Cleric19/Monk5. Hobgoblin with the HalfOrc Dynamic Model and the Male Hobgoblin head.

I spoke to DM Dropbear today who helped me clear a "decreased AC" bug which had persisted for many weeks. The solution was DM kill (thanks to some guidance from Tarnus), which eliminated the AC bug. Then I went about my business, visited a shop, changed some gear, changed my spellbook, and rested. When I was done with all that, which took about 10 minutes, the bug had returned and DM Dropbear had logged.

I have no idea why just changing gear and resting should cause such a thing but I'm hoping for some help. Is it my race, my build, my gear? I'm at a loss.

I took off all my gear and validated that the AC listed on the character sheet is lower than it was after being fixed. I had already validated that it wasn't just a character sheet issue but confirmed via combat log.

Ok, confused. I logged off A after the bug returned to post this. 10 minutes later logged onto B and the bug was gone. Then ported back to A and bug is still gone. I guess put this on hold while I see if it returns permanently. Sorry for the semi-false alarm.

Oh. My. God.

I logged off to type my second message above and when I logged back in the AC bug is back. Checked both servers, relogged again, and it's still there.

So, scratch the false alarm and put the real alarm back on. I'm baffled. Help!

Could this be based off the fact that your Monk Wis AC is capped at your Monk levels? This happens to BGs and Pallys as well. If your Wisdom exceeds 20, in this case, it takes away all the AC that you would usually get, except for the 5 you're supposed to have. It was put in to prevent certain builds (like clerics) to get 3 monk levels, and gain a free, stacking, unremovable 10+ AC.

Nope. His base Wisdom is 20 with a +5 Mod and that's all I'm expecting.

I'm not sure what the comment above means, as I'm not counting any value of wisdom above +5 modifier.

Here are the relevant values for Terr with no equipment.

Cleric19/Monk5
Dex: 17 (+3)
Wis: 20 (+5)
Tumble: 25 Ranks

AC:
10 Base
+3 Dex
+5 Wisdom
+5 Tumble
+1 Monk5
24 Total

His naked AC is not 24. It's currently 23 and was 22 during the previous bugging. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Truthfully, unless there is something I am overlooking it might be that our capping scripts are bugging out, devs will need to take a look.

I checked this out in game. As far as I can tell, the missing 1 AC is coming from logging in while wearing +2 wisdom gear, and then it not being calculated properly when it comes to the monk wisdom AC bonus. DM killing/healing works to fix it temporarily.
Also I noted that when his Wisdom was increased past +5, he was still gaining AC despite only being level 5 monk. So something is definitely funky here that needs to be checked on.

Posting the below in case it’s useful to whomever looks into this:

The problem with logging while wearing wisdom gear appears to extend to porting between servers while wearing wisdom gear. This happened just this morning and the decreased AC symbol and bug reappeared. When noticing this I ported directly back where I came from and the bug disappeared. Leathan suggested I try to log off with all wisdom gear removed and this seems to work. I’ll remove all wisdom gear when porting between servers as well to keep this at bay. If you see a naked hobgoblin appear out of thin air please disregard the disrobe.

Yes. That doesn't fix it. Once the bug hits, changing out wisdom gear doesn't remove it.
