Those intimately familiar with the woods of the Central Amian Forest, might notice a sparse few less trees, fresh tree-stumps in their place. The stumps bear the telltale mark of an axe: This was clearly the handiwork of humans.
The trees that were selected were spaced far apart, and undergrowth around them cleared out.
A trail of dragged timber leads up the mountain pass towards the village of Guldorand.

Now, what in the hell...Why would they do this?

*Amith, spending time in Guldorand as a sawyer, notices an increase in logs come into the town.*
"I've always cut logs in a sustainable manner...something's wrong here...there are way more logs than in a standard season...far more than the forests could replace."
She heads off to speak with the locals to find out where the timber has come from and why so many more logs are arriving in the town for what purpose?

Among dockworkers in Cordor a slightly altered version is quickly being spread, in which it undoubtedly was a small troupé of winyans who had been doing the forest thinning.

Having been sent word about this situation, Warrick quietly examines the forest trying to gauge if there has been any damage done above and beyond what would be expected in a typically controlled logging operation, making use of his knowledge as an apprentice Lumberjack to aid him.

Rizzen shares his thoughts of a possible conspiracy from a third party, mostly with Willow, but a few others were around. He thinks that someone is wanting to take advantage of the already delicate situation to bring Guldorand at war with Elves and the Grove.

The already ill Kythra, after this event, seems to be in even worse condition. She rarely leaves the Hinn Inn, which she and Ardaria were simply supposed to be staying one night in.

The giant trees now even grow healtier thanks to the proper cutting. The trees which were cut were younger and already nearly dying under the branches of the large old-growth trees.
They also made sure not to cut too many trees. Maybe around 8. The trees around the large sinkhole were untouched, so there is no danger of it expanding.

Eow takes note of the recent removal of timber and frowns... "The woods are in a weakened state and the removal of these trees is ill-timed" he mutters aloud and regards the crushed vegitation indicating the path by which the timber was dragged away. In the wake of the logging can be seen a broken nest and the eggs laid inside it. It also appears that in one area the stream bank has collapsed under the weight of logs and the stream has eaten away at the bank. Eow shoves a willow cutting into the bank in hopes that the tree might root there and strengthen the earth from the water's current.
Eow resolves to investigate the timber harvest and ask that future effots by loggers be placed on hold for the time being. He removes his warmest cloak from a pouch and begins the journey towards Howling Pass.

Willow would be quite angry at the blatant disregard for the Duir Council by the loggers. She sends no word and takes no action though. Not yet, anyway. She would also be disappointed at the letter she receives from Malandria. She trashes the letter, finding it rather spineless.

Rikkudai sends up a prayer to Silvanus, rubs Khans ears and plants several saplings taken from stronger areas of the forest all while shaking his head.
He follows the logging trail, keeping to the edge of the shadows, listening to the cries and shrieks of birds, as their homes are taken.
His heart is saddened.
Rikkudai goes to the Chapel of Hoar and asks a superior what stance he can take.

A masked Ranger comes upon the scene, shrugs, and walks on to his own woodcutter axe resting on his shoulder.

Upon the area where the trees have been cut down, a mutilated corpse of a human lays on one of the tree stumps. His limbs, almost poetically, have been severed by his own woodcutter axe which lays imbedded in his torso. Several ravens can be seen feasting upon the bloody remains.
If investigated, the different dirt on his body, and also the large bump on his head created by a small blunt device, indicate he was dragged there from somewhere else. Most likely from the higher mountainous areas of the Skull Crags.

Coming upon the body, the aforementioned masked ranger shakes his head in disbelief, makes a sharp whistle, and is joined by two other men wearing garbs that matches his own, all hooded and masked. Togheter they construct an improvised stretcher, and carries the body to Wharftown, where they pay for the mans (hopefully) ressurection, as well as offering their apologies for the obvious injustice the man has been subjected to.

As the slain mas is beyond help, the three man carry him back to Guldorand, and deliver his body and belongings to locals there, who recognise the man as a young lumberjack who they say has never harmed anyone. The masked Ranger makes sure to tell the full tale, from discovery to arrival in Guldoran, as well as offering his sympathy with any relatives the man might ahve.

Anyone travelling through the general area of the Amia forest would find a large area around the potion brewer's hut which obviously have been razed by a powerful surge of fire. There is little evidence to see on what exactly started the fire yet the ravaged and scorched ground leaves little doubt as to what the effects were.
