While I've found most of this thread absolutely hysterical, I really don't see the need for the continued discussion. The rule change has been put into affect. The DMs/Staff want it this way, it shall be done.
(And God said, let their be light. )
Anyway.
I can see some of the arguments for the torture/gore, but honestly, the DMs are doing the right thing and they've already said no amount of arguing and protest will change it. I'm all for the new rules. It just means people will have to get creative.
Protest, comments, and what-have-you are fundamental concepts to americans. *Shrugs* It'll keep going on until they run out of steam. Who knows, something might change, something might not. Some may like it, some may not. Some may stay, Some may leave, maybe some more will join and maybe some others will pass our server up. It's just how it is. But you can't really silence the masses. :p Just let them vent.

It's also non-profit, which means they don't have to pay attention to thier demographics for anything more than player retention. Granted, I doubt it's an issue considering the player count.
As for the American thing, the ban on Cybering, etc, was based on liability issues original on gounds of U.S. law. It's where I live and draw alot of thoughts from. Still you are correct. People tend to talk anyways regaurdless of country. Just sometimes you can't do it in a public format for fear of being shot.

Numbers, suppressing freedom of expression without good reason is not being a benign dictator. So you fail.
It's silly to lock something just because we don't feel it's necessary or interesting. It might very well be our right, but it's a pointless exercise of power. As long as people remain civil, somewhat relevant and within the forum code of conduct, there's little reason to interfere. Discussion is fun, whether it has a practical goal or not.
As for the legal issues, I believe that was mostly dismissed as an argument. I don't think it played part in anyone's vote, at least not in more than possibly a few. It just isn't a convincing argument.
