Hey I think it would be neat if there was a way to turn off Monk Speed using some feat or something so you could RP walk next to people less awkwardly.

There's a ring in a crypt on Caraigh, it's made specifically for monks, for that reason, enjoy!

Can't you just wear like, a chain shirt with a robe appearance, to slow down? :p

That's what I'm doing atm, but it takes a lot of inventory space. The ring is neat though I'll definitely look for that. Also Monks don't start with armor prof other than robe, so they might not have the opportunity to wear light, medium or heavy armor to slow themselves down.

This is a hak level change from what I understand, so atm the armor thing is all we got.

well... you can also use your left click of a mouse button... depending how small or long you make the arrow you can control how slow or fast your character moves when holding it down... Depending on how close the toon is to the cursor.

What PS said, and also... it's just part of being a monk.

An Olympic athlete doesn't sprint at 150% speed at all times.

Well... let's slow down barbarians too, and don't master scouts move more quickly in wilderness areas? My point is this: A lot of changes are being made, and I don't feel they're all good ones. When we start applying too much reality to a GAME, we are bound to want changes left and right.

Monks move more quickly than others. That's just a fact of the class. There are ways to counter this as stated. Either wear armor (if you can) or, get something really heavy and keep it in a bag of holding, removing it when needed to walk slow.

We don't need to change haks, or scripts to make monks move more slowly. I'd call that a waste of dev time. But that's just me.

this does not require a hak using the lua function Terra put in, provided there is a reverse way to get speed that matches the preset based on monk level, but because of that, it is a bit involved to implement correctly. Also, speed would only adjust upon re-login, making the solution kind of hacky at best.

So you're telling me a monk is incapable of walking any slower than max zoomspeed all the time? That's absurd.

Clickin close to your character gives you jerky stuttered animation, especially with a very fast movespeed. It is also not precise, prone to pathfinding issues, among others.

You've missed the entire point of the situation, which is that monks move so quickly it can be negatively impacting on RP, and a needless OOC frustration.

just dc request a bunch of 100lbs rocks and put them in and out of bags of holding until you get the speed you want at that moment.

yes it's a trashy solution but it literally works.

Or i can just take the feat off completely? Can do that.

Edit; to elaborate further, it'd be possible to make something to toggle the feat on and off by taking it away and putting it back on. No relogging required.

Sounds like a good idea Terra.

I honestly am not bothered by the speed. But then again I didn't make a pure monk and can put on at least leather.

I use a buckler instead, that way if trouble busts out you're not stuck with "You cannot equip armor in combat!!!"

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Arelith has done this with their console commands and they don't even have 1 hak.

yeah the armor thing is why i recommended dc'ing some rock items.

like you could just add a 'rock merchant' to the crouching lemur that sells infinite numbers of rocks that each weigh 50/100/250/500/1000 lbs so ppl could tailor their speed accordingly.

Ask a dm, it's in special 1 Monk Skill: Speed or something along those lines. I'll make it automatically spawn one at monk 3 when it get around to it.
