleshed out a bit) the building requirements for module changes via the "Funds Chest" storage system. As always, the physical resources need to be stored in your funds chest. When you have everything gathered, construction can begin in steps. We have decided this so that projects don't begin and then never become fulfilled for whatever reason (players leaving, etc.).

Here's a link to the fully fleshed-out new construction guide for module changes!

If you have any questions, just let us know!

The special character post which describes available requestable special characters has been updated with the following note:

Players can play one "Complicated" special character of the same type at any given time, with a one-time mulligan available (but no DC refunds) if the player doesn't enjoy the character as expected.

It now also indicates the difference between a Complicated special character request and a Medium special character request.

The Team had further discussion on the matter of Dragon Disciples due to many questions brought up by players. Here are the decisions we made:

  • No removal of Dragon Disciple levels after level 8. This is due to the wings (or whatever trait you choose otherwise) growing in and the Intelligence enhancement at level 9, which symbolize the first major culmination of mental and physical acceptance of the character's lineage. (This is for characters made on or after April 6th, 2020. Characters made prior to this will still be able to willfully remove levels if the RP is appropriate, up to level 10.)
  • We have a DM NPC who can facilitate the removal of Dragon Disciple levels, when the RP is appropriate and falls in the above guidelines. As with all such situations, it will require a rebuild request. The NPC will make herself available to the character in question when needed, following an approval.
  • Dragon Disciples can be stripped of Dragon Disciple levels by the same NPC, if the Team deems it necessary. This will not be done lightly and will only occur if the Team approaches a player about the lore conflict and the player refuses to amend for the sake of server lore continuity. Please refer to the guidelines listed here if you're uncertain about Amia Dragon Disciple lore.

Previously, the ruling for Levitation, Dancing Lights, and Faerie Fire widgets for drow required that the drow was an UD drow. This restriction is no longer in place and any drow is able to request them in their original forms. See this post for more information.

Strictly UD drow PCs are also able to request enhancements to these basic abilities, provided there is supporting RP/training. Further announcements regarding these UD drow goodies (and noble-born goodies) will come soon.

The DM Team information on the Personnel Page has been updated to include Settlement/Region assignment information. This is for your benefit, so you know who to contact if you have a question about a particular area of the server!

Because some people have asked, we've adjusted the definition of our Dev DMs (the pretty blue ones here) and wanted to clarify it for you guys.

These are DMs who specialize in server maintenance and development. They're your point of contact for technical problems, bugs, and module changes. Additionally they may run occasional events, but to a lesser extent than other DMs.

This role will continue into the EE forums and server.

Also Raua and I have moved over to that role for now. Mine is probably more temporary than hers, though, given it's EE setup that's eating my time. And we still do plots/events! So don't worry! They just won't be as numerous (as you might have noticed in my case).

This is a general reminder of one of our rules regarding factions, as it has come up multiple times recently:

Players cannot have more than one character in any single faction.

For example: you cannot have one character who participates in Faction events and leadership, and a second one who participates in gathering resources, soliciting new members, or ordering around other members of that faction. You can have more than one character who live in the same settlement as a faction, but only one of those characters can be involved in faction-related activities. There must be a full disconnect from all other alts in aiding your other character's faction in any way. You can still roleplay with these faction members, but you cannot partake in activities that effectively aid your other character by aiding the faction they are involved with.

You can see the ruling here, if you like.

On OOC ConductThe team would like to remind the community that rumormongering, the intentional spread of misinformation or misgivings falls under our rules against harassment and as such will receive metered disciplinary action. This type of behavior tends to be difficult to notice directly, however chronic behavior becomes evident as time goes on. We would like to remind our players that we take the health of our community seriously, and wish to foster an environment with transparency and fairness. Concerns may be brought to any staff member, but remember we do discuss problems as a team. Please treat one another with the respect you would expect in return. Venting can be healthy, but is no cover or excuse for malicious behavior and attitudes.
