Ready...

The reverie was short, but needed. The word echoed in his mind again, yet with more conviction as his senses gained more awareness. A deep breath and long exhale, “It is time...”, the soft words flowing off his tounge to no one in particular.

Checking his pockets one last time and making sure his shoes were unblemished as they should be, the Zanjur of Power exited his private lab through a portal. Casting a look of suspicion along with his massive outsider companion at those deamons nearby they wait barely stepping from the portal. As the portal finnaly closes, a new portal is formed and the mage steps through to Nec'perya leaving the Corruptor to glare at the citizens of Zanshibon until that portal closes as well.

A nod to both guards at the ley line in Nec'perya, as he straightens his jacket long enough for the guards to properly identify him as the Zanjur. “As if the shoes didn't give it away...”, he commented quietly to himself.

Stiding to the Vanguards headquarters, he makes his way around the building, stopping at the inlet behind. He looks out over the water as he takes forth a map of the small mini bay. With a nod he paces out the perimiter of the small inlet and comes to a stop on the other side, measuring out enough space for the protections he needs.

Taking a few breaths and forming his concentration, he turns towards the movement nearby, neatly bowing and greeting the Illharess Ussen d'Vhid. “Malla, Vendui...”, noting the difference in stature, but dissmissing mentioning it in the face of the task at hand.

Kneeling down he takes a dozen star saphires and with the help of a Bigby invocation crushes them slowly into a fine powder. Once prepared, he pours the powder into precise lines forming a pentagram on the ground. Satisfied, he carefully steps inside and casts a magic circle over himself, anchored by the pentagram.

Noting the arrival of another spectator, Vuz'lyn, he intones dryly, “Now for the fun part.” He smiles as Vuz'lyn looks on uncomfortably and turns to begin the casting now that the protections are in place. Slowly, surely and with deliberation each element for the spell is created, fit into place, and monitored. Pausing as each slides into place, checking for reactions to the cojuration that is building nearby in the Faezress overhead.

He manages to not look surprised and is relieved at the same time as the spell is finnaly opened to the Weave and complete. Nothing crushed me... a good sign, he comments to himself as he contemplates the block of stone that now rests on the edge of the inlet. It's too tall and so much larger than expected. “Interesting...”, are the only words heard as he does several complex calculations in his head. Gaining confidence and making several alterations to the spell to compensate for the results of his first try, the spell is reconstructed and recast.

The results are more predictable but no more disturbing as a new block is formed and fills the inlet completely, bringing with it a trembling across the north side of the island dislodging several bricks from the nearby buildings. Pausing as the tremmors subside, waiting for the rest of the island to colapse, he is pleasantly surprised at the lack of colateral destruction.

Turning his attention to the new floor of the Forge, he inspects it for flaws, stepping closer to test its solidity. Satisfied for now he turns to the other two, “Well, that was easy enough.”, resisting the urge to wipe his brow. His smile falters a few moments later when an aftershock reorganizes the north coast of the island, dislodging rocks and mushrooms to float and sink in the current of the river.

Tapping his chin, “Hmmm, Perhaps an engineer is called for before any other alterations to the island should be considered.” Turning and bowing to Illharess Ussen d'Vhid, “Aluve Malla Illharess, this one should be about recording these new calculations.” Barely hearing the 'Loth tlu Malla' and subsequent blessing as she departs, already his mind spinning with his new insight into the Faezress.

Victyr regards the new foundations sceptically with arms folded across his large chest. He wasn’t taken to trusting stone to begin with, it not being as shiny as his beloved metal, but he trusts it even less now a mage had tampered with it. Still, he reasons, there isn’t much else to work with as space in Nec’perya's a valuable commodity. Indeed, he could barely take a decent breath without bowling over some clumsy cretin.

Naltyrr had given him access to the Vanguard funds to complete this project, and though the thought of embezzlement's a tempting one, he’d much rather see the Great Forge in operation. He looks around for Nixie and summons her over with a wave of his hand. Should she respond, he’d hand her an envelope and sends her off by ruffling her hair.

Alakaun Ussen d’Vhid,

If you would be so kind, I need you to lay a raised stone dais for the Crucible to sit on.

Quote:
The Crucible – Only prayers from Selvetarm’s faithful can operate this furnace to achieve the incredible temperatures required to create alloys such as steel and adamantine.

The crucible is a large container set on a raised dais, accessible by steps. The required material is placed inside via a hatch at the top where it will be met by divine heat. The material, once molten, will be released by removing the valve from the pipe at the bottom. The molten material will be guided down by a run into whatever trough or cast is waiting for it at the bottom. Selvetarm’s faithful can pray whilst performing tasks, or simply pray to the shrine. As long as there is prayer, the crucible will function. The process is continuous and allows for large loads of ore to be smelted at once – favourable conditions for mass production.

He gives orders to whatever slaves and labour had been granted to him to start construction on the blast furnace. He oversees the whole process, pitching in to forge parts, hearths and anvils to create a bustling construction site. He sticks the blueprints and notes up on a noticeboard so they can be referred to with ease throughout the whole process.

Naltyrr can be seen walking up to the newly made ground where the Great Forge was to be built. He stopped in the middle of the new ground, looking about around him a calculating gaze. Raising a hand and opening his mouth as if to say something, he pauses, with a sudden look of dissatisfaction crossing his face as he walks off again returning a few minutes later and placing one of his unsabotaged stools on the ground. Stepping on the stool, he cleared his throat to pontificate to whoever might be near.

"The foundations of the Great Forge have been laid, construction for it shall be soon underway and upon completion will count as many of Nec'perya's great structures! Through the sweat of our smiths and prayers to the Spider That Waits, the fires of Nec'perya's industry will be fed! To churn out magnificent weapons that will spill the blood of heretics and surfacers, to create wealth for our citizenry and elevate Nec'perya to even greater heights!"

"Shortsighted fools might call us impoverished and squatters, they may cite the devastation of Edonil as reasons for our future failure! But that is simply wishful thinking on their part, weak attempts to console themselves for our future holds great fortune for us. Under the glow of faerzress and amongst the ruins of this ancient city, we have truly been blessed by the Dread Queen who has guided us here on the hour of what many thought would be our destruction!"

"This Great Forge to Selvetarm, the Champion of Lolth, will be but one of many testaments to the endurance and power of the drow!"

"Lolth tlu malla!"

I can begin laying down the stone for the dais, xas. I will like to meet with you sometime there to get the exact location and envisioned size of the dais.
