Please, please... PLEASE can we remove the flesh to stone spam on those mobs?

I do not mind unblockable petrification, but those guys have very small AB - so they will not kill you - and the petrification takes quite a long time before it wears off and all you can do meanwhile is wait 'till it's gone. Also they spawn in large numbers and even though the roll to avoid petrification is very low (15 fort), critical fail roll is a BITCH.

Can we change the petrification to paralyzation, reduce the duration or something like that? It's really a pain.

... please?

I think the original purpose behind it was to make solo hunting less appealing in that area, similar to how the beholders have their knockdown and death ray bolts... though I don't think it's been nearly as successful as the beholder bolts.

It's definitely a sort of a solo discouragement mechanic. And even if it's not, I'm fine with it. It's a risk you have to take, and I've been burned by it a few times when soloing.

Risk and reward. If you don't want to risk it, then you just skip doing Maxi. Or come with a friend.

Yeah, you missed my point completely.

They CANNOT kill you due to their low AB. They will petrify you, which takes ages to wear off, and then dance around you trying to hit you.

Beholders are straight forward - they will either kill you or not. These guys will not kill you, but stop you for like five minutes. Which is not discouraging, it's plain boring.

No, I got your point. I know that happens, I've had it happen to me several times.

It doesn't change my point: that's the risk you take with going there. If you don't want to run the risk of getting hit with it then either you don't go or you go with at least another person. Every time I go, I know that risk and I take it. I have characters that refuse to go solo because of that reason.

Risk/reward.
