// Zephyr made me do it. //

A small, dark-green book is placed in the library of Cordor. Flicking through the pages briefly, it appears to be a collection of songs. On the front is a small embossed title "Arade's Songs", and underneath the title is the author's name written in a smaller print. "Arade Quin". A small note on the first page indicates the author's general idea that common adventurer's rarely appreciate music, through a number of swear words and indecipherable rampage of scrawling. The scrawling halts mid-sentence, and the next page and then onwards is dedicated only to written songs. Only the gods know what tunes were stuck in his head at the time to match the lyrics.

I'm here now, in a world that's something new.
Adventurer's walk around with thousands, that much is true.
My own fate is small, my power obselete,
The challenges pitted to them will be something I can never meet.

Should I take a leaf out of their books,
Seek out for gold and glory, falling into the same baited hooks?

Although my life is small, and I have nothing to live for,
They go out there, seeking endlessly for more and more.

Perhaps I should...
Go ahead, live life large
Take the plunge, risk my own life!
Lower my head, ready to charge,
Live life, on the edge of a knife!

They seem to be doing it pretty well,
Taking on evil wrought from hell,
How many of them I don't know have fell?
For how many has the tone of death...
Rung from the bell?!

Although my life is small, and I have nothing to live for,
They go out there, seeking endlessly for more and more.

Perhaps I should...
Go ahead, live life large,
Take the plunge, risk my own life!
Lower my head, ready to charge,
Live life, on the edge of a knife!

The Phoenix Prophecy.

In my final pain I share these words to your hopeful gain.
When hunger walks the streets once more,
Three Swords shall rise again.
One wrought by bitter hate and strife,
One wrought by dragon's bane.
One wrought by true-light's judging knife,
Three Swords shall rise again.
To turn the tide of darkness,
To defend the sick and lame.
If you fail we are left hopeless, unless,
Three Swords shall rise again.

The Dancer.

When he walks, in the street,
The people all come outside to meet,
It always was, the greatest treat,
To see the man with the fleetest of feet.

Hey, ho, it was a merry old show,
The feet did fly and the audience did glow
They watched onwards, in astounded glee,
To see the sight that they did see.

Then one day, a challenge issued forth,
From a beautiful woman to the north.
A powerful dance, upon the earth,
To see exactly what the man was worth.

Hey, ho, it was a merry old show,
The feet did fly and the audience did glow,
They watched onwards in astounded glee,
To see the sight that they did see.

The man was bested, that was seen,
He fell to his knees in front of the land.
The womans eyes, they then did gleam,
She reached down and then took his hand.

Hey, ho, it was a merry old show,
The feet did fly and the audience did glow,
They watched onwards in astounded glee,
To see the sight that they did see.

Hey, ho, it was a merry old show,
The feet did fly and the audience did glow,
They watched onwards in astounded glee,
To see the sight that they did see.

The Temple of Love.

There's a temple in Cordor, on the north side.
Extravagantly decorated, right in plain sight.
Filled with extreme beauty deep inside.
It's the Temple of Love, come join the ride.

A tribute to goddesses, Sune and Eilistraee,
Showing true beauty, teaching salvation is the way.
Revel in the joy of the dance with Lliira.
The ideals of Sharindlar will let you go far.

It's the Temple of Love, the Endless Revel,
Taking the gifts from above, to a whole new level.
I never knew that people would live like this.
Living their lives in one long endless bliss.

Sheela Peryroyl, not the last nor the least,
Enjoys life in all its forms, from the romance to the feast.
There's also the elven goddess, Hanali Celanil,
The perfect embodiment that true love has a will.

All of these deities though can't quite compare,
To the High Priestess's deity that keeps alive this affair.
The goddess I'm speaking of is known as Sharess
Who grants extreme pleasure at the slightest caress.

It's the Temple of Love, the Endless Revel,
Taking the gifts from above, to a whole new level.
I never knew that people could live this way,
Trying a new pleasure every day by day.

Even lust is a fleeting thing,
Go there to have a massage, it'll last longer.
The food there makes you want to sing,
An hour in the sauna will make you feel stronger.

Every day for them is a celebration,
Yet frowned upon with consternation,
By those who are modest, timid or shy,
They back away and let life pass them by.

It's the Temple of Love, the Endless Revel,
Taking the gifts from above, to a whole new level.
I never knew that people would live like this.
Living their lives in one long endless bliss.

It's the Temple of Love, the Endless Revel,
Taking the gifts from above, to a whole new level.
I never knew that people could live this way,
Trying a new pleasure, every day by day.

Eyes on the horizon.

I don't know where you were hiding,
I don't know where you've been.
I don't know what you will be fighting,
I don't know what you've seen...
Can I follow, or am I too weak to be allowed?

You've set the pace, ran away toward your goal,
Hoping there's treasure, and not some giant hole.
It's now a race, others are seeking it too.
Trying to find the loot that's been eluding you.
But that's just not quite what I care about.

Bring me along, there's something out there that I want to see.
Take me along, 'cause there's something else I want to set my eyes on.
String me along, there's another place that I want to be,
I'll avoid the fights, 'cause I've set my sights, on the horizon.

I can see the impatience running through your veins,
What challenges are you now thinking of facing?
Your expenses are making your gold fall into the drains,
An idea springs, and you begin once more your dungeon casing.

You've set the pace, ran away toward your goal,
Hoping there's treasure, not another giant hole.
It's again a race, others are seeking it out.
The hoard beckons you, yet once more fills you with doubt.
You've run away once more, before you could hear me shout...

Bring me along, there's something out there that I want to see.
Take me along, 'cause there's something else I want to set my eyes on.
String me along, there's another place that I want to be,
I'll avoid the fights, 'cause I've set my sights, on the horizon.

Now for once, you've decided to hear my words.
Looking at me, like my desire is so absurd.
Is there really something wrong, trying to avoid my demise?
Looking for the real treasure, the scenes that lie before my eyes?

Watching you battle on, your arm held strong.
Your magical prowess, with unsurpassed finesse.
Why don't you trust me, is it something you can not conceive?
I just want to see the world, how is that hard to believe?

Bring me along, there's something out there that I want to see.
Take me along, 'cause there's something else I want to set my eyes on.
String me along, there's another place that I want to be,
I'll avoid the fights, 'cause I've set my sights, on the horizon.

Begin a new life.

I really don't know what to do with my life
The panic is setting in, I'm on the edge of that knife
Which way do I go, which path should I tread?
My unplanned future is filling me with dread.

I took a step and moved a little further on,
My life is rolling, starting to build momentum.
I hope this time, I don't get anything wrong.
I don't want to end up alone with no one.

This time I've taken the next step, set myself on a new track.
That stranger helped me get a job, figured I'd give it a crack.
I had nothing to lose, I had nothing to begin with.
My previous life may as well have been a myth.

Who really ends up sitting around all day,
Going nowhere yet trying to find your way,
When all I really had to do was say,
I want to begin a new life today.

I started working, I didn't really rush.
A step at a time, trying to figure my new job out.
It was a little much at first, my mind felt like mush,
One wrong move would send my senses lost and about.

Eventually I started to get the hang of things,
I finally managed to get myself in a stride,
Who really knows what the future brings?
I found a path, so I may as well enjoy the ride.

Who really ends up sitting around all day,
Relying on others charity to make your pay.
Your life isn't given to you on a silver tray,
I want to begin a new life today.

It still may not be quite what I want out of my life.
It's still better than living in eternal strife.
The indecision was plaguing me every step by step,
I found a way to move on, and I'm not out of my depth.

If this isn't the right path, then I'll have some experience.
It's not like finding your own way is an exact science.
Still, this new thing I'm doing is actually getting me paid,
Who knows, now that I'm meeting new people I might also get laid.

Who really ends up sitting around all day,
Going nowhere yet trying to find your way,
When all I really had to do was say,
I want to begin a new life today.

Who really ends up sitting around all day,
Relying on others charity to make your pay.
Your life isn't given to you on a silver tray,
I want to begin a new life today.

It may not be the right choice, but it may not be the only road.
All roads reach an intersection eventually,
Perhaps then I can turn, take a new path once more,
I'll keep walking on, I'll find the right path for me.

This is my legacy.

I stopped by in an inn,
Bought a beer on a whim,
Watched the fly have a swim,
Reached in and flicked it away.

Someone then noticed my lute,
He thought that I was a mute,
Passed me some of his loot,
Told me to play another day.

How about, instead,
I told you a fairy tale.
Would you like the story,
Of barmaidens and fine ale?
Long nights, sly knaves,
Secret cults and conclaves?
I'm a storyteller, you see,
This is my legacy.

After that word had spread,
Something came I had dread,
With a hushed word I was lead,
I was to play for a king.

It's something a lowly bard should fear,
It's tough to impress a lord in his lair,
Had a brief thought, a risky dare,
When he commanded me to sing.

How about, instead,
I told you a fairy tale.
Of dark times, long rides,
Black knights in darker mail?
Defeated by a prophecy,
Of dragons and destiny?
I'm a storyteller, you see,
This is my legacy.

On the way home I was put in danger,
Got easily rescued by a ranger,
She warned me not to be a stranger,
So I went along in the direction of her fire.

I then told her my skill, as I followed along,
Stories of power, tales of right and wrong,
She asked me to sing, a completely different song,
Because rarely could a minstrel earn her ire.

How about, instead,
I told you a fairy tale.
Of a water nymph by the sea,
Riding an ocean whale?
A lonely elf, watching on,
Wanting to surf along?
I'm a storyteller, you see,
This is my legacy.

This completes, this tale,
Catered to that audience.
The tavern drum, the bored king,
The ranger with clairvoyance.
The moments of light, I had gleamed,
Of legends that I had dreamed.
I'm a storyteller, you see,
This is my legacy.

When I'm gone, will you tell my story?
Or will I fall victim to history's bane?
Curse my name, shower me in glory?
Or be the unwritten words of an empty page?

Please don't.

I've seen you walking out on the street,
I've been kind of hoping that we could meet.
I tried to smile to you as you went past,
You smiled back yet continued walking fast.

I saw you later at night, at the local bar,
You were watching me, from quite afar.
Your eyes called to me, innocent and blue,
I mustered up the courage and talked to you.

We were laughing a lot, and you looked pretty fine,
I went for a kiss, I was out of line.
You called it a night, perhaps another time.

Please don't, forget about me,
Just because, when I close my eyes,
It's always, you that I see,
Watching life, passing us by.
Please don't, forget about me,
Can we meet, just for one more night?
I know you, prefer to be free,
Stay with me, until the morning light.

The next day I couldn't help but feel awkward,
Waking up in the morning, all alone.
The girl that I really liked, and I was too forward.
That's what I get for leaving my heart prone.

The street was empty this time, I walked it often enough,
I walked back to the bar, looking for you,
I don't really know, perhaps I'm in love,
Opened the door and met your eyes so blue.

We were laughing a lot, and you looked pretty fine,
You went for a kiss, I thought you might be mine,
You called it a night, perhaps another time.

Please don't, forget about me,
Just because, when I close my eyes,
It's always, you that I see,
Watching life, passing us by.
Please don't, forget about us,
The few times, we shared together,
When you look, into the stars,
Just like them, we can be forever.

I went looking for you, wondering why,
What exactly you really see in me.
This time you were talking with another guy,
My heart was broken, I was about to leave.
Until you saw me and pushed him aside,
We shared a kiss, that made me truly believe.

I'm glad you didn't, forget about me,
Just because, when I close my eyes,
It's always, you that I see,
Watching life, passing us by.
Please don't, forget about me,
Can we meet, just for one more night?
I know you, prefer to be free,
Stay with me, until the morning light.

Please don't, forget about me,
Just because, when I close my eyes,
It's always, you that I see,
Watching life, passing us by.
Please don't, forget about us,
The few times, we shared together,
When you look, into the stars,
Just like them, we can be forever.

*some pages near the end of the book seem as if they were torn out in haste upon discovery.*
