Flynn can be seen coming through the portal near Town Hall, rubbing his head. After a quick look around, confident no one is paying attention to him, he walks, well, limps a bit, toward the Hin Inn, the occasional wince of pain on his face. Once inside, he does all he can to walk normally, but orders some food, and a bottle of whiskey to be sent to his room, before tossing some coins to Fendel, maybe a few more than usual. He then heads to his room, and is not seen the remainder of the evening and until nearly midday the next day.

The following morning, Flynn walks out, albeit slightly stiffly to deliver coffee and cocoa to the militia. He then finds a spot on the bench under the tree near the carts. From a holder, he produces a rolled up piece of parchment and reads it, occasionally looking off, then looking at it again. His features, to those who know him well enough, show indecision. After a time, he heads to the Town Hall, only to stop before entering and puts the rolled up paper back in its holder.

A vase of wildflowers on the piano in the Hinn Inn finds a fresh batch of even more wildflowers tucked into it before the night's end.

After having gone to bed, Fosco woke up after only six hours of sleep. After getting some fruity punch, he headed outside. Usually he would get in his militia uniform and go on duty, but this morning he went out in his casual clothes and took the cart to Cordor. After two hours, he returned on foot, dressed in his militia uniform. He'd go on one brief patrol before returning to the corner of the Dale where the carts were. Gazing down on the area, shadow pulled around him briefly as he ducked into hiding. One could only presume he was watching the area from somewhere, but he wouldn't appear anywhere in the area again for some time.

Another evening fades away in Bendir Dale. Flynn, after offering his services to Rosary as Deputy Mayor, should she accept it, can be seen chatting by the fire with a beautiful red-haired halfling woman. Later, energetic banter with Missus near the fountain and talk of.. fruitboobs and Doom can be heard reverberating around the small town. After the purchase of an exquisite shortbow from the former Mayor, and receiving a lovely package of arrows from the current one, Flynn heads out of town, returning later and heading straight to his room.

In the afternoon that day, a familiar druidess dressed in dark greens and browns visited the Dale. She spent longer than usual today checking over the crops, even the ones that hadn't been damaged, assuring all was well. With the hard work of the hins, she barely needed to tend to the previously damaged crop, watering them just a little.

While much of the Dale had left to the desert of Khem for the Djinn sale, Delen remained behind to continue her work. After a time she approached Jayek, asking where the baskets of fruit had been gathered. She was pointed to the northwest shrines, only asking that some farmers come to assist in storing away the food properly when it was purified.

She arrived at the shrines, observing the baskets and state of the spoiled fruits. Within a couple minutes, a group of halfling farmers arrived to witness the spell and take care of the food afterwards.

She greeted them with a smile and friendly tone, telling them what she was about to do. Asked if she needed any help, the druidess politely declined, saying she would be fine to perform this, and all she'd need afterwards is their help moving the food.

Several baskets lay in front of the idols, filled with all the fallen fruit that had been collected. Delen approached it and took out a small pouch. She stuck a couple fingers into the pouch which contained soft moist soil, using it to draw small symbols on each of the baskets.

After each was marked, she began weaving a small ball of green light. As she did so, she spoke a soft prayer in a language the hin had likely never heard before - Waelan. As she finished, she pushed the glowing ball towards the baskets, falling over them and expanding like a gentle rain of light, seemingly guided to each basket as each little mark glowed softly for a moment.

As the cleansing light washed over the baskets of fruit, their colour began to restore, wrinkles disappeared, and once mushy fruit expanded to it's proper size, pushing out a few pieces of fruit which fell beside the baskets. The area was filled with the subtle smell of now fresh fruit.

What the farmers likely didn't know is that the spell she cast didn't need to be so showy. In fact, it was an extremely simple spell. Delen however, liking to leave a feeling of mystery about the druids, had used a very ritualized version of the spell she'd performed in the past. Nothing harmful about a little ritual and show for a special occasion, right?

With some clapping from the farmers, Delen took out her staff and leaned on it lightly, not that she was tired. With a pleased expression, she examined the fruit for any signs that the spell hadn't encompassed everything, but couldn't find any left spoiled.

"
I think that will do it. It is all yours, now." the druidess said, "If anything else remains spoiled or spoils later, I'll be periodically visiting the Dale to ensure it keeps properly. And I'd like to compliment you on the job you're doing with the crops. They're continuing to come along well, thanks to your hard work."

One of the female hin spoke her thanks and gave Delen a hug. It surprised her, as hugs often seemed to, but she rest her non-staff bearing hand on the hin's back in return and smiled. "
You're all very good neighbours here. Whenever you need help, please don't hesitate to ask us if we can do anything. May the earthmother and your own great mother continue to watch over you and your fields."

With that the farmers collected the food that had fallen out of the baskets during the spell and carried it all away. Delen watched them go, a content smile lingering on her. Rare was it she could do such purely good work. Giving a bit more heart to an all too often dour druidess.

She sat around a while longer, enjoying the atmosphere of the Dale, before going on her way back to the grove.

Pebbles steps out of the inn wearing her uniform armor, looking refreshed and bright-eyed. She smiles brilliantly at everyone she comes across, while she starts picking out various members of the Militia who just come off-duty during a shift change. She takes them off to the northern end of the Dale, where she puts them through various drills and spars with them using a blunted short sword. The tough Militia Captain seems to be encouraging them to figure out how to break through a strong defense, and laughs lightly anytime one of them lands a solid blow.

After about two hours of this, she gets into a magic bag and spreads around an entire pie amongst them, chatting cheerfully until they each run off back home to loved ones. Once she's alone again, she stands by the bridge and gazes out over the water, her thumbs hooked on her belt. It is a distant gaze that settles over her, but she does not linger there for very long. With a quick smile for anyone who might disturb her, she goes back about her business, patrolling the Dale and occasionally making notes in a small book.

Flynn distributes coffee and cocoa to the militia, giving it a quick sniff before doing so, so as to eliminate any possibility of "fortifying" by Fendel. He then heads out behind the Inn, jumps across the boulders in the T&B Stream, and sits on a grassy spot, overlooking the water. For a long time, he just gazes out, occasionally sipping from his steaming mug. His face would be hard to read, but those that know him would realize he is thinking, heavily and seriously, about... something, or maybe a few things. Finally, he would pull out his journal, open it to the last written page, marked with a silken strap. Then, he would let his thoughts flow, forever marking his words indelibly with no intent of others finding them, but if they should, he was honest with himself, and forthright about how he felt that particular day. As the hours of midday pass, he alternates between gazing out at the water, and penning his words in said journal, his coffee mug long since empty. Then without ritual or warning, he collected his things, scampered across the boulders once again, and joined the rest of his community, his family, in Bendir Dale.

Early in the morning, dressed in plain trousers and tunic, a burly moustacheod hin borrowed a small push cart from one of the local farmers and filled it with bags from the mills storage. Quietly he pushed the cart toward the back of the Dale, crossing the stream to stop at the base of a carefully selected hill. One with a nice gentle slope, not too steep, nor with any burrow windows or doors too close. Softly he whistled to himself as he began to assemble the new pelling post. The one with the new bottom, made smooth and curved up at the edges, not unlike a sled. Next he wrapped an extra layer of cushion around the post and tied it off with a bit of rope. From the cart he pulled a short rod about the length and weight one might suspect a kukri would be.

He continued to whistle as he began the slow work of slapping short, precise blows against the pell until his tunic began to show spots of dampness. After a brief pause he than grabbed his shield and squared up in front of the post. He did not whistle but stared with a menacing quiet until he crouched and fired. His body twisted fluidly from the hips, his shoulder rolled, his arm snapped nearly straight leading the short burst into the post. His whole hin girth followed behind the blow sending the post up the hill some distance. He crouched and repeated the move, foot by foot he pushed the post up the hill.

After finally reaching the top he drug the post back down, grabbed a couple bags from the cart, and threw them on the sled like bottom of the new post. He once again squared, stared, and fired. This time he simply drove his shield into the post, his right hand held behind the top edge to help stabilize the punch, his head held up as he let the power come upward from his driving legs. Once to the top he again drug the post back down and threw more bags onto the sled and repeated the drill.
The sun was high when the hin had stopped at the top of the hill and pulls the sweat soaked tunic over his head. His thick chest heaved with exertion as he walked to the edge of the hill where it fell off to the stream below.

He grinned.

He took a few steps backward and ran hard and fast to the edge where he leapt and pulled his legs inward to his chest. A single word resounded through the Dale moments before a loud and deep kersplooshing was heard.
"CATAPULT!!"

Pebbles seems to take an impromptu day off. She spends the majority of the morning in the Hinn Inn, sitting at her piano though only occasionally playing something. Her demeanor is distracted mostly, but she always has a quick smile for anyone she catches looking her way.

Around midday, she leaves the inn before lunch and takes a fishing pole and basket over to the water's edge near the bridge. There she sits in silence with her hook out in the water for hours. If anyone saw her settle down, they might have noticed that she didn't actually bait the hook before throwing it in.

Flynn, in his usual routine, brings coffee and cocoa to the guards. He notices Pebbles at the piano, begins to approach her, and, decides she might prefer to be left alone. He stands guard for a while outside the walls, sipping his coffee, his thoughts giving him away. He looks concerned, but hasn't spoken to anyone why. Later, as he passes Pebbles again, he pauses, watching her for a long moment, wondering if he should talk to her, or leave her alone. This time, again, he opted to leave her alone and headed out to the combat dummies behind the Town Hall to train.

Fosco woke up much later than he usually did, and didn't seem to come down from his usual room. In fact, using his skills as a master burglar and sneak, no one saw where he came from as he just 'appeared' at the bar at the Inn. He had his regular fruity punch and drank it slower than usual as he seemed to spend a good deal of time contemplating something. He seemed happy enough, though it was with a subdued thoughtful smile, and he would greet anyone who greeted or spoke to him with his usual enthusiasm, but something was definitely on his mind.

He later came out inn after a while, dressed in his casual clothes, looking around as if he'd lost something. He checked the fountain area, outside the gates, even checked back in the inn, but couldn't seem to find what he was looking for. Despite his failure, he didn't tell anyone what he was up to or why. Disappointed, he got dressed in his militia uniform with a heavy sigh and went out on his usual patrol. He didn't normally, but today he wore his hood, conveniently disguising his expression or whatever might be playing on his mind.

The afternoon saw a spontaneous pie auction in the rain, which became rather silly and ridiculous and ended with Pebbles gathering a handful of gems and baubles (and even a pair of scorpions). At some point, Bambry managed to tie a red ribbon to the end of his sister's tail without her notice, so when she darted cheerfully back to the inn, the ribbon went with her. She didn't notice it until a patron in the inn started laughing at her, and then a clear shout of "BAMBRY!" came from the direction of the busy tavern.

---

A short time later, the copper-hin leaves the inn with a shawl about her shoulders to stave off the rain, another basket in her hand. If she comes across Flynn, she flashes him a grin and tosses an apple in his direction before continuing about the Dale, delivering various foodstuffs to the Militia.

She might be seen "angrily" chasing her brother later, too.

The evening saw Flynn, standing amongst tallers, talking about how much brooding goes on. There was threats of a certain hin's singing versus bad puns. Jokes were told, introductions made, more brooding, more denials of said brooding. An elven figure with glowing eyes and a bow said nothing, but stared and kept replenishing his true sight spell every ten minutes or so. Flynn just laughed and took it all in, then decided it was time to sleep.

In the morning, Pebbles comes from her room in the inn wearing her Militia uniform. She speaks quietly to her uncle before leaving a wrapped box in his care, presumably to be given to someone. She then leaves out the back door to begin her rounds, a certain cheer about her as she goes about her duties.

Fosco seemed particularly upbeat today, doing his rounds with his hood off, enthusiastically greeting everyone. He also seemed to be sporting a new accessory. He wore a new leather cord necklace, the center of which was a second tiny vertical cord that ran through and held a small two inch copper dragon scale with a tiny hole carefully drilled through it's base.

During the night, well perhaps more early morning, but definitely before the sun peaked over the Bendir Hills. A room is cleaned. It was always tidy, perhaps a habit left over from an institutional upbringing, however this morning sees it thoroughly done. Personal belongings packed up and the bed turned with clean linen, a key left in the lock of the door that was left open.
A crate of cherry juice was left open in the square, near the merchant stall. An open invitation to any thirsty passerby.
A figure cloaked and hooded for travel moved through the front gates with a silent nod to whomever was unfortunate enough to pull that particular shift of guard duty. Once atop the southern hill the large figure had paused, well perhaps large for a hin, and turned to glance over the walled town. After a moment, possibly a moment of reflection, the figure turned and continued on his way, definitely before the sun peaked over the Bendir Hills.

Early in the morning, there's a bit of excitement around the inn as Pebbles has a very noisy argument with Bambry, who looks pale and drawn. The elder Oldfur sibling must be being stubborn, as Pebbles demands he go see Jayek to figure out what's wrong with him. It isn't until almost midday that she manages to just grab her brother and drag him over to the Town Hall to see the popular healer.

Afterward, she's seen taking Bambry back to the one of the Oldfur burrows, where she and their parents oversee his recovery from whatever illness he must have had. After not seeing him for a decade, Pebbles understandably hovers and worries too much over him.

As per usual, Flynn comes downstairs in the Inn, gets a dozen or so mugs of coffee and cocoa, and heads out to give them to the guards on duty. He sips his own coffee and stands guard for a bit, then heads to Town Hall and tacks up a poster...

Quote:
Your town needs you!

Do you want to help lead our people? Do you want to be a central part of the system and have a say in how things are done? Would you like to serve Bendir Dale?

See Mayor Rosary about applying for the Deputy Mayor position. Our town needs more than one candidate.

Thank you,

~Flynn~

Nearing sunset, Flynn arrives via portal, with a spattering of blood all over his armor. He pauses near the stream to wash his face, then heads straight to the Inn. Moments later he returns carrying a tray with a bowl of soup, and a cup of hot tea. He then brings that toward the residential area...

Just before sunset, Fosco heads out of the Dale. He doesn't seem to want anyone to know where he's going, simply saying he'll be out for a while. An hour later, Fosco teleports back into the Dale, holding his hand as if he'd sustained an injury and muttering to himself, though he didn't seek medical attention. He simply went back to the inn, had a drink of ale, and went upstairs to wash himself off.

Half an hour later, Fosco came stumbling down the stairs, holding his head in pain and seeming terribly sick - enough so that he threw up on the floor of the inn. When taken for medical attention, he admits he "may have been poisoned" and receives treatment for just that.

Though cured for poison, whatever it was had still left Fosco somewhat ill and he retreated back to the inn, having a simple fruity punch this time. Waiting until Fendel wasn't looking, Fosco left the coin for the punch and a bit of a tip for throwing up on the floor and simply vanished. Where the slippery sick hin went didn't seem readily apparent, though if anyone was watching the basement door, it would have quietly opened slightly before closing again.

The Militia Captain lets her "minions" know that she'll be about if anyone needs anything, but she has to look after two silly lads who got themselves sick but are recovering: Bambry and Fosco, of course.

So for the next few days the copper-hin stays busy about the inn and the residential area, often carrying around food or warm drinks.

Fosco takes a medical absence from today's duty shift, staying about the inn and reading from a book that has had it's cover removed. He seems to be doing much better today, but he seems tired still despite sleeping in, and frequently fidgets with his right hand.

Instead of fruity punches, he's switched to coffee for the day, and only has a sandwich for his lunch. He later finds time to go out and see Jayek, getting himself checked out, before returning back to the inn and continuing to take things easy, at least for the time being.

A very tired looking Flynn portals into Bendir Dale, late in the evening. He pulls off his blood and gore soaked tunic and armor and begins washing them in the stream. He then lays them out to dry and puts on some dry clothes. With a quick run into the Inn, he comes out with a mug of coffee and a cup of tea and heads out toward a certain house.

After dispersing coffee and cocoa to the guards, Deputy Mayor Flynn spends some time outside the walls, while sipping his coffee. He's in his usual tunic and boots, though, what is underneath is anyone's guess. His shield is strapped to his back and a very fine kukri is sheathed just below it.

Around midday, he heads into the Inn, and returns with a smile on his face and a guitar in his hands. He heads over the bridge behind the Inn, and up the hill on the right, and takes up a spot in the shade under a tree.

With a pleasant expression and a deep breath, he begins plucking the strings, while adjusting the tuning. Soon enough, he's playing, and he's not half bad, but out of practice. He spends a lazy part of the afternoon on that hill, practicing, and re-discovering an old pastime.

// OOC: For those interested, he has a 27 Perform, so... not the most exciting of performances, but not half bad either!

Long after the festival ends and the hinfolk head to their beds, a lone elf in white stands upon the cliff overlooking the village. Should any guard decide to approach and ask why, the response is simple:

"I was asked to."

When dawn breaks the next morning, the elf is seen opening a portal and going through.

Missus can be heard rattling around in her Hinn Inn room late last night, tossing and turning. After ordering warm milk via room service to no avail she desperately sends a note to Fendel.

"Please send Pebbles and Da'Nask up to my room for some late night sparring, this insomnia is killing me."

Yet another day, Flynn offers coffee and cocoa to the guards, but this time he didn't emerge from the Inn, he came from a house in the Residential section, then to the Inn, and then to visit the guards. As per usual, he spent some time standing guard himself, before heading back behind Town Hall to train, and later, disappearing across the bridge for an hour or so.

The druid some may recognise as Virgil Kelten had been traveling through much more frequently. Despite his usual desire to be warded at almost all times, he was not. He would always be coming from or going to Amia Forest.

** a note is left in Bendir's Dale by Obsidian **

My right sized friends,

from this day forward I'm officially offering my services as a supplier of weapons, armour and miscelaneous items.

This offer applies to all citizens of Dale, especially militia. See below example of how to order such, in case we fail to meet in person.

Order FormName: Balbo Biggins
Desired item: Right sized short sword of third tier or higher and right sized chain armor of fourth tier or higher, preferably light.

Items I can provide are from all shops on and outside the Isle, including both Gauntlets. I also carry various items of epic tier.

Prices are always negotiable and we will always conclude the order in person.

Flynn once again exits a burrow in the residential area, heads to the Inn, gets a tray of coffee and hot cocoa and disperses it to the Militia on duty. Again, he takes a turn on watch. He pulls out a small notebook, and occasionally writes something down.

In the dead of night, a certain fiery halfling slips away into the darkness moving quickly in the direction of the Skull Crags before cloaking herself under an invisibility spell. She does not return the next day.

Flynn rises early, just before sunup and begins making rounds, and asking if anyone has seen Ember, saying she left in the middle of the night for tea, but hadn't come back. His demeanor is concerned, but not truly worried... yet.

In the early morning hours, before the sun rises, a heavily wounded Ember Faren appears in the garden near the burrow houses as her invisibility spell fails with her consciousness.

Flynn, as he wandered toward home, finds Ember, lying in her own blood. Quickly, runes on his face, hands, and arms glow bright red. With a glance to the heavens, he places his hands on her wounds, and they heal, some. The bleeding stops at least for now. He tries to wake her, and lifts her into his arms, opening a portal to the Salandran Temple, where he admits her for treatment.

A kinda half-naked Wilfire could've been seen having lessons to fly from a -very- tall Silver Dragon Disciple Woman by the hills.

After a lot of teaching.. practicing.. falling.. falling.. and.. falling... Wilfire managed his first successful takeoff.. going up.. then down.. and landing -NOT- on his face! A proper landing!

Even after the lesson is over and the Silver one leaves, he keeps on practicing. Well.. some more minor falls wont hurt that much and no pain no gain!

When he gets tired and too much bruised the moves inside for a proper care of his wounds and for a rest on the Inn.

Wilfire can still be seen trainning his flight techniques on the hills. Though as time passes he adds more pieces of armour, boots, gauntlets and finally body plate, Slowly getting used mainly to the lack of mobility it causes, slowly getting the feel on how he would adjust his body for the flight with his full armour on.

After being seen quite upset stomping his way to his home, then the sound of a fireball against the rocks in the residential area of Bendir Dale, and entering a portal with a very concerned Marigold, Flynn is not seen in around town at all that night or the following day.

With the disappearance of Ember, Flynn has grown more concerned for her well being and whereabouts. One morning, he packs a few things, locks up their house, and leaves a note in Town Hall before heading out of Bendir Dale.

Quote:
My fellow Dale residents,

As some of you may know, Ember is gone. I know not where exactly, but I have a fairly good idea. I will be taking a trip to try to find her. I'm not sure how long I will be, but remember that you are all fondly in my memory.

Until we meet again,

~Flynn Foxfoot~

With the departure of Ember and Flynn, Pebbles seems to be far more serious than usual. She goes about her work in the Dale as normal, but those who know her might be able to tell that she's not taking the departures well.

She seems inclined to pick up a little slack, though, going out of her way to help Rosary with anything she might be able to assist with.

Fosco would spend more time on duty himself, keeping his hood off and being his regular sociable joking self. He paid particular attention to Pebbles (to no one's surprise), not being overly jokey but trying to be cheerful and keep her spirits up.

If Fosco was concerned about Ember and Flynn, it didn't show while he was on duty, though he spent more time on duty than normal and went on some extra patrols.

[Stormwind would be seen moving through the area ever so often of late -- never lingering, never sparing more than perhaps a glare at Willfire or Pebbles; her expressionless helm gazing omwardd as shr cradled in her shield and trudged in the direction of the Mylock hills -- a similar pattern and similar warding each time...]

There's some activity about the Militia as Pebbles goes about talking to various members. Nothing is expressly announced, but it seems they're doing something, at least.

The patrols of the Bendir militiamen spread out along the border territory shared of the distant Mylock Hills, following a meeting with their captain. They pass to and fro, never entering the neighboring state entirely, but keeping an eye out.
