// reposted here since I was informed that is NOT part of Amia Forest, but there's no other good place to put it, so here goes!

A woman, not too tall, but certainly not short, wearing simple armor of metals, leather and some cloth makes her way along the road toward the Orc lair. As she approaches, she withdraws from its scabbard, a simple, but well made katana. From her back, a tower shield of no discernable make. In fact, her equipment appears quite mundane, but in good condition, and still quite servicable. At the top of the ridge, the woman notices the orcs below, grumbling and squabbling in their unknown tongue. With a quick look to the skies, a deep breath with her eyes closed, and a short prayer to Tempus, she begins her preparations.

First, she reads a scroll, and her sword comes alive in flames, lapping at the air like waves. Then, she drinks from a bottle of blue liquid and her body becomes partially obfuscated from view, and what you can see takes on a blue glow. With another breath, she makes her move forward, stopping several paces from the horde of orcs, who only now notice she is there.

The orcs at first stop their incessant mumblings and look in her direction, for a split second, all is quiet. They then charge toward her, and arrows are let to fly in her direction. The woman raises her shield to stop the hail of arrows, then gets her footing, and a strong stance for the fight about to ensue. One orc leads the attack, followed by three more, all armed with swords and shields. Four archers stand in the rear.

As the first orc gets close enough, with a quick spin, she puts all her force into the blow of her katana as it spins fully around her body. The orc's shield is cut in two, and a deep gash is cut into his chest. With a follow up slice, he drops to the ground. The next three in line seem undeterred by this and simply duck their heads and surround her.

She further deepens her defensive stance as she surveys her opponents, wondering which will make their move first. As she does, an arrow hits her in the thigh. While not a fatal wound, it is most certainly painful, and will inhibit her ability to fight. With no time to remove it, she maintains her composure, and scans the three orcs still.

Finally, one of the orcs, impatient as they are makes the move to strike. As he does, a quick movement and flash of steel and his sword arm, and sword are on the ground. The next strike stabs him through the chest, and the woman raises a foot to kick him off her sword. As her sword is freed, using that momentum, she spins and strikes across the remaining two orcs, stunning them if not causing much injury. They then face off, and she duels them both, taking a minor scrape to her sword shoulder in the process. Once they are bested, she sets her sights on the archers.

She runs, impressively so, considering her armor, sword, and shield, and injury, and plunges her sword into the chest of the first archer to the right, then slams her shield into the second, then removing his head with a final blow. A step back, and a spin of her body gives power to nearly cut the far left orc in twain, and another stab to the body fells the fourth.

The fight over, the battle won, she takes to her knees and gives thanks to the Lord of Battle that today she was victorious. She then checks the pockets and packs of the fallen soldiers and lines up their bodies before setting them aflame.

Finally, she steps toward the road, carefully removes the arrow in her leg by breaking off the shaft, and pushing the rest through, causing as little trauma as possible. With some healing herbs, and clean bandages, she carefully cleans and dresses the wound. A bit of spirits, both for the injury and to drink aid as well.

When finished, she collects her belongings, sheathes her sword, straps on her shield, and walks along the road, ready to live to fight another day.
