Lets take nominations for a faction name.

All the ideas given will be put to a vote in about a week or so. Everyone will get 1st, 2nd, 3rd place vote. Each carrying a different amount of weight. This will be because there is some things people will love and others they will think meh, I can live with that and others, "to hell with that" feeling.

I prefer something that seems old. Maybe something with an egyptian name, Im unsure. I do want something that sounds religious, while sounding fight like, and somehow honors Mulhorand lore.

I will begin with the unofficial one that has been tossed around for some time

"Scions of the Eight"

Take a look at the faction titles of Canon factions in Mulhorandi.

Guardians of Skuld.
Brotherhood of those that smile in the face of death.
Order of the Risen Sceptre
Claws of the Sun and Ankh

I suggest something similar to that.

Order of the Feather

Or something along those lines.

Feathers play a remarkably important role in Mulhorandi society (Falcon of War, The Hawk, The Dove, The Lammasu, The Ibis and the Feather of Ma'at)

With what Mosh said...

There is Order of the Watchful Lion as well and a few others. Look em up!

Ubaid Sa Sat / Ubaid Moshe Asenath("faithful son [and] daughter", searched through the internet for those words. the and is in brackets becouse ancient egypts didn't have that word, according to one site. Ubaid is a name, as I didn't find it as a common word, but sa and sat are supposedly common spoken words for son and daughter. The ones after, Moshe and Asenath, are taken from the name list)

I'd nominate the Feathers or some form of name along those lines. Not everything needs to basgyptianised and something like the Feathers or the Order of the Feather or the Feather Sworn acutely describes the Mulhorandi mindset of every action in life being measured against the Feather of Ma'at.

Scions of the Feather Sworn

I just love the word scions. Definition fits with how I perceive us.

I say yes to anything involving feathers of ma'at. Considering ma'at itself is "Egyptian and Not Canon", it already doesn't need some sort of foreign title. It sounds exotic enough while not being incomprehensible. Besides, we're not Drow, we don't need translators. >>

Feathers of Ma'at or Chosen Feathers of Ma'at (something long those lines)

All sound great to me...Scions too...

Thakar would greatly enjoy the idea of the feather of Ma'at playing into the faction name. My mindset for him is Anhur in his mind has basically said the People need to get their greatness back and giving the time, DR 1380-81...it fits with the expansion of the Empire and the general call of the God-King for the people to return to their traditions.

I think

Scions of the Feather Sworn works for me.

Or the Feather Faith Scions just so we can shorten it to FFS.

I like Scions of the Feather. Not sure the sworn part is necessary, it just make it sound a little awkward to me.

Scions of the Feather sounds good to me (even if my char is on the outskirts of the group haha).

I have to agree that adding 'Sworn' seems cumbersome.

It is not nice to make fun of Ma'at or the Mulhorandi, you probably do not make fun of Bushido or the Samarai. Mulan justice is swift and brutally accurate, the punishment -always- fits the crime, and is seen by most as less than merciful. Because we represent Ma'at with a feather is no laughing matter, there are many proverbs about the effects a single feather can have on the outcome of things. The name need not have any importance to anyone but the Mulans. So.....

Scions of the Feather: Followers of the Eight.

They didn't worship feathers.

But the weight of your soul was weighed against one at your time of judgement and feathers played a HUGE part in their culture.

//IC

*Thakar draws his kopesh as the wetlander makes light of their beliefs*

Shall we see which of our souls tip the scale downward when the feather is placed against it wetlander?
