*All around Edonil, posted all about the outside and inside of the Magthere, Sorcere, outside the Iniquity and surrounding buildings, fliers appear, written in extravagant text*

Citizens of Edonil!

The charge of heresy is a grand thing, a powerful weapon to be wielded against enemies of our Queen, to uncover threats within the city and bring justice to those who would wish to harm it.

But what happens when one delivers a charge of heresy and investigation in the name of Lolth, but fails to stand by it? To hide and cower away when confronted by those you charge in the first place?

SHAME.

You bring shame to yourself, to the Queen, and to everything that you claim to stand for. This cycle, citizens of Edonil, the one guilty of cowardice is none other than the Ul'yath'tallar herself.

She has thrown her charges of heresy about as if they mean nothing at all, directing them now toward the Qu'ellar of Ussen d'Vhid, claiming that the honored Il'haress of one of the houses responsible for curbing the Keeper threat - who has proven herself, and even passed the tests of the temple to be a faithful servant of Lolth - does not follow our Queen.

Instigating war time and time again, when outside threats loom over us, attempting to weaken and stagnate our city because of her personal disagreements, is this something that our city needs? Does it do this fine city justice to have a High Priestess who ABANDONS her post and FLEES from those she truly believes to be heretics?

Does it do justice for our beloved Dread Queen? The laws she spouts are her own, not those of Lolth. She herself has become a threat to the city and is unfit for her position.

As always, the noble houses will protect this glorious city of webs from any threat. Stand united, citizens of Edonil... and prepare for change.

Several of the notices bear the official seal of House Tinnerai.

Early in the cycle all of the unsigned notices, and even those with the seal of the house Tinnerai are taken down and placed in refuse bins which are left at the gates of Ussen d'Vhid. All notices are replaced with the following:

Citizens of Edonil,

In accordance with the city statutes and sanitation laws, the members of house Tinnerai and Ussen d'Vhid are levied a fine of 50,000 gold each for littereing in the beautiful city of webs. The fine may be paid to any Yath'tallar, Academy leader, or the Temple fund chest. Please note that a mob of heretics running around the city leaving bodies and defacing the Temple once again is not the behaviour of an official city government nor authorized by the priestesses chosen by Lolth herself.

It is also noted that with the exception of those flyers carrying the seal of the House Tinnerai, the same house that sponsored the last attack on the Temple, were unsigned. Obviously a shameless rant of duplicity at utterly failing to damage the very people charged by our Great Valsharess to run the city.

The text of the song is removed from the post by the crystal and replaced with the following message:
Quote:
SHAME INDEED.

Shame to Edonil as the First House openly supports the heretics attacking the Temple of the Valsharess. The Ul'ath'tallar did not sit and wait for the heretics to attempt to slay her and instead cunningly eluded them, robbing them of their prize and their victory. So now the heretics would have you believe it is a bad thing for another to bear the witness of the act of lawlessness and heresy before the Houses, Academies, the citizens and the Queen Herself? The accusations levelled by the heretics against the Ul'ath'taller are nothing but weakly conceived smears to cover up their own shameful crude behaviour, their arrogance to believe they can dictate their terms to the Temple through brute force, to think their authority exceeds that of the Valsharess and her chosen. The Ul'ath'taller is only targeted now for performing the service to the Dread Queen with an utmost devotion and selflessness.

Shame to the First House as its Matron accepted a known heretic Alton Tinnerai, sheltered him, gave him a rank, then tried to make him an Ul'faeruk and protected him from the Yath testing, while being AWARE the male in question was a part of the Vhaeraunite cult, that he already attacked the Temple once. The said heretic sought to lay destruction upon Edonil, sought to ally with the Keeper and flood the city. And Maral -dares- to think she has a right to yap at the Ul'ath'taller who discovered the foul ploy and saved the city?

Shame to once noble House Ussen d'Vhid that is driven into madness by the creature they sadly chosen as their leader. This said creature, Miz'ri, bears tainted blood, and not only is she impure, she also -developed- the taint. She embraces it, makes it stronger so she even grew scales and having the gall of defending her tainted blood! And this mad creature thinks that having a few capable warriors means they can do whatever they want? They could go against the Temple, kill its Guards? What's next? Going to bring in a svirfneblin and try to use the muscle to make it become a Yath too? That's not the way things are done there. We're not barbarians. You will not get anywhere when you go against the Valsharess.

Shame that two once respected Houses allied to plunge the city into the civil war, seeking to destroy us from within. Their leaders think they are above the Valsharess, Her will, Her Temple and Her Voice. They think they can bend the laws of Lolth if they start killing Edonil citizens. Maral and Miz'ri try to flex their muscle to exert domination, instead of following the dogma of our Goddess! Do not let them fool you. Be wise. Keep your minds open and see what is truly going on. And trust the Valsharess to the end.

Lolth tlu malla!

House My'afin

A kobold slave seem to check on the post now and then, and if the message is removed or damaged, he'd replace it with a new one.

Upon hearing the replacement, Miz'ri laughs while keeping a lookout beyond the walls.

"I guess jealousy is a virtue."

//When was Miz'ri at the crystal to see it? And who exactly heard the comment? Or are we all telepathic again? If an anonymous drow trips and falls in the Forrest, does anyone here it? While flippant comments are neat to the 'Cool kids crowd' it does not constitute any sort of reasonable interaction. If you're going to interact, then do so, but making them so that one would be metagamming to react to is not a reasonable thing to ask other players to do.

On her regular patrol of the city, the Ust'ilharess takes notice that the posters are not present, and she takes a brief moment to perform a sending.

As she passes in front of the Magthere, the changed posting where the song had been catches her eye. She tears it off with one quick motion of her hand, and turns back toward Mull Harol. A few of her spoken words would drift to nearby ears as she makes no attempt to lower her voice, "...Continuing to attempt to incite war in my city!"

Soon enough the message is replaced with its exact copy.

Making another round through the center of Edonil, the Ul'faeruk speaks with the guard in front of the Melee Magthere. "Are things still quiet here?"

He nods absently at the response, "Whom has passed by in the hour since we last spoke?" The nod again. "Mmhmm, Usstan sees, only the warrior Gul'vyll and the jalil Irr'afae? Bweal, keep up the bweal work and make sure the Illharessen's kobold servant remains unmolested, xas?" Orders given, things apperently quiet, he strides back in the direction of the Sorcere.

One could assume that she was receiving regular reports from Gul'vyll and such comments would be directed at him, but otherwise Miz'ri was silent in the cavern. If anyone was close to the gate and not spotted, they could potentially make out the limited and rather uninformative words shared.

*New fliers pop up, in addition to the old ones which appear to have been replaced, in all the usual locations*

Citizens of Edonil!

Our noble houses will weed out the cowardice shown by those who toss the claim of heresy about as if it means nothing, to replace weakness with strength, so that our city as a whole benefits.

This time it seems that they have presented their own folly to you, plain to see. Openly admitting that they RAN from Ussen d'Vhid when we arrived at the temple to face the charges placed against us.

House My'afin would have you believe that their and the Ul'yath'tallar's cowardice is something to be proud of! They would preach that somehow displaying weakness follows the tenants of our glorious Queen, when all it really does it show their lack of devotion and conviction to the temple, city, and goddess they claim to swear themselves to.

They would call the third house, Ussen d'vhid, heretic. Yet, when they were presented with what they BELIEVED to be heresy, did they protect their spots in the temple? Did they hold their ground?

NO.

Instead, they fled, leaving the spiders to fend for themselves, as their so called Spider Guard attempted to use them as living shields! The precious spiders of the Queen!

These are the jaluken trained by the temple, this is what they're taught to do... led by the example of the cowardly Ul'yath'tallar and the yath of My'afin, who care more for their own hides than the sacred temple of our Dread Queen.

Are these the sort actions that would be expected of them, should there be an ACTUAL attack by heretics?

NO.

Fret not, citizens! Both the temple and the spiders residing inside are safe, thanks to the actions of the Third House in removing the cancers that would prefer to endanger the Queen's children instead.

Meanwhile, those who honorably step forward to the questioning of the temple are brutally murdered, despite their contributions to this city of webs. This is what we seek to protect you from, citizens, for those who give to the city and wish for it to prosper, WILL be protected. For our noble houses have the strength to do so.

What does My'afin offer to you? They and the false leader whose boots they lick have already proven they cannot handle a problem without running away from their duties. Their belief that the third matron is anything other than drow, and unworthy of being recognized by the temple, shows even further how they view their own word above the Dread Queen's.

Or did they forget that it was Il'haress Miz'ri that consecrated the temple in the first place - in the presence of one of the Queen's own handmaidens?

Did they forget she wields the blessings of the Dread Queen?

As always, Ussen d'Vhid will stand by their words - unlike others who might contradict themselves in their pitiful weakness - and do what is best for the integrity of this city.

You have our protection, citizens.

Vierrae was walking past the node, so paused, picking up one of the newer postings, reading it idly and then spoke up, loud enough for whoever was present, to hear:

"Leaving the spiders fend off to themselves?" So Ussen d'Vhid openly admit they attacked the spiders, since the children had a need to 'defend' themselves. Sad, isn't it?

The young priestess shook her head, looking rather drained and relaxed at the same time.

Cowardly My'afin? My jaluken fought the foolish attackers. We did not miss the battle, we defended the Valsharess' Temple. But sure, the Ussen can spread their lies all they want. Would not expect any less from heretics.

She smiled, rubbing her left cheek with two puncture wounds upon it, then she made her way to the Iniquity, keeping her back straight. Only once the door closed behind her, she allowed her shoulders slump slightly, and Vierrae drew a deeper breath, already tired for some reason.
