One of the coolest areas on the server, and would serve well as a +5. This could be accomplished by simply re-adjusting the monsters in the area, as currently it's criminally under-utilized as an area for its intended level range.

This would have the side-effect of making the lich at the end properly represent power-wise what I feel a lich should represent. It would also allow the dev team to restore the 'death screamers' into their 'spam wail of the banshee' mode, but be fair as it's made for level 30's not teens.

From what I was told, both IC and OOC, the end-boss isn't an actual lich. I was also told the Electric Castle is slated for an upgrade, but it would make a nice epic dungeon, too.

Liches are great bosses because they have an IC reason to respawn.

And that place is amazing as it is, just needs stronger enemies and perhaps a mini-day-event to explain the increase in power, and removing the alignment gates.

But realistically just boost the monsters, boost the boss, +5-er-ize it.

It is just as much work to completely re-work and balance a dungeon than to make a new one. So making a ECL dungeon that is already worked out into a 30 is not a good option.

But you don't have to re-make the areas, the puzzles, the store, the traps, etc, isn't that the longest part of the dev process? Compared to just altering monster-stats whichis just changing AC/AB variables and adding some new spells to the boss?

Almost nobody does the place at its intended level as its pretty much occupying the most crowded leveling-space. Hell until recently enemies spammed wail of the banshee and the boss fired off ruin.

to be honest I like the place as it is now, yes not epic hunting proof but that's also part of its charm, its something special (and old) not another epic hunting ground. Also putting on Ayreon and strolling trough the place is wonderful IC and OOC regardless of lvl.

No it is not just changing a few AC/AB. The whole spawn needs to be balanced and work together.

I am also not a fan of a kill a lich on a regular bases in my daily tour spawn. A lich, just like a dracolich are plot bosses in my book.
IMHO the area is far too small to make a very great epic hunting dungeon.

And lasty, that alignment metagaming "puzzle" should have never been there to begin with.

Idea: "Electric Castle" is just a vestibule to the "Eclectic Castle", advanced conjuration-themed, accessible through a teleportation device / single-use trinket. Where riches are real, and so are liches.

Can't we just copy paste pre-balanced mobs then? That's what gets done currently when new monsters or bosses are needed. The druegar area is just re-skinned mind-flayers. The boss even uses the same custom attack.

Also for small areas, Snowbeast and pirate are like, short as hell. Sometimes you can get to pirate without encountering a single spawn.

The theme shouldn't change because the Electric Castle is literally a living metal album of a dungeon, and shouldn't ever be changed ever because it's basically the coolest thing.

I think it's cool as fuck just wish we had more reason to do it.

That's what I think would be cool about making it a +5. People would actually go do it.

Hear hear.

I remember not having the easiest of times soloing it on my main as a nostalgia trip. The boss can be surprisingly difficult, but in a good way.

It's usually a good and epic challenge for people in level range (don't remember if it's 11-15'ish). Also agree with Amarice that the meta alignment pathways are silly. Quite awkward roleplaying.

I have used it for levelling actually. Not the most common, but nice for a change.

On the fence about making it a +5 dungeon though.

I do think the meta alignment thing needs to go. It makes no IC sense for your character to really think they have an alignment at all, let alone knowing which one. Sure, some goodies and evils know, but... in general, an evil person doesn't think they're evil and neutral? Ehh... awkward and completely metagaming when in a party.

And... for the record, I chose the wrong one the other day and Roach died... just sayin' O.o
