A shepherd and a small flock of sheep stroll around the grassy area between Nexus Falls and the north of Amia Forest. A feint buzz can be heard coming from the darkness of the forest. The shepherd doesn't take much notice at first, he's heard plenty of animal and insect activity around this area, it has always been an area alive with all kinds of fauna and flora. Sometimes he even took the flock into the forest to let the sheep graze on the rich and abundance of plants that grew there. He was good at taking care of the flock and proud of his job.

The buzzing grew louder. The shepherd frowned and looked into the trees that lined the edge of the forest.

Bees.

The shepherd hurries and moves his flock as fast as he can to the safety of the water. A few slow sheep straggle behind and the bees viciously attack, stinging the animals. In a panic, the shepherd calls for help to anyone who can hear. He's lucky enough to have a traveller respond to his desperate cries. The two fight off the bees and save the flock this time, but the bees return only a few days later. And this time there's more of them.

// Aiming for 12pm GMT (noon) Sunday July 1 and I'll be around for 2 hours. I'll postpone if there's low (or no!) players.

The Shepherd was relieved when the diverse group of adventurers arrived just as more aggressive bees swarmed out of the forest and attacked. The adventurers didn’t hesitate and took chase, eradicating the swarms and following them deeper into the forest.

The adventurers followed the trail of bee swarms and eventually came to a fallen tree. The bees had hidden their hive deep within a hollow of the trunk and it had only been exposed after the tree had been broken open. Whatever had done this hadn’t left many clues, there was so much damage. The surrounding flowers had been trampled and even an adjacent tree had been damaged in the attack. The hive’s honey had been taken and the few bees which remained stayed close to protect their Queen.

The adventurers noticed that the bees seemed to like the scent of the honey, perfume and the flowers. But none of these would supply the bees with a source of food. Only the sun, rain and time would restore the flora that the adventurers helped to replant.

Was this just a natural part of the ecosystem's cycle, or was something more sinister at play? Whatever or whoever had done this didn’t leave many clues other than the trampled flowers and the missing honey. Perhaps the bees will simply restore their home and honey supplies once the flowers have regrown and life in the forest will be back in balance. Or perhaps the culprit will return.

// Thanks for being patient with me! Stay tuned for part 2 – I will advertise a time when we have one sorted!
