Post subject:  Big Cordor Update - Look Here! (Also Bug Reports)

Hey, guys!

Today I pushed a massive update for Cordor. With the culmination of the Horde plot, many other plots have come to a head. One of these plots is important for you all on an OOC level, as it has reshaped the starting/hub aspect of our server. I shall explain below!

1. New Start Location
The start location for new characters has been changed to the Wave and Serpent Adventuring Guild House and Inn. Over the next couple months, we'll be introducing new quests and DM plots that will utilize these areas and help to settle the story of the server moving forward. The classic pnp "You find yourself in a bar. What do you do?" is to be our overarching theme, set to grow from there with the help of the players. We hope you are (or will be) as excited about this as we have been! Also, the popular Hil'rash and Tristana merchants are in here. Just look for the Golden Lady Traderoom on the minimap.

2. Cordor Had a Name Change
The East, Central, and West areas of Cordor now have a new prefix: Southport. This is the name given to the settlement by the new NPC faction that has opportunistically taken over Cordor in the wake of the Horde/Dragon Turtle events that left East and South Cordor in ruins. The Monster Ban is gone and the settlement can effectively be treated as a TN area. It is a fledgling city that has a lot of opportunities for growth and player influence. Zoltan will be the primary DM overseeing this, with me as a secondary point of contact.

3. Cordor North is Separate - and Also Renamed
Cordor North IC'ly was not included in West's takeover. They have become an independent village surrounding and protected by the Wave and Serpent Guildhouse. They are a farming community who are still in the process of rebuilding. Most of the traders and job system NPCs can be found here. Okappa's is also back in this area. There is similarly a lot of potential here for player influence and growth here in the future, depending on player interest. Amarice and I will be the main points of contact for things in this area.

The primary take-away from this is that this is part of our restructuring in preparation for our switch to EE. Any new or returning players we get from our move will go through these areas first, and the more of you current players who are there to help them and RP with them, the more delightful their first steps into Amia will be. Now, that doesn't mean we're telling you to stop RP'ing in other places (Looking at you, Bendir Dale.), but we still wanted to let you know that this is the intent, and that in the future there will be a lot of DM utilization in these areas to help promote the Adventure side of the server.

Please Post Bugs or Incorrect References to Cordor Here
These are my primary concerns:
    -Map Notes
    -NPC Dialogues/Descriptions
    -PLC Descriptions

We're not trying to wipe out every mention of Cordor, mind. Historical references aren't a problem. We're mostly just concerned about the things that refer to the location of Southport as Cordor presently. For example, an NPC that says "You should go south to Cordor" is one you should flag if you get a chance. A PLC statue that tells a story about something that happened in Cordor is fine, however. (Also, wait till after this next reset. Many things are being updated that players found already.)

Also, feel free to leave comments about our decision below. We'd love to hear your feedback!

Southport: West. Graffiti by Pinky's is no longer really relevant/needed. Could be removed. -DM EDIT: Gonna leave this for now, since it's graffiti and lends a bit of history to people looking through the area. Might make them wonder what happened.

Southport: East, Interior (Library). Librarian twins incorrectly named Cordor Librarian -DM EDIT: Did this.

frontier rest: trade hall
multiple merchants sell the cordor law book. I doubt its worth more then toilet paper. -DM EDIT: Will fix later. Leaving for now as the merchants IC'ly try to liquidate their stock. (Also requires a module update.)

EDIT 2: This is done now.

Mannequins like to wander when we use the doors on the changing rooms in the Tailor's.

Also some small z-fighting problems with the floor up there.

Okappa's floor lanterns need to not be explodable >.>

Added to ward off ye-olde brain fart.

The cordor South portal wand connection actually is still active. However:

What it does is teleport you to the other server (regardless of the server your on). An just dumps you there, meaning your last location you where on the other server (or entry room if you have not been there this reset).

You can kina abuse this to for example quickly sell or resupply stuff and back you your hunting location.

Hope this was clear :)

Unfortunately, we can't fix that for you. It's on the players to clear their wands of stuff that doesn't exist anymore.

Not so much a bug as a minor... irritation! Both the butcher and the dairy farmer are hanging around by the road, outside the wave and serpent. The butcher literally has a house across the road with a butchers block outside that he always use to stand by... though I guess he could be comforting the dairy farmer, seeing as that guy no longer has a home, nor any cattle!

Just seems odd they are stood where they are, seems rather... unnatural.

There is an helmet called the 'Cordor Barbute', which references the old regime in the description too. I'm not sure how strict the re-brand is but I thought I'd bring it up just in case.

The loot items "Colonial Helmet" (helm) and "Edge of Elsewhen" (short sword) also reference Cordor in their descriptions, if we're looking at that sort of thing.

As mentioned, historical references are fine. If you have those particular items and can read them to make sure they're just historical, it would save Devs time.

the amia starters guide in the journal mentions cordor a few times as a place to go to, also suggests quests that no longer are around.

there is a shrub in "amia frontier: north" that gives black root that refers to bringing it to the tailor in cordor.

Note the blackroot can still be turned in at the tailor shop in the trade hall :)
