In a massively powerful storm that happened just a week ago in Cordor, the central plaza was wracked by an intensely powerful series of lightningbolts, centered directly on the plaza square. Causalties were unavoidable and include two guardmen, one janitor, and a raving man who spoke about shields and spears before getting fatally struck by lightning, as well as several curious adventurers.
As the storm progressed, the bolts of lightning began boring down into the palza eventually breaking through the concrete, and revealing a way down into the Underpassages, where a large floating shield could be seen. Shortly after the shield became visible, there was a large twinkling shattering sound from below, and the standing bodies of two adventurers were seen standing amidst the rubble of what appeared to be a large ritualistic device aimed at the shield, along with the bodies of several cultists, later identified as Talosian Cultists. The Shield itself remained floating, except for one large crack down the center. Any attempts to retrieve the shield from midair were reflected and halted.
The Duke made a public address about the shield, assuring them that the WeatherShroud, the fabled guardian relic of Cordor, whose original purpose was to be placed there so as to guard the city against the Cult of the Furies, to ensure that another Fall would never occur... would be quickly repaired, and the hole in the center of Cordor would be sealed up. Until then, the area was cordoned off by the Guardsmen to as to assure that the adventurers who insisted on jumping at the water in an attempt to grab the WeatherShroud, could not continue to do so.
The Duke has directed all complaints and questions to the Cordorian Guardsmen, and assures that there is a full and ongoing investigation into the Cult's ability to get beneath Cordor, and their whereabouts so that they may not continue to attack the WeatherShroud and endanger Cordor.
