Amia, an island torn by war and grief, has known its fair share of battle and bloodshed. An island that, left shaken to its core by recent events, has set itself on the struggling course to mend and make whole.

____________________________________________________________________

Recently, news has spread of odd sightings on the horizons of smaller, coastal settlements. Each sighting is linked by similar reports.

These sightings have taken place in the early and darker hours of dawn. Occurrences taking place on the first and then the fifth day of the last tenday, where witnesses reported a dense fog moving along the waters near Kampo's Storehouse and the waters just outside of Wharftown's territorial boundaries. Nothing strange, in and of itself, but a black shape found in the midst of the rolling fog has given denizens cause for alarm.

Witnesses swear that they have seen a dark ship, shrouded within the fog, and bearing the hallmark of blood red banners striking along the imposing figure of the ship. A description that some in the know find reminiscent of "Amian Visitors" that have plagued the isle's shores in the past.

With Amian reconstruction still so fragile, many are calling for a wary watch on the seas.

A moon elf lady wearing flowing orange silk gown. A fine wooden staff, with a green orb resting on the top, in her right hand and her hair tied to a elaborate bun into the back of her head, made way to Kampos after the word reached her. Pair of emerald eyes with golden flecks looked around with sharpness that could have rivaled that of an eagle. After a while of watching out to the sea, the lady moved to work.. Components were produced from her pouch of ingredients and soon her hand weaving spell gestures that were accompanied with soft spoken dragonic words. The noblewoman was obviously intending to investigate the matter further.

A lone War Knight begins making the rounds of the coastal villages in the early morning hours after hearing the rumors in Wharftown. Watching the waters off shore for a time, then moving on to the next village. Making notes of her observations. While in each settlement she talks quietly with the fishermen coming in from their night fishing or the ones going out for the morning schools.

A certain mage begins making his preparations. Wharftown hums with magic and the sound of hammer and anvil. One evening, under the cover of darkness and invisibility, with eyes enchanted to pierce illusion, that same mage wades out into the harbor. Potent arcane syllables are murmured, and flesh shifts and changes. With a heave and the crack of wing membranes, a large, invisible black dragon takes to the air. He circles the town under his protection once, then glides out over the sea, heading off to investigate the ships personally from the safety of the air.

Efforts to scout the surrounding waters or open sea for sight of the spotted craft seem to turn up no tangible results as of yet. The fog enshrouded craft left with the fog and, to those scouting for its whereabouts, seems to have vanished on the wind.

For the past ten-day there have been no sightings. As of yet, there has been no new cause for fear.

Every few days, for a brief time at night near Wharftown and occasionally but not as frequently in Silent Bay, strangle flickering blue points of light can be soon moving about underwater offshore, barely discernible except to those of sharp eyes. The lights seem to approach any ships that come near these areas but then stay outside of bowshot of them before moving on after a short time spent circling at long range. After a while, they would simply vanish.

Soon following all this anguish, those in Cordor's docks may find their eyes drawn to Tarkuul at the echoing sound of war drums. The black silhouette of sails on a ship lit with neither torch nor magelight blotting out the stars on the horizon, as it makes a course south of the island and disappears into the starlit oceans.

Alarms abruptly sound on the decks of two Kohlingen war ships patrolling the waters on either side of the Amian isle. The men and women aboard rush to take battle positions along the ship's deck, wary of the strange sightings on the horizon.

This Kohlingers report back that two black ships are spotted out at sea. Both are sighted at dusk, on the exact same day. One well off the Eastern Coast and the other off the Western Coast of Amia. Off the coasts of Wharftown and Kampo's, respectively. Each of these ships stays well on the horizon, far away from the prying eyes of those living or traveling either coast, but the Kohlingers that spotted these ships observed each was wreathed in a shroud of fog.

Any pursuit that was laid yielded no results, as if the Kohlingen vessels were chasing fog itself. Both vessels return to their patrolling positions, but this new development creates more disturbing questions about these visitors.

The motley seaside town once again sees itself put on high alert by the guard Captain Alanna. What mages from the Kohlingen guard are left are asked to take shifts watching the coast with True Sight, and spots along the nearby coast known to be gentle enough for docking are requested to be watched carefully by Wharftown's Scouts. Battle preparedness drills are enacted by the Captain once again, the guardsmen and women pushed until they are able to respond to a warning call with speed and efficiency.

Though she attempts to hide it, and her crash-course in military leadership during the war with Amn helps to mitigate most of it, the Captain has once again grown tense in anticipation. She is firm and scrutinizing when watching drills, and occasionally accompanies Scout divisions on their patrols, providing magical support (though it occasionally ends up with her accidentally summoning a Water Elemental, who she affectionately refers to as "Bobby", instead of whatever spell she meant to cast).

Overnight, savage raiders landed on shore near the Cliffside Village. With Kampo's storehouse under lock down, a bloody battle took place just outside of the storehouse's boundaries.

Wave after wave of savage warrior was beaten back and felled by the adventurer defenders ashore. A morning ushered in by the clash of steal and the smoldering fires of battle. - After a final landing was thwarted, the Reavers were forced back to sea under heavy pursuit from a Kohlingen Man-of-War and what appeared to be a dragon in the air.

Impeded by a whirlpool that it forced its way through, the fog enshrouded craft made it's way to the open water, disappearing like billowing smoke to lick its adventurer inflicted wounds.

As the raiders vessel turned to retreat. A call was made at the beach by moon elven woman. "Arcanists, gather! We will attempt strike it with fireball! Swiftly!" A tone of urgency upon her soft voice, yet taking certain degree of command. Three elfs, one halfing and human arcanist moved to form a circle. Some might recognize the mages gathered as Minyahh, Loxy, Rosary, and the two Le'Quella sisters. Together the five mages instantly started channeling the arcane energy of the Weave, a circle casting had been initiated. The arcanists attuned to each others casting, working in unison to increase the potency of the spell being casted. Arcane energies swirling around them, gathering into a large bright sphere above them. Suddenly the energy was released, a huge fireball was launched towards the fog and whatever lied within it. A massive explosion took place, a cracking sound of wood and iron rushed over the sea.

After casting the circle spell, the mages seemed to take a moment of breath. The fatigue of casting was visible upon each of them. Yet, together they agreed to second casting, after a small debate of best course of action. Instead of fireball, the mages set on disjunction spell, aiming to remove the fog forming around the vessel. This time the five casters were joined by a person some might recognize as Beldor. Channeling the arcane energies, a bright light surrounded them. Soon being released upon the enemy, just to see that it was beyond the distance. Instead the spell was released upon the empty sea. The second casting almost made the leading moon elf fall down, her knees visibly shaking under her weight. She was leaning upon her staff for support, breathing heavily. Soon to make her way to close by tree to sit down. Obviously the great castings had issued their toll upon her.

Later on it was confirmed that the mages, indeed, had manages to strike the ship, starboard hull had received some damage. Even though the severity of it was uncertain.

Standing among many Izariel looked around. This was chaos, the field itself was covered in blood. What are these things he thought? They fight like they are possessed. Then once more the roar of battle came as more waves pulled in. Someone had called them Reavers and they most certainly making their move. Looking around he noticed that people were being cut down from the numbers and that soon if this kept up the vanguard of adventures of all sort would not hold. He looked behind him and saw the mages getting equally clustered. It was time, he had to do it.

"We have to form two lines! If we don't form two vanguards we will fall. Everyone split into two and stick to your lines."

He shouted among others doing so. This is something he thought he would not have to do. Regardless we were better to organize then to die.

"Mages and Clerics in the second line. Some fighters give them cover incase our line breaks. Warriors with me up front and hold the line. Make sure none of these bastards get past us. Target the mages and carve a path!"

His holy blade out and covered in blood already. Others joined in as he watched the elven nobles take control of the second vanguard. This was out best bet. We hold and brace pushing these numbers back. If we can to buy time for the mages to hit the ship. Satisfied with his form of thought the plans were in motion. We had to buy time for Tuomas and those who went with him to rally the ships of Kohlingen. If these lines broke it would only be a matter of time before innocent people would become their next victum.

Blow after blow was struck and after receiving a heavy onslaught of magic that crippled part of the forces. The allies recovered and held strong. All we could do was buy time for our mages and the ships and so that is what we did. So the adventures fought bravely and valiantly as a team. Until the battle ended. Then everyone took rest and licked their wounds while the corpses of their foes burned in a large pile.

The sun rose early this morning, setting the sky ablaze in shades of red and orange. Flickering clouds and wisps of white looked more like the licking flames or fire than atmospheric fluff. Far to the east a storm continued to rage on, clouds as black as the night that had just come and gone.

Along most of the Eastern shores of Amia, the tides seem to have turned an odd shade of red. Foamy, crimson waves break upon the sands of the embattled island, depositing black, wooden debris on her beaches, mixing with so much driftwood and debris.

The sea's predators had fed well last night, well indeed.
