I play on a Mac using Wineskin. Actually not as buggy as you would think. Toolset doesn't work though, sadly.

If you want a canned solution (not just for nwn, but a lot of windows apps, you can buy Crossover https://www.codeweavers.com/

I do! I use Parallels to run Windows XP in a...window.. on my mac. It's really easy to set up. Then you just install NWN on the virtual windows machine like you would on a normal PC, set it to full screen, and you're good to go. It's a little more involved than wineskin and crossover, but I like the convenience of having two operating systems at hand.

The best part is I didn't need to spend a dime to do it because I'm a dirty pirate.

My old gaming mac went permadeath and new mac scoffs at NWN.
Need to start over. Parallels works? How does that compare to wineskin or crossover mentioned above?
Will be looking up all these to see what they do. But sounds like this could save my bacon.

I've used all 3 and Parallels works best for me. It basically gives you a virtual windows machine that you can open and close with a click. Pretty cool stuff. The other two make it possible to use Windows programs on Mac without needing to open a windows machine, which is a bit more streamlined and quick than Parallels, but it didn't work out for me.

Trying Wineskin on my newish Macbook Pro, and could use lots of help. :(

Installed Wineskin, downloaded a wrapper for NWN, bought the Diamond edition on GOG and installed in the wrapper. But then it didn't work: starts up with black screen, then config utility dialogue box asks for resolution and quits. I modified the nwn.ini file to disable the intro movies per instructions.

I think it has something to do with the wineskin not recognizing my video drivers, specifically the nwn.config file (copied & highlighted relevant part):
Quote:

Does anyone know a good resource for help with Wineskin on Mac?

Thanks.

I just loved my 2007 Snow Leopard MacBookPro and Mac NwN.
Then I bought a new rig in 2012 (MBP15 2.6 Ghz), moved to Mavericks and got stuck due to the lack of Rosetta.

I tried, I really tried to solve those same Wineskin issues myself... but eventually made the (big) step to install a (55GB) bootcamp partition and run Windows 7 and regular PC version of the game. It works, it simply works, and the Aurora toolset rocks!

(sorry, can't help here but this is a testimonial that there is light at the end of the tunnel for you! :P )

I only ever managed with crossover, but then again I'm not that tech savvy.

I gave in and tried Crossover. Took some figuring out, but it does work. (Even get the toolset).
Now I have access to heaps of PC games thru Crossover. Just what I need.

Edit: How do I select things? The Mac version of NWN, I used command+click. But that's not working.
Say I want to click on my PC to get radial menu or click on an object to get it's description or click on a hot-key box to change it. How does that work in the PC version?

Right click, you can even activate it on the mighty mouse.
