A new face can be seen on the Djedet streets. Seen frequently talkin to Tauroemhet or Kasquet, he can also be seen following Setu, the Paladin of Horus-Re about or striding through the town with an Ogrillion Slave behind him.

He bears the symbol of nobility upon his forehead, carries a medium sized Khopesh that glows pale blue even through its ornate scabbard. his armor is bright and finely crafted.

He wears the symbol of a hawk on his chest, and if he were to remove his helm (also in the shape of a hawk) one would see that his right eye had been removed and the socket stitched over, his left eye appears pale and milky, and constantly looks about him.

Setu can once again be seen walking through the township, after an indeterminate and sudden disappearance. He looks haggard and worn, although when accompanied by one who seems to be at his side often, his face just appears grim.

Sneferu walked around Djedet, breathing in the scent of the town: sappy smoke, sweat and caramelised dates. He watched people pass by and live their lives, and at the same time he felt how something clutched his heart. It was jealousy. Throughout his life Sneferu had served the Empire by doing acts of violence and taking risks which could have taken his life. Now, however, a thought of change came to his mind. The wind wouldn't talk to him for ever, nor the sand would be hot under his feet. He realised that he had to find a new purpose for his existance.

Tauronemhet can be seen lately making his way about Djedet with a purpose, taking measurements of the Towns exterior amongst other things. He is accompanied by a large Obsidian Skinned male, who holds a large swatch of Papyrus Rolls filled with Diagrams and drawings.

William Johnsson shaded his eyes.
Life were going about as it was. The sun's scorching rays were all over the marketplace in Djedet, but the inhabitants did not seem to bother. They were used to this, he remembered.

-"Mulhorandi, a strange kin" He thought, And rubbed his beard. It was especially sticky today, and he had an itch in it due to all the sweat he produced. While the merchants were shouting to sell their clothes and exotic goods from across the seas, he quietly browsed what was there. He eyed a comb of silver, whom he paid a few gold for and tucked in under a black weaved cloak. It was for safekeeping, and hopefully for one of the Candle sisters back at the cathedral in nes'ek.

The wind came from the northeast; and the sand were twirling about the marketplace in Djedet where William Johnsson stood, casually leaning towards a dadel tree amidst the busy town.
He were given a few polite nods here and there; yet were mostly ignored by the vast majority of the inhabitants in the small secluded town.
The sun's rays scorched the grounds, and the air moved as if water due to the heat. William drank a few gulps out of his water-canteen and looked about.

He had come to djedet in search for cheap supplies, as many of his Templar brothers did these days, But during midday in the desert, only a fool or rookie would move or even breathe to heavy, as the heat could fell even the most seasoned warrior.

The usual strim of merchants went in and out of the Northrend gate, but today there was a new sight in town. A caravan had stopped by, and were unloading massive bulks of goods and water from the continent, and with them were slaves.

While william did neither support nor frown upon slavery, it was something of an odd sight to see as far inland as in khem; least in Djedet. He slowly started to loose interest, as his thoughts went towards what he needed, and the comings and goings of recent week, But something moved out of the corner of his eye.

A child, Somewhere between eight or nine years old, were limping behind a camel. She wore a collar around her neck and hands were bound by shackles, just like the other slaves, yet she had looked up towards william with a terrified and horror-stricken expression.

William dismissed it, and sighted, as such sighs were common around these parts. The mulhorandi empire didn't outright support slavery, but it was better than leaving them to fend for themselves in the desert, or to have them on the streets, stealing and causing problems.

Yet, In the corner of his eye, she looked upon him again, And he noticed her beautiful blue eyes that set her apart from the rest. She met his gaze for a split second, before turning away and looking down onto the ground.

The nearest caravanner had, unluckily, seen her flinch and leaned down to whisper something in her ear. She swallowed and kept her stare down at the ground, twisting her hands.
The caravanner narrowed his eyes, and repeated his unknown question, yet the little girl stood still, She had frozen out of fear or panic, from whatever the man had said to her.

It was clear that he had lost patience with her, and he raises a whip, shouting at her in his foreign language. The little girl trembled and a few tiny drops of water fell to the ground, as she hulked and covered up under the slaver's wrath.

William where watching, thus he could not take his eyes away from this fragile little statue, her torn and dirty hair mixed with dusty and dirty clothes made her look even more fragile.

-TWAP-

The air resonated, and the girl fell to the ground, hulking and sobbing while the slaver towered above her, Raising the whip for another strike.

-TWAP-

Again, the whip fell mercilessly upon the poor girl whom curled up into a ball.

-TWAP-

Again, he lifted his arm and sent the oxen whip down upon the poor girl, as she were lying on the ground.
People looked away; Raised their voices to drench the sound of her crying.

But william couldn't. He would be arrested for intervening, and the relations with Djedet were all-ready tight. Her blue eyes looked upon on him; they silently pleaded for help, screamed out her agony in wordless words.

-"NO, PLEASE! I ... I WILL BUY HER! JUST DON'T HURT HER!"

William heard the shout; and looked about, who was this saviour?

The street had gone eerie quiet; and a tumble-weed rolled silently past. William looked around himself, and maybe a dussin eyes were fixed upon him, some scared, most in shock.

The caravanner had stopped dead in his tracks; Holding the whip over the sobbing girl, with a blank expression as he, to, stared at William.

The realisation came to him slowly. And the consequences of his subconscious action struck him with full force, But he could not back out now, Thus just as he realised his doing, her blue eyes looked straight into his - And a flicker of hope was lit.

That evening, An odd pair left Djedet, A Templar of the Dreaded Eternal order; And a small child clad in rags.
They were holding hands....

// Curious as to which DM oversaw that. By Mulhorandi law its illegal to beat a slave for no reason and given the Osirant influence over the city any number of the Guard would have handled that. I don't mind at all that your making a story out of it, but the entire story is counter-intuitive to Mulhorandi law. Also a Caravan master wouldn't own a slave, the slave would have been Hired out from one of the Slave Masters (who himself is actually a slave).

If the Caravan Master is an independent then he would have been arrested.

The reason I ask is that I need to formulate an appropriate response to this.

A copper dragon-kin can be seen in Djedet as of late. She shops at the various merchants. There is a serious mood about her, although she remains very friendly to all the locals. A silver comb catches her eye. Satisfied with her purchase she makes herself comfortable on a bench and brushes her long red hair.

She closes her eyes and tilts her head upward toward the hot sun. Resting her head on the wall behind her she being to hum a soft tune to herself in meditation.

A shining figure makes her way into Djedet. Clad in pristine white linen, a braided wig whose gold bead-tipped ends hang to just below her shoulders, she walks with a self-assured, calm air. Her face is nobly beautiful, with high cheekbones and full lips, and kohl outlining startlingly bright quicksilver-hued eyes. Each person she meets is granted the gracious blessings of the Lady of Bounty before she makes her way to the temple.
A novice, to be sure, judging by her age, but a priestess none the less, Ankhesenaten al-Hajjar arrives in Khem.

The priestess is a rare sight still. Between training, and reading, and journeying out to perfect her skills, Ankhesenaten is still much afield. However, when she has the time, she enjoys traveling the city, and visiting with those she meets, sharing the warmth of Isis with all. Her smile is as natural and warm as the sunlight on a clear day, and she meets each person with a warm expression of blessing.

The young priestess managed to track down a Mulan man, adorned in all the finery of Osiris, who introduces himself as Ramas. After a while of speaking quietly in Hasrabet, Ankhesenaten and Ramas part ways. The priestess has a new spring in her joyous step and a beautiful smile on carmine lips. It would seem that finding more of her blessed people has renewed the young woman's hope.

A young, brown-skinned male clad in stylized blue and orange robes is seen with increasing rapidity in Djedet. He stands just shy of six feet, with a strong, sturdy build and rakish good looks, his hair a tousle of brown curls and eyes that are almost black any hint of shade. A golden earring curls in one lobe while the other appears to be damaged near the pierce and is missing its matching jewelry. Appearing to be accustomed to the sweltering heat, he nonetheless often goes in open vest and pants into the city, although the colors of said garment are usually similar.

The young man is gregarious with tips at Kafele's and with other vendors, often buying food, drink and medicines for others who would not otherwise be able to fend for themselves as the opportunity arises, but his presence is varied and random. Occasionally he is accompanied by a woman (although not always the same woman), often clad in armor and sheathed weaponry, who visit him and do not always leave before the morning. When in their company, his visits to the local establishments are brief.

He is often warded with magic, arcane enchantments swirling about his being as he returns from points unknown, but usually only for a matter of minutes, disjoining them while waiting patiently for Azizi to determine the value of goods he has found. Occasionally he is wounded; burned or cut or bleeding in some way, but he still manages to smile and show courteousness, making sure to bandage himself well enough that he does not mar the street or alarm anyone with his status.

Observant individuals would note that he seems to be residing somewhere in the city near the northern gate. The young man spends a good deal of time sunbathing and wrestling with a playful large panther in the sands near the grapevines and the wall. The great cat is never seen elsewhere nor does it abscond over the wall or prowl about without his presence.

If met in the street and offered any hint of conversation, he gladly pauses to say hello, and if the conversation is pleasant enough he will introduce himself with a genteel bow and smile.

"Hyzar yn Ayatoru el Saqhdan yi Almraiven, of Calimshan. It is my pleasure to meet you..."

The Arbitrator would take note of the comings and goings of people from the town, but as long as they don't cause trouble or spread heresy, the stocky, bear shouldered Mulan male takes no issue with them. He is as usual deposited beneath the tree when on duty or making notes as he surveys the buildings for some reason.

Watching Hyzar from the marketplace is a young Mulan priestess, her braided wig not hiding the three concentric circles on her forehead marking her class. She doesn't approach, keeping near the guards. Clearly, while the young woman is curious, she doesn't seek any nearer contact. Silver eyes, one of the few hints of her celestial heritage, scan the man intently, a hand on the holy symbol of Isis attached to her beaded collar.

Any who see the Arbitrator of late would note he seems more and more often burdened by large bundles of papyrus, scrolls and maps. These are placed with reverent care within his abode which more and more looks to be a cluttered library rather than the home of a soldier.

A rare sight in the desert, a very-fair skinned woman with deep red hair in a long braid has been seen coming and going in Djedet a bit; she nearly always heads straight toward Hyzar's home and stays for some hours before she heads back to other climes-- via raft, or via portal, sometimes accompanied by a copper-colored full-plate clad female who acts very protectively toward the diminutive and fair-skinned woman.

The voluptuous, fire-haired Lady is indeed welcomed when she appears, and seems to leave in good spirits well before the next morning.

The young, handsome Calishite often pauses his conversations when he sees Tauronemhet (right?) lumbering by with armfuls of parchment and books, getting the same look on his face that he has when he sees a flash of leg or a delicate neckline. Shaking his head, he returns to his conversation, although his mind wanders...

The Mulan priestess with the bright silver eyes often finds her attention returned, as Hyzar flashes a smile and a nod at her from across the marketplace whenever he happens to catch a glimpse.

The vendor selling honey is always given a very large tip, as Hyzar often replenishes his stores.

The large looming ebony skinned Obsidian wonders about the town. He visits with the merchant and waits outside the guardsman barracks or the Temple of Eight. Neither sleeping nor stopping for water. Waiting for the one called Tauronemhet.

A new face can be seen around Djedet... before she crossed the river she most notably knelled before the water and ritually drank from it. Wearing a white robe, sandals and a black wig, around her neck a symbol of an ankh and star on a lunar disk, on her for-head three circles painted in blue. She would walk around the settlement and ask the commoners who the official of the city was and would with to seek an audience with the ruling house. When asked her name she would state "Asiya, daughter of Fudail, son of Hazim of Al-Izdihar... priest to the Lady of Rivers".

Before the first meal A young female can be seen walking to the river that surrounds the settlement she would kneel down and cup the water in her hands and raise it to the sky...

Quote:
Great Holy Isis, Lady of Rivers and mother to Horus
I call to Thee.
Thy name is sweet upon my lips.
as is the water of life you give us
watcher of the harvest
I call to Thee.
Thy beauty engulfs my soul.
Mistress of the water that gives life
and husband to the one
who sewed the seed of the godking
Eye of Ra.
Embracer of the Land.
Come to me, Isis.
Join me in Your Holy Temple
And empower this rite.

*after her prayer the young female would drink from the water in hand and then rise and head back to her lodgings*

A young woman can be seen now and then, mainly on the main isle, but also struggling her way to Djedet to pray before the idol of Nephthys, if and when she can manage to find it. She's clearly not a priest or a mage, but instead is marked a freewoman of some learning, probably the middle class. Before long she's always off again, roving in search of hidden wealth for her Lady. Not adventuring; such a thing would be beneath her. But slowly, her tithes are growing, indicating some kind of steady income.

Sights of her around Wharftown and Uhm, always in the company of a curious woman, marked with tattoos of Old Celestial and with the lithe, balanced grace of a monk, hint at her source of income.

Within the walls of Djedat, a short figure, garbed in a sandy vest, with a cowl over his head and shoulders, begins a routine of wading through the crowd of residents and slaves every few days or so without a pattern. He appears rather curious, eavesdropping on residents as they enter and leave, gossip with one another, and haggle amongst themselves in trade. Should any passing residents request that the short figure lower his hood, in order to prevent him being mistaken for a potential halfling thief, he would obey the request eagerly. The figure would lower his hood briefly, revealing him to be that of a white-haired child with pointed ears.

… If one chooses to follow this youth, they would be halted by a stoic, hooded elven figure. Such a discussion between the follower and the elven figure would result in a quiet chat, where the elf would either pass them a small pouch of coins or pat the hilt of one of his two swords attached to his waist while thumbing to the youth in question; a warning suggestion to leave the youth alone.

Edit: Re-worded the second paragraph by DM request.

One woman watches, and no coins dissuade her. She's not so stupid as to be unable to recognize shady behaviour, and word is sent by her to House Helcaliant and House Osirant of this odd behaviour in the Land of the Eight.

((Miiight not want to dictate what the NPCs do. DMs frown on it.))

Tauronemhet on being informed of the stoic elf would casually point out that the authorities within the town supercede both coin and sword and special attention is now paid to both child and adult by every single guard within the town.

(Upon hearing the news of the child and the results of several incidents with citizens along with the added attention of the guards, Cedric would begin to look for the pair, asking guards mainly, for information.)

[Spoken in M]

I am AkhenOsiris Amon Khu, servant to the Justified One and House Osirant. I have concerns for the welfare of this child given the nature of his protector. It seems quite odd that such a protector would use coin and threat to conceal the child. At the very least, it should be further investigated as to why exactly it is that the protector feels the need to use either method to 'protect' his charge.

If you learn of anything, I would wish to hear it unless Lord Tauronemhet or others of authority do not wish it.

(He would mention to each guard or person of interest that speaks to him how Osiris delights in children and state that Cedric also does the same, taking great delight in them and thus, has great concern at the apparent secrecy that the actions of the stoic elf takes.)

The child is suddenly not there, nor is the silver dragon elf that was wandering the town.

The stoic elf, of whom was keeping an eye on the child, can be occasionally seen passing through Djedat. He makes small trades, here and there, with the local merchants. Without the child around, however, the elf only shows himself briefly before heading into the back alleys of the settlement.

(When the guards inform of seeing the protector without the child and that the child has been unseen for some time, he grows more concerned.)

I request that you question the elf with proper respect as to where his young charge has gone. It is increasingly odd how this is appearing. The child has disappeared and things seem very out of sorts.

Until I am told otherwise, I want to know what happened to this white haired elven child that has appeared and now, disappeared. I fear vileness may be at play.

Keep watch, I will be about the town.

Meskehenet is still rarely seen; when she is, she's dog-tired and filthy, but with a smile so brilliant she could light a room...even if she conspicuously avoids going near anyone so as not to get them dirty as well. Cheery greetings, and warm well-wishes are given to all, each respectfully, before she finds a cot to collapse on.

The stoic elf who previously loomed the streets of Djedat has vanished. The common people who witnessed the elf enter and leave a specific abode of his would soon realize that the property is now vacant.

A letter is handed to a local guard, to be delivered to one "Honored Priest: Cedric"

Honored Priest,

I apologize for leaving on such short notice, but my time here has reached an end. We'll meet again, perhaps ... Blessings upon your people.

Asiya moves about the settlement with some confidence... though she would leave a small note to Mahir Ramathant about needing to see him as soon as he is able.

Dios Sehenesphar, an elderly priest, can often be seen coming to and fro in Djedet, making himself known among the locals. Whenever he purchases from the town, he is always diligent in his payment of taxes. Often at night, he can be seen smoking at the water-pipe by Kafele's tavern

A new pair of arrivals are seen in Djedet. The large man, with a snow leopard cape and a good kopek and large animal skin shield, moves about a woman, rarely looking directly at her unless she requests it and always addressing her as Honored Priestess or Honored One.

He tends to her needs as she requests, often putting himself between her and anyone else until she tells him otherwise.

Around his neck hangs a symbol of Anhur and Geb.

He bears two notes of Exodus and can be heard inquiring where he needs to report as his Honored Priestess has decided they are to join the efforts within the letter.
