Trying to make a Kobold character.

Cannot enter the starting area to activate my subrace. Get booted after clicking 'Play!' on the character. Can log in on other characters.

Attempted to make character with slightly different stats just in case I've done something weird, but nope.

Halfling with subrace Kobold / kobold (Capitalized and non) used - booted each time.

Whatm' I doin' wrong here?

To make a Kobold you need to do the Following

Step 1: At character creation. Pick halfling as a base, then when that is selected press the Sub-race button down below and type in "kobold" No talking marks obviously.
Step 2: Once in-game click on the Species Assignment globe. Once in that area click on the subrace activator panel. This will boot you.
Step 3: Log back in and return to the Species Assignment room. Talk to the Kobold in there to gain a dynamic model to make yourself the appearance of a Kobold.
Step 4: Return to the starting room and click the globe to enter the game as per normal.

Hope this helps!

The issue I'm having is this:

I get to step 1.

I do everything involved in that part.

I click play.

I'm booted before I can reach step 2.

:(

as in the mirror entry way or as in when you first log in the server you get booted?

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

First login. I click to play, get a black screen, then get punted back out with 'You have been booted.'

Edit: As a note, I can log in on my other characters just fine. Just not anything with the subrace kobold.

Any help at all anyone? :/

Edit: Figured out. You must have something written in the background thing.

No clue, if you chose halfling as your base race and didn't make any typos, it should work.

I was just going to post that I made a male and female variant to see if I could recreate it, but it looks like you figured it out. Something in the bio is required. That just seems weird, but okay, NWN!

I have now ran into a new issue. I can't level up!

[Server] Character has invalid skill ranks.

Author:  Arkun [ Wed, Jan 18 2017, 20:42 PM ]
Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Things attempted:

Verify subrace.

Taking some points in craft trap to see if that helped (Due to not taking any and Kobolds getting a +2 in craft trap..)

Levelling up normally.

All result in 'Character has invalid skill ranks.' and being promptly dumped back to level 1.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Don't increase skill ranks until after subrace confirmation and/or getting to level 3?

Author:  Arkun [ Wed, Jan 18 2017, 20:54 PM ]
Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Attempted subrace verification on new Kobold.

Invalid skill ranks, bumped back to level 1. Will try to hit level 3 and see if that does anything.

Edit: Clarification - Didn't pick any skills until subrace was verified, got same result and de-lev to 1 again.

Note

This is now causing issues with other characters I've tried to create.

I was trying to make a simple elven ranger and I am now receiving the 'Character has invalid skills' error.

I've also got an Elf with 18 dex from level 1 that is just being repeatedly booted.

Is there something wrong with a character in my vault, maybe?

Also: Bump. Now receiving issues on other characters. :(

Tried making a new account.

Still getting the invalid skill ranks error - have spoken with a few people about it and Commie suggested that I may have the following issue:

CD Key might be flagged, tracking an invalid character across accounts, so it must be stored in CD keys.

Could a DM perhaps remove the following characters from my account (Arkun):

These were made in an attempt to find and understand my issue, so, there's a number of them as I tried testing various things (Having dex of 17 instead of 18, trying to level up to 3 before making skill picks, etc)

Kreel
Kreel.
.Kreel.
Xivex
Xivex (Space before name)
Xivex.
La'rail
La'rail Eyther'ghymn
La'rail Eyther'ghymn.

And on account: IAmVecna
.La'rail Eyther'ghymn.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

tried helping this user with their issue. issue persists across accounts therefore something is flagged on their cd-key and needs to be reset on the backend.

as a user i can't fix this, but really think this needs to be addressed quickly as someone is essentially unable to play the game.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Attempted archiving all of the previously stated characters, and made a new character.

Resulted in same error, so I'm really generally unable to level up anything and appropriately apply skill points, it appears.

New character test:

La'rail Eyther'ghymn

Str: 10
Dex: 18
Con: 10
Int: 16
Wis: 12
Cha: -8

Skills:
Discipline/Heal/Hide/MS/Spot/Tumble at 4 at level 1. Attempted to raise to 5 at level 2. This results in the following error:

[Server] Character has invalid skill ranks.

I have however been able to level from 1 > 2 without picking up skill ranks, thinking that if I skipped a level it might fix itself. Attempting to put in skill ranks from 2 > 3 will result in the same error, so I'm unable to level and generally unable to play.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

yeah i think one of your characters was 'illegal' and this somehow set a tag on your cd-key due to it detecting what you did as cheating.

so you just get booted.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Yeah, so I archived all of those to attempt to fix it - I suppose I now need a DM to look at my CD key -- however, I have been levelling a UD Drow, but that's on Server B. Is it a server A only issue? I honestly haven't tested that yet and I'm loathe to run through the gamut of it all over again, been a very frustrating day when you just want to try and get something past level 1.

Any DM's / Devs got any clue?

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

Get rid of everything in your override and try again. Sounds like something in there is causing problems. There's no flag on your CD key, don't worry about that.

Post subject:  Re: Kobold = Booted

I totally stripped my override folder and put in the amia stuff again. Was now able to level up. Thank you very much, Sune.

I totally don't know why it was screwing up - it was basically putting in the same stuff all over again - but, afaik now, it seems to be working fine.

Will test by making a Kobold (The elf levelled up just fine this time!)

Edit: Have now tested with Kobold. Everything is working fine. Very confused, but also very happy. Thank you.
