| Post subject: | Mercenaries and Barracks idea. |
I was wondering if having a Barracks (maybe in Central Cordor) would be a viable option. The barracks being a place for warriors and fighter-types to congregate and collaborate. As well as potentially host an area for NPC trainers or (potentially) hirable mercenaries to assist with low levels. NPC dialogue trainers: wanted to also pitch the idea of having the night-time areas more difficult. IE, Outside Cordor having more goblin patrol at nighttime. - the necesseity for an NPC dialogue to inform you of the difficulty with travelling alone at night (just an idea). Lastly Hireable mercenaries. Thought of having mercenaries to hire for people around low level areas. Each reset the Mercenary starts at level 4 and is trainable to level 6 or 7 for say. Depending on which city theyre located in. Including penalties for using or abusing the mercenary - such as xp penalty or something greater than grouping with people, to only encourage using a mercenary when no other option would be around. Maybe having a thief mercenary in a thiefish area and a fighterish one in a fighter area. I thought this was a viable idea hope you like it too. |

A neat idea as a concept. The stuff with hire-able mercenaries is less likely to happen because of the scripting and balance it would require, but the idea that there could be a PC-run barracks is totally possible. If you're interested in seeing something like that come about I'd suggest looking into the PC housing system and going from there. You may be able to piggyback off of already existing fixtures in Cordor, such as the Gentleman's Club or Adventuring Guild. |
