Vuz'lyn has spent a lot of time in the Illithid City laying waste to the endless spawn of illithids and their slaves. Every once in a while he comes across a drow slave, and kills them without hesitation since he knows they are under control of the illithids. Then suddenly, Vuz'lyn gets an idea. He decides to see if his enchantment powers can override the illithid's psionic powers long enough to get some information from the thrall. With a simple casting of Dominate Monster, he brings one under his command and asks it a few questions.


Where did you come from before you were enthralled?
What are the illithids doing here?
What is so valuable about this place that the illithids are settling here and beholders are attacking?
What does all this illithid technology do?
Who is your elder brain?
Where is your elder brain?
Is all this technology connected to the elder brain?
How do the illithids use these machines?
Are the machines living things?
Can the machines be interfaced with telepathically?

I am not sure when he did this but right now the Ilithid city is utterly gone and the ruins are inaccessible. This has been the case for some weeks now.

After questioning the thrall, Vuz'lyn stares thoughtfully at the illithid structures. He releases the thrall to his undead, and they quickly rip it to shreds. He watches the spinning orb trying to imagine what the Overmind could be thinking and planning.

Vuz'lyn has noticed the large rotating ball in the illithid city that seems to be holding up a large fortress type construction. He is tempted to use a transmutation to fly up there and see for himself what it is, but decides that would be too risky. Instead he decides to find a subject with wings to dominate and ask it to scout the fortress, or whatever it is, for him. After some experimentation, he decides a Gloura Scout would be a proper choice for this recon mission.

Vuz'lyn equips the Gloura scout with some spells: True Seeing, stone skin, protection from the elements, mage armor, and improved invisibility. He then gives orders to the Gloura Scout:

Fly up there as stealthily as you can and see what kind of structure that is. If you can sneak inside it, do so, and explore as much as you can. Take note of any life forms, like illithids, thralls, or any other beings inside, and their activities. Also take note of any technological machines that you may or may not understand. After 15 minutes of exploration, return to me, so we can discuss your findings.
