Rumors begin circulating in the local taverns around Amia that the roads may hold dangers yet again. This time, a group of travelers had apparently been found eaten in the boglands west of Kohlingen!
The bodies were, according to the rumors, gnawed down to the bone and the scene had apparently been so disturbing that the person who found them has refused to leave his room in Mayfield's since and reportedly has been ordering spirits by the bottle on the hour since.

Having ventured not too long ago into the boglands and beyond, a quiet Drowess kept a particular attention for the rumors of the event circulating around the Tritemple - where she had been staying for some time, now. Likely bored out of her mind or otherwise, she silently slipped away from her caretakers and ventured to Mayfield's.
With half of her face swaddled in a bandage, she did her best to look fine for the occasion. Searching for the poor surface man who was now drinking himself to an early grave.

The young woman called Mary observes the man from afar as he drowns himself in spirits, her usual serene calm lined with concern. She notes the unfamiliar drowess, when she inevitably comes across her, but does not approach her yet. Instead, she makes a mental note to come back when the man is less shaken. There is information to be had, but it will require a delicate approach.
// If anyone wants to join in on things, we're gonna be around in about ten hours from now (roughly 3pm EST) to follow-up in-game with this plot hook! All who can come to Kohl normally are welcome!

Following a strange chain of events during the following day, a pair of Silver Dragons were posted by the door of the room the man had occupied during his stay in Mayfields.
Speculations begin circulating that he had been a criminal of some sort, others say necromancy was involved. Then again, someone always says necromancy is involved.

The Rogue Elf Sylveera Guststride was part of the expedition to solve these issues with the attacks. Afterwards she would scout with her animal companions and familiars down the route towards Winya and warn the Elves of the issues with the ghouls, telling them of the elven man that lead the Ghoul packs and how it spread like an plague.

The young Squire of the Defenders pf Kohlingen can be seen pilling up corpses of several creatures muttering a prayer and setting them alight. Afterwards, he moves to the Temple at Kohlingen to get a check up and spend the rest of the night alongside the west path on Kohlingen. http://vvcap.com/m9AIrRe6LMp

The usually serene Mary of the Kohlingen Defenders was a-flutter this evening. After taking a group upstairs to question the man with the eyewitness testimony, she left with her group of do-gooders to tend to whatever it was they decided had been wrong. Some time later, she raced back across to Mayfields, alone. She didn't pause to speak to anyone, and just made her way upstairs.
Some excitement and other swift arrivals later, she left again, only for guards to be posted upstairs where the man had been staying.
She remained calm and once again serene when she returned nearly an hour later and spoke quietly with Bill so that he would know what exactly had happened in his inn, and to gather as much information about the man in question as he could provide. She quickly sought to quell any rumors about the man being a criminal, however, by answering any she heard with a counter: the man had been a victim, and it was their duty to honor him. His help with their investigation into the boglands, she said, had been invaluable.
She then urged anyone traveling to refrain from taking the western routes for the time being. "Just in case."

Following the same events, and after ensuring remains of the elven victim from the incident were properly cared for at the Temple of the Triad, Marcus Valis would take to a bit of research. The young half-elven noble would take to combing through the Seven Stars library, for any works or references to the demipower Doresain.
Depending on the fruit of his efforts, the search would be expanded beyond the Mystran library.

After a visit from several adventurers to Wharftown, the militia is placed on heightened alert and extra shift rotations are added. The citizens are warned away from going on expeditions or trips unguarded for the time being due to a possible threat of undead attacks.
One of the militia members are seen in deep mourning as he spends the following days staring out into the ocean and supported by his friends following the loss of his older sister and her family.

The Squire Rafe could be seen on Tristan's Path keeping guard for several hours, during his shifts on the path that leads to the swamp.

Missives are sent from Kohlingen, signed by Mary of the Defenders, to the following locations: Winya Ravana, Cordor, Wharftown, Bendir Dale, Guldorand, Barak Runedar, Kampo's Storehouse, and the Shrine of Eilistraee. Similar missives can be found on the notice boards in the form of an announcement warning travelers, merchants, citizens, and adventurers alike. The missives to the various settlements and travel hotspots warn of unusual Undead activity along the northern and western coast of the Amian isle. This Undead activity appears to be linked to multiple civilian casualties, and Mary expresses it to be extremely dangerous for typical travel. She urges extreme caution, and for adventurers to travel in groups of three or more in the affected regions: the Boglands, Quagmires, the Gulf of Lumorier, and everywhere in between.

Those that travel along the northernmost coast of Amia would discover an alarming number of humanoid, lizardmen & animal bones scattered in the area. It seems that whatever is festering in the area is gaining more traction, and that whoever or whatever it is.. it is hungry.

There is activity in Kohlingen and in her allies, as word spreads among the goodly people of the isle...
// Gathering for more plot shenanigans in an hour! Come one and all! Doesn't have to be just Kohlingen PCs, of course.

With over two dozen hearthguards from Barak Runedar and an equal amount of Silver dragons guarding the borders of Kohlingen and Wharftown, a contingent of adventurers set out from Wharftown to strike at the heart of the devouring swarm.
A few hours later, the adventurers can be seen returning to their respective home cities, exhausted and battered but alive. It would appear that the day had been won.
