The cold was powerful, almost gruesome as it whiped over the lands. Animals had taken refuge in caves of wherever they could find to block out the killing chill. Those that didnt froze to death!

The Chieftan watched as the Shaman purposefully changed the weather and smiled. He could feel the warm breeze blow in as the Shaman adjusted the rune stone, then a cold one when the Shaman turned it around. In a language few knew he praised the Shaman for first finding such an item, then second for knowing how to use it.

Days past and the winds became colder, more forceful in the caves. How could the Chieftan mount and deploy his troops if they wouldnt survive the journey.

The Chief busted open the door to the Shamans sanctuary and his eyes went wide. The room was waist deep in snow, the Shamans hands were frozen to the rune stone, the Shaman himself frozen solid. The Chief cursed and tried closing the door but the weight of the snow prevented that.

Within a few days the cold winds began to blow through the usually warm tunnels. A week later the snow was knee high inside the caves and spreading.

Outside the cold winds howled throughout the lands, hampering all efforts of travel.
