Hello fellow Amians,

I would hope that some of you recognize me or remember me. I've played here for several years, and in that time have created some memorable characters (hopefully). Lately, my playtime is exceptionally limited. Also, my ideas for what I want to accomplish are varied, giving me too many choices of character to play.

That said...

I'm curious what others think of these concepts, as far as fitting into Amia as it is currently, and given my limited playtime....

Tristen: Pretty decent Warrior guy, has some history with Wiltun, got married and moved to Cormyr with his wife (but could come back anytime really)

Nimiwae: Gold Dragon Disciple, involved with Kohl, but left for a while and had a bad experience.... fairly open to new things, but still tied to being good I believe

Riddick: Hin cleric of Brandobaris, lower level, fun, barely known really

Jenai: Tymorran Champion and Cleric, easy on the eyes, friendly, but very self centered and selfish, likes to encourage people to do crazy things

Arianna: Sorcerer spellblade, been around for ages, almost sided with Wiltun once, more or less a sarcastic selfish smartass with a bitchy side

That's my top choices of character to play. I'll likely bounce around on some of them to see if anything "sticks". However, I'm open to suggestions, advice, ideas, etc.

Also, if anyone remembers any of my other characters, and has ideas for them? Feel free to let me know. If you don't want it made public, PM's are always welcome.

I remember Raina on top of those that you mentioned. Didn't she have Ranger things to do?

Tristen for me was one of the more memorable characters because he was involved with pretty much everyone and also a new-player-friendly character. Escorting new elves to Winya and all.

I can't give much general advice because I have zero clue about the current plot(s) on the server and how they could relate to your characters.

Yup, Raina was a fun one too. I suppose she could make a comeback. Figures you'd remember Tristen best though, lol, some pretty entertaining moments with Tris and Lyra.

Uhh.. sure, but..... it's a first name.... is it really a problem? Character's name is Riddick Bramblebush.

If I can't use that name.... uhh, sure, I'll get him renamed. DM's? Any input?

I get it, but... there are a lot of char's with first names that have been used IRL. Heck... doesn't that apply to EVERY name technically? If I'd named him just Riddick.... yeah, I can see an issue.

Anyway! DM's.... do I have to change this name?

Technically you don't, of course. It's a real world name, after all, except...

According to the site #1, it is not in the 1000 most popular names. Not really surprising.
And of the site #2, link, it's actually 2,899th. Popularity-over-time graph shows significant increase after movies featuring V.Diesel as titular character came out.

Meanwhile, that is not the reason the character was suggested for future use. The reason being acolyte (Harlequin?) of Brandobaris instead.

PS: Perhaps coincidentally, second site suggests name "Trystan", if "you liked Riddick".

It's just doubly unfortunate because it was a -bad- movie. Makes the name subconsciously associated with suck, no matter how much you're RPing your little heart out.

Well.... I have no wish to be associated with suckitude (even though I kinda liked the movie, lol).... I'll see about having it changed.

If you're asking for suggestions of a new name...

For a halfling, and somewhat in line with a previous one: Shir.

Otherwise, pick a general theme associated with character, associate it RL culture/country/nation, choose one of their names. Or create your own.

No you don't need to changed the name as you have a last name to go with it as well. I think it is fine it would be more of an issue if your name was just Riddick and no last name.

I dig the character Riddick, Pitch Black set it off and i liked how the second movie gave a glimpse of the world outside of the first movie. Anyone who doesn't like the movies is Sketchy Toombs.

Nimiwae seemed like an interesting character what I read about her/him in the PC story place. Get around with her/him again would be my suggestion. Don't let one bad experience ruin the whole experience, get out there and going. I can tell from experience that there will be more bad experiences down the line, but hopefully the good ones you make will make far up for it.

If I was game, I would meet Nimiwae, just to see what the character is about IG and IC.

Plus, the name Riddick is a good one, fits a hin. If someone associates it with a movie, it is their fault not yours. We can't be aware of all the movies out there and what if someone makes a movie and the main character happens to be Rosary Doodlekins? Will she have to change the name then IG?

It would be a pink movie that one, and quite so gay with rainbows, cotton candy and unicorns.

This thread delivers. And I guess I'm Sketchy Toombs (dunno what that mean, actually), because I really don't care about Riddick movies. It's BS to "force" someone to change a name, though, as Mags explained quite well. If I take myself as an example:

Eddie - Hey, he's the black cop from Simpsons. Change the name!
Obsidian - Hey, they're the guys who made Star Wars games, Fallout NV and Nwn 2. Change the name, yo!
Alex - Damn, where should I start... change the name!

... really, comming out with a "unique" name is near impossible. So unless you're calling your toon Drizz't or Elminster I don't really give a f....

Nimiwae.... well, she's an enigma. I must have done something right with her, she's pretty much equally loved and hated I think at this point, that is among those that even know her.

Funny thing about her is she was my "let's test this new RDD stuff", and well, I liked the rp so much she stuck.

At least from my experience, those are also for me the most fun. My other characters are pretty stale, I usually don't deviate from an aspect of my own personality too much. But as soon as I made something that was less for actual RP, and more for building, or something, it's so fun. I think part of it is expectation vs reality. You make a nice build and you expect nice PvE, and don't expect any/much/high quality RP. Means almost anything you get will be better than you expected. But having a nice concept, you go through the whole process of making it, realizing with a build, leveling. After that, you likely (at least I do) have great ideas what your character could do in the world. And it fails. I mean, yes, sometimes it works out, but your imagination will almost 100% be better than reality. This actually makes me wonder whether the question for a special race 'where will your character fit in the world' would be a good thing to ask, or answer... At least for me...
But yeah, sorry for the slight derail.

And it's just my opinion, I honestly don't know you enough to say if you are anything like that, it's just my experience with around 10 alts that turned more fun than my 'designated main', for exactly that reason... Well, and a random build tends to make you stray more from what your 'favorite build/race/whatever'.

Back on topic, the character I've heard about most, and think would likely have most influence or possible influence would certainly be Nimiwae. So she'd have a bonus. (Of course, if I'm being selfish, I don't want more good on the server, especially not extreme good, like a GoldDD)

Otherwise, to be honest, all your characters (even the ones not listed) sound/were pretty interesting in my opinion.
And, if I'm allowed to read a lot into your writing:
