Other than the description change, what does this actually do? The wiki was empty: https://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php?title=OutsiderAnd forum searches didn't bring up anything other than vague comments about them being susceptible to certain magics but no further information on what this means.

Outsiders are prompt to be affected by certain spells, like banishment and word of faith that affect outsiders - instantly killing them on failed saving throw, and so on. You can read more about them on online DnD resources like here >>> https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Genasi

It effectively means, for example, on an elven genasi, you can no longer do things that require you to be mechanically elf: useable items: elf-only, AA, certain things that check your race IG. On the other hand, same goes other way around for outsider: If you have an item that's only usable by outsiders, an elf couldn't use it, but a genasi can, because the NWN race was changed. You count as outsider for a ranger's favored enemy, rather than elf.
Basically anything that goes off racial type goes off 'outsider', rather than the NWN base race. (human, halfling, elf, half-elf, half-orc, gnome)

Also, you're not affected by spells that target "person", such as dominate person or charm person. Because outsiders aren't people, no matter how much they might protest otherwise.

Out general interest then, what would my lycan technically be? Elf, outsider... magical beast?

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes ... gerSubtypeSo it'd be Whatever race you are (Shapechanger subtype), that way you're hit by stuff both relevant to your race and the shapechanger subtype, BUT since NWN only allows one on the character sheet, shapechanger would be the appropriate one.

Another difference from D&D is Half-X always counts as the non-human parent for the purpose of racial effects. Meaning effects that would target an Elf work on Half-Elves.
Doesn't really come into play that much in NWN except for things like Favored Enemy and Bonus vs Racial Type only working if you specify the Half-X race too. Which, in some cases, can inflate an item or effect's value/power. And can lead to rangers that are the Bane of both Orcs and Humans but somehow not their offspring, odd as that seems.
