Ok, help in choices and\or order, full wizard, not a spellsword

Feats
21 Mummy Dust
23 Epic Spell Focus Abjuration
24 Greater Ruin
26 Mage Armor
27 Epic Spell focus Evocation
29 Hellball
30 Great Int (to make Int even) or Epic Spell focus Necromancy or Spell penetration

Any recommendations greatly appreciated, first mage here.

Thanks, Dan

Always get the even intelligence.

I'd drop Hellball for your spell foci.

Mage Armor pretty effective, does that need to move up on the list?

Doesn't really matter when you get it as long as you do get it.

For a caster mage, my ranking from most to least important would go:

Mummy Dust (tank, damage, long-lasting)
Epic Spell focus Necromancy (necro has it all: save or screwed [wail, finger], crowd control [fear], damage [horrid wilting])
Great Int (boost all DCs, get a spare spell or two)
Greater Ruin (boss-killing)
Mage Armor (+5 armor/deflection/natural/dodge - frees up powers on gear)
Epic Spell focus Evocation (not a lot to say for it, I think it really only boosts one or two Bigby spells, in general reflex blasting spells are garbage)
Epic Spell Focus Abjuration (a good focus, but in general it won't come into play too often in PvE just grinding xp to 30)

My list usually depends on the concept but it's always got these:

Epic Mage Armor
Greater Ruin
Epic Spell Focus
Great Fortitude
Mummy Dust

Mummy dust can be substituted with Dragon knight if you focus conjuration and prefer a pvp asset with more cited control factor, but you can also take it without the focus if you expect to win fights fast. It's great for nullifying the unprepared fighter because it has a fear aura, and I've even seen it beat other wizards who rolled the unlucky 1 because their saves were high and they got cocky.

Your DC doesn't matter that much because anyone who isn't prepared to beat a minimum of 39 on a fortitude save is usually going to lose, and if a dex build had the required fortitude they will also beat your reflex DC's. Will is to hard to buff effectively for non casters, so it's pretty reliable if they don't mindblank themselves.

You have a lot of spells that cannot be mitigated with savng throws, shoo use them liberally. They work great in most fights and you can always strip mindblanks away in a pinch with Mords.

Remember to always. prepare. timestop.

I've got my standard spread for my cookie cutter Wizard/ranger/Rogue below:

show
21 Epic Fortitude
24 Epic Spell: Mummy Dust
27 Epic Spell: Dragon Knight
30 Epic Spell: Hellball

Wiz 20 Great Intelligence
Wiz 23 Epic Skill Focus: Discipline
Wiz 26 Epic Sell: Epic Mage Armor
Ran 1 Epic Spell Focus

I'm terms of gear, you want lots of int/con/discipline/fort.

Epic Mage Armor will take care of AC so you don't need to worry about that (baring in mind that the Dodge AC from your boots stacks with epic mage armor stacks and is mandatory, and Epic Mage Armor does not account for your shield), and as a second level rogue you will have access to evasion. That means you free up a power slot on your ring finger and can stick MORE INT onto it.

You will also want to wear the care chain mail and shield that amia has so your ac can sit I'm the sixties where it belongs.

Also it's worth noting that I personally take my first wizard level in pre epic levels ago that I capitalize on having a bonus feat at level 20 to even out my int score with.

I'll pop back in if I remember more advice, but that's all I've got for now.

Eh, it's hard to be a playable caster and get 41 DC. To get such a DC, you are going to have to make choices that create a seriously flawed lack elsewhere. Mages, clerics, and other whatsits are generally going to be about 38-39 DC for lvl 9 spells, if they're higher than that, well they're going to be missing something pretty important somewhere that can be exploited.

Honestly I've learned that you don't really need more than a 24 base caster stat if you play well. Higher is nice, but to the detriment of survival. I suppose you could role play that arch wizard concept but I don't see the appeal of being "the best" in role play either.

So its pure personal preference.

Wanted to go "pure" just for the heck of it, but 6 fighter or something would definitely have made his less squishy, well and chose caster route rather than the spellsword.

All of my builds end up slightly flawed anyway, the brew potion feat was a mistake for me, something else would have been much more helpful but will know better next time.
