This note is posted publicly in the temple of Lathander and Kelemvor.

Quote:
I would humbly like to suggest that we hold a city meeting with the leaders of our faiths, and those who have been helping restore our lands, to discuss if we want to change or update the laws Nes'ek will hold to, as we begin this project of growth and rebuilding. People have been coming to me with questions and suggestions, and I do not want people to mistake me as the only voice in this. Leave your thoughts.

A response is forthcoming from Si'neela:

Talyne,

Nothing would please me more than to move forward with more establishment of the land and its people, as well as their safety. I will make myself available for any such meeting at your convenience.

~ Si'neela

And another, from Doomguide Farah and Father Merryhill:

Talyne of Isis:

We vow to open ourselves to availability for this opportunity. Perhaps you should also beseech the church of Hoar, which also shares our lands just several buildings away. Name a day and time, and we will appear.

- In His Name

The law signs of Nes'ek are updated.

Quote:
Welcome to Nes’ek! Here in Nes’ek, we do things a little bit differently. Our city is built on the foundation of an alliance of Faiths, one between the Sacred Ten of the Mulhorandi, and the Churches of Kelemvor, Lathander, and Hoar. We are governed by a representative from each faith, their advisors, and a Captain of the Guard that dutifully keeps us safe. We are a community cognizant of the lessons of the past, and we are dedicated to building this city on the very best ideals of Honor, Tolerance, Compassion, Enlightenment and Community. Our laws are meant to exemplify those pillars. We are steadfast against the Darkness, but we believe that the strongest tool against evil is to set a superlative example, with the Sword standing as a last resort.

Nes’ek claims dominion over all the lands of Khem, and we expect our laws to be followed regardless of where you find yourself in the Sands. You may believe yourself alone in the wastelands, but act foully against another, and the Gods will bring word of your deeds to our ears, and justice will follow.

Our laws are thus:

-We expect our lawfully deputized militia to be obeyed without argument, regardless of the text of the following laws. If you feel you have been mistreated, inform a Representative of Faith, or the Captain, after the incident.

- Violence against another is prohibited. The aggressor will be sentenced to a period of servitude to the community of Nes'ek, to be determined by the Captain, based upon the severity of the injury. Should the victim be a Nes'ek resident, the period of service will be to the victim's benefit. You are permitted to defend yourself against attack. Attacks resulting in the death of another will be brought to the Representatives of Faith to determine proper sentencing.

-Theft is prohibited. Thieves will be sentenced to a period of servitude to the the community corresponding to the value of the property, as determined by the Captain. Should the victim be a Nes'ek resident, the period of service will be to the victim's benefit. The attending guard may choose a small fine instead, for petty thievery.

-Casting spells or magic upon another without permission is prohibited. Saving someone on death’s door with healing is an exception, as they are likely not in any shape to give permission. No matter how harmless the spell, keep it to yourself unless you ask. Punishments vary depending on the strength and nature of the magic, and is left to the Captain’s discretion.

-Summons, pets, and familiars are permitted, though their owner is held entirely responsible for their actions. They are expected to not be a disruption or a nuisance. Daemons, Devils, or Demons are never permitted on the island under any circumstance.

-The creation or summoning of any Undead without express permission from the Church of Kelemvor or Osiris is prohibited. Those with Deathless companions (or happen to be one themselves) are asked to leave a note with the church of Kelemvor to avoid any misunderstandings. Unsanctioned undead will be destroyed on sight, and their masters turned over to the Church of Kelemvor.

-Keep your weapons sheathed or stowed in town. Spellcasters are permitted their staves. Given the climate, you are permitted head coverings, but the Guard reserves the right to order a brief removal for identification.

-Intolerance or cruelty towards another stemming from blood, gender, or religion is prohibited, as is the use of slurs. We value the ideals of Redemption and Community, and bigots will be asked to leave the island for a cooling-down period.

-We permit all faiths to reside in Khem in peace. However, open devotion to foul or evil powers is not permitted. This includes public praise, worship, or the display of symbols. If you wish to defile your own soul, you will be expected to keep it to yourself. Attempts to spread or flout vile faiths will result in permanent banishment. Our tolerance ends with the Serpent Lord, however. Followers of Set will be executed if found within our island.

-Exploitation of Khem’s natural resources without permission from Nes’ek’s leadership will result in removal from the island.

-Defiling Graves, Tombs, Land, or the Dead on Khem is prohibited. We also do not abide by senseless cruelty towards animals or wildlife. Punishment will be decided by the Representatives.
