Legend: Realms Canon Amia Canon
General Information: Patron Diety: Osiris
Significant Dieties: Isis (Wife) Hathor
Centers of Worship: Mishtan: The capital of Osiris' worship and the heart of his following, Mishtan hosts the largest temple of Osiris known as the Gateway to the Afterworld. The temple resembles two concentric circles of pillars, large enough to contain rooms within, interconnected by graceful arches to all their neighbouring pillars. The temple adminsters the construction of Tombs in the Land of the Dead, the maintenance of the burial grounds of the Pharoah and his family, and the government of the city of Mishtan. Most orders affiliated with Osiris have their roots within the temple but roam the width and bredth of the Empire.
Jhalhoran: The City of Jhalhoran hosts the temple of shadows, the repository of lore pertaining to the rites of burial and laws of Osiris. The temple resembles a small pyramid of dark granite, with many outward facing doorways at ground level. It is eternally shrouded in shadow not caused by any obstruction of the Sun.
The Ruins of Sekras: Site of the penultimate battle between the worshippers of Osiris and Sebek, Sekras is located on the River of Swords. The culmination of the battle saw the city sacked by the Brotherhood of the Those that Smile in the Face of Death and the worshippers of Sebek evicted from the Mulhorandi empire.
Djedet: Recently rediscovered by Mulhorandi traders, Djedet was originally intended as an outpost for the house of Ramanthants(Anhurs) warriors as a counter to Thays Aloar. However politcal maneuvering by the House of Helcaliant(Horus-Re), the unexpected western influence in the neighbouring town of Nes'ek, the rural nature of the settlement and the vast amounts of tombs not remembered in the records at Jhalhoran prompted the Pharoah to withdraw support for Ramanthants claim and give favor to the House of Osirant.
The village has quickly re-adopted the ways of Mulhorand providing House Osirant and Osiris with a new source of Worship.
Significant Regions/Geography: The Great Vale: Considered the breadbasket of Mulhorand, it is this region where much of Osiris following is found. The city of Mishtan, the River of Spears and the Land of the Dead all hold great significance to the faithful of Osiris. The land is heavily irrigated and during the annual rainfall season much of it is flooded, leaving behind the rich black sediment known as Osiris' bounty.
Land of the Dead: East of the city of Mishtan lays the Land of the Dead, final resting place of the Pharoahs. During the flood season the slaves and artisans of the Great Vale devote their efforts to creating extensive tombs for the Pharoah and his extended family. The region also sees the highest concentration of Osiris clergy as they constantly guard against the encroachment of tomb raiders and devote their time to renewing the wards on tombs and calming the Ba component of the deceased's soul.
The River of Spears:It is the perfect example of the concept of Maat in the eyes of the Mulhorandi. From the streams and estuaries which begin in the Dragonsword mountains, pass through the Land of the Dead and into the Great Vale the River of Spears is formed. From death comes new life in the form of the annual floods which leave a black fertile silt.
Khem: The forgotten island of Khem is significant as it provides House Osirant with an untapped source of willing petitioners and new talent. The concept of Maat being firmly embedded in much of the society, even during the dark ages of Mulhorand's waning, allows for quick methods of indoctrination. The various tombs within the region are currently being assessed by the House, and the Ba of the souls entombed within are being soothed by the House' clergy.
The Khalem Delta: With the possibility of providing far more food during the harvest than the islands sparse inhabitants could possibly consume, House Osirant considers the Khalem Delta the most important non-sentient aspect of the Khem region. Efforts are being made to secure this region as totally as the House has secured Djedet. These efforts are thus-far proving successful.
The Temple of the Eight: Though currently unused by the House, plans are being made, and funds are being raised, to re-purpose the temple as a bastion of the Mulhorandi faith on the isle of Khem.
House Alignment: Lawful Good
House Responsibilities: Burial Preparations: The Passing of Eternal Contentment and Justice is the ceremony performed over the dead. Two versions exist; the Higher, individual ceremonies conducted for the nobility and the Lower, shorter ceremonies intended for the rest of the Mulhorandi race.
The Courts: The house acts as the court in non-religious or non-political civil cases deciding the outcome after consulting the Maat.
Judges: Where no court can be convened individual members of the House may pass judgement with the knowledge that their decisions will be weighed and measured by the House Magistrate or Arbitrator.
Justice and Lawful Retribution: The house, or individual, may dispense Justice as they see fit as-long as they do not break the covenant of the Maat. Not even the Pharaoh is above the Justice of House Osirant.
Overseeing the Harvest: The House in conjunction with the Clergy of Isis and Hathor oversee the Harvest, making certain that Quotas are met and that food is stored and rationed correctly.
Living Property: House Osirant sees to the well-being of all including the living property. Whereas the clergy of Horus-Re involves itself in disputes at state and government levels, House Osirant tends to the roots.
