Mummy Dust

The actual prerequisite is not the ability to cast level 9 spells, but being an epic cleric, druid, sorcerer, or wizard, or having at least 15 pale master levels. Furthermore, this feat can only be chosen when gaining a level in the qualifying class.

Quoted from Nwnwikia.

Though, on Amia, has it been changed, for , according to NWNwikia all one needs for Mummy Dusts is to be an Epic Caster?

viewtopic.php?p=1121583#p1121583

It's pretty widely known on the server :p

And a cleric without epic spells, especially a melee one, is asking to get owned. Not having GR hurts, and not having 7-9 spells hurts too. Not having EQ is detrimental as well since it's possibly the best cleric spell, at least on offense. 18 CHA is way too much, there's really no need for that. Plus, you are a melee cleric with the same APR as a caster cleric, that's obviously not good. If you want the ECL race you will need to have 23/5/1 to get EWS and 4 APR or go 24/4/1 get 4 APR skip EWS or else deal with only 3 APR and EWS.

Greater Restoration is good to have, too, because it's like a super heal for if you get any status effects as well. SoV is good for crowd control in PvE, too, but not necessary. You'll only have the slots for a few but with Silent Spell you can queue up more EQ's in the level 9 slots, too.

Ah, I see.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not sold on the EQ argument though. A melee cleric casting EQ's would result in a crummy DC most enemies would pass, and those with evasion would ignore entirely.

I can't comment on the saves aspect for it in PvE mostly because my one melee cleric ran with +12 WIS gear as well, so that skews things a bit haha. I would imagine a melee cleric would probably be more apt to focusing on STR/CON with WIS secondary. But, I dunno. EQ worked fine on the build from what I recall, but SoV was used a lot, too, so I might be mis-remembering. On my healer cleric she does awesome with EQ, but she has 27 levels and a few extra WIS points haha.

Yeah, it's one of those types of builds. Just wondering on the viability and all, especially with the Evoc/Necro combo. Necro is staying of course, but is there a better replacement for Evoc? Utility spells are nice, perhaps Enchantment? I dunno, I like the thought of tugging around a skelly familiar, Pharaoh, and a Dommed undead XD

Kicking it up to the new page.

I'm a fan of transmutation as a school personally, though it does mean the loss of conjuration and rez scrolls, which is a nasty hit.

Transmutation gives you nothing really, though. School specialization at present is not worth it really.

Cratz, if you mean me it's an unmade character but I always go Gerneralist.

I'm mostly just looking to see if ESF: Evoc is good or if I should just go a different ESF like Enchantment for DOm Monster and crowd control stuff. I mean, I guess I could also drop the Spell Pen feats for a third ESF, too?

Evocation and Necro are the two toughest foci in the game, with the only possible exception being Abjuration for Banishment, imho.

Evocation nets you Sunburst and Greater Thunderclap in this case, which are both amazing spells.

It's a very 'stock' build, so I'm not sure what you're unsure about. The only thing is the spell penetration line of feats are for the most part extraneous on a 29 caster level wizard, but it's nothing that will hurt you given the abundant bonus feats of human and wizard. Keep in mind though that with the Amian changes, a third foci tree in either abjuration or divination is always good for utilities sake.

Yeah mostly I'm just trying to figure the foci's out. I've only ever used Necro/Evoc (my 30 wiz) and Abjur/Div (my spellsword) as foci's so I am not sure about the rest. I'm considering dropping the Spell Pen's in favor of ESF: Enchantment, since Dom Monster and such would be nice to have for utility, too.

Abjuration, divination and enchantment are one of the best schools i know for rp purposes.
But necromancy is awesome, too, for the massive horrids and banshee wails.

YEah he's going to be a undead focused wizzy so ESF: Necro is a must XD

Think I'm settling on Necro/Evoc/Enchant for the ESF and drop Spell Pen, it was just thrown in to take up space haha. Thanks all.

I'm thinking about an Earth Genasi. I think they're just considered regular character level. But let's say I play something with an ECL +1. Does that mean the max level I could go to would be 29?

Also, if I pick Human and go Earth Ganasi, would I lose the extra feat and extra skill points?

+1 ecl races can only go to level 29.
And no you will keep the extra feat. You only get a different set of ability bonuses

Thanks. If I keep the feat I'm assuming I keep the extra skill point per level too?

No, you lose that as it's tied to the race, and your race gets set to Outsider.

Quick question. How much Set Trap is enough to be of use? would 15 Set Trap allow me to set down at least moderately decent traps?

Someone give me the pros and cons here?

Melee-based Faluzure DDPM:

4 Bard/16 PM/10 DD

vs

4 Bard/10 PM/16 DD

Currently 4B/2PM atm.

4 Bard/16 PM/10 DD: More armor class, higher DCs on your graft touch attacks, the oppourtunity to pick up to three epic spells with the proper caster-stat investment (mind though that epic mummy dust and dragon knight will have a duration of nil so epic mage armor, greater ruin, and hellball are the only viable choices).

4 Bard/10 PM/16 DD: A more potent breath weapon.

Pre-epic: Weapon Focus: Heavy Flail, Toughness, Power Attack, Dodge, Mobility, Expertise, Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack, Cleave, Weapon Specialization: Heavy Flail, Great Cleave, Weapon of Choice: Heavy Flail, Improved Critical: Heavy Flail, Blind Fight, Iron Will

Epic: Great Strength I, Epic Weapon Focus: Heavy Flail, Overwhelming Critical: Heavy Flail, Epic Prowess, Great Strength II, Devastating Critical: Heavy Flail, Armor Skin

41AB with basic items. I want more AB! No idea what the AC would be. Would max discipline, spellcraft, taunt, tumble, umd.
--------------------------------------
I considered going earth genasi but I can't take losing an extra maxed skill. Also I couldn't accept losing 2AB to fit in 4 damage from EWS. KD and IKD would have been nice, I guess I could change WS and Iron Will for it... hmmm. Can anyone point out any blatant mistakes or things worth changing? Thanks :D

If you take that bard level, you're going to be incredibly easy to dispel. All of your potions and buffs will be considered to have a Caster Level of 1. If you replace bard with something like rogue or monk, you won't have that problem.

Drop the bard for rogue. Otherwise you will count as level 1 caster for purposes of dispelling, and your pots will get dispelled a lot. And in epics there's decent number of mobs that have Greater Dispelling (fire giant witches, mind flayers and the like).
You can cross class Spellcraft for +3 to saves vs. spells, unless you expect to PvP alot since curse song might bring you down to negative skill modifier, which actually brings penalties to saves vs spells (if you have at least 1 rank in the skill). Wands of silence might work to counter that, but it's tricky thing to say the least.
Get at least KD, to cover situations when you fight enemies immune to crits. Iron will won't help at all really, with negative wisdom modifier and generally pathetic will saves (mostly) pure fighter builds have.
Also, that's the reason to evade outsider races in general, low will save + Banishment/Word of Faith = instalose. Mind blank doesn't protect you, and Spell Mantles won't trigger unless enemy is dumb enough to target you directly with Banishment. You will already have enough trouble maxing strength, fort saves and getting decent constitution to actually withstand punishment you'll be receiving for having no shield, to actually bother with improving will saves.
Investing in Heal skill is also good, since heal potion nerf. It's good to heal yourself between spawns, at least.

@edit:
With this build, maxxed strength and +4 weapon (which is easily obtainable), you'll have 51 ab.
Ac will be in low-mid 40's, with all +4 gear and 30 ranks in tumble.
Also, UMD is a must, at least to be able to use scrolls, potions.

Oh wow I did not know that. By taking 1 level of a caster, every buff on me will seen as a level 1 buff? Even things cast by high level clerics/mages? Is that some kind of bug?

Well that's a bit of a kick in the balls. I was hoping for a high AB high damage guy that could solo most things except casters. Becoming a weapon master with the battleaxe is also another idea to help with AC.

I guess I'll have to rethink things. I definitely want a WM and I'm not really attracted to dex based, even if it's easier to get higher AB and AC on them. The image I had in my head was of an older, 'tough', retired soldier or something. Evil alignment. Probably F/WM/R is the best to go - I just need to decide on what levels to take and keep my AB as high as possible. I want to be able to hit everything

No, it only works on potions that you use (potentially wands/scrolls as well, but I have never been able to confirm that).

I need to clarify because it sounds like you said potions act as if level one.
They do, but only against "Dispell" checks!

Durations and effect are the same.

Need Suggestions on a drow wm build. It's tricky with the +2 ecl.
I know there's two standards - One with a lot of fighter levels and one with 16 wm levels. How do they look and is there other?

Mine is 14F/13WM/1R.

I attempted the 16 WM but that is a bit too much with the +2ecl.
It is a decent build

Isn't the key levels in WM to have 7 or 16?
What's your ab/Ac starting points etc?

13 Gives a +1 ab as well Muspelkvist. 16 is preferred obviously because if you investy 6 levels, 9 levels isnt so much more for the same +1 ab. The question you ask is +1 AB worth losing 6 levels of fighter? Or losing evasion from Rogue, etc. Some would say yes, some would say no.

Here's the drow WM build I came up with with the help of Sune & Co:

Fighter(20), Rogue(1), Weapon Master(7), Drow

STR: 18 (26)
DEX: 13
CON: 10
WIS: 10
INT: 16
CHA: 12

01: Fighter(1): Dodge, Mobility
02: Fighter(2): Weapon Focus: Longsword
03: Fighter(3): Expertise
04: Fighter(4): Weapon Specialization: Longsword
06: Fighter(6): Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack <-- Current level
07: Weapon Master(1): Weapon of Choice: Longsword
09: Weapon Master(3): Knockdown
12: Weapon Master(6): Improved Critical: Longsword
15: Fighter(8): Power Attack, Improved Knockdown
17: Fighter(10): Blind Fight
18: Fighter(11): Cleave
19: Fighter(12): Great Cleave
21: Fighter(14): Great Strength I, Epic Weapon Focus: Longsword
23: Fighter(16): Overwhelming Critical: Longsword
24: Fighter(17): Armor Skin
25: Fighter(18): Devastating Critical: Longsword
27: Rogue(1): Epic Prowess
28: Fighter(20): Epic Weapon Specialization: Longsword

I don't have the actual build because it's at home but that's the gist of it. Because of the ECL+2 it's better going 7 WM, I'm told. Plus then you can smack in Dev Crit as well.

Gah, so I'm still playing around with weapon masters. The Drow build above is nice and I considered that too, but I get stuck with this problem...

I have 2 regular epic feats and 1 bonus feat left. I have yet to take Epic Prowess or Armor Skin, but I could also use those 2 regular feats to take Great Strength I and II.

1) Great Strength I, II, Epic Prowess
2) Great Strength I, II, Armor Skin
3) Armor Skin, Epic Prowess, [general epic feat]

Which is better? I'm tempted towards 1 because I'm horny for AB. I'm guessing 3 would be better but I'm unsure of what extra epic feat to take.

Thanks a bunch! Final question - Are there any Epic dodge builds for drow which involves WM? Seems like a smart thing to take into account considering their DEX bonus?

Rogue 13 / Fighter 8 / WM 7 seem good for the DEX based drow? Or Rogue 15 / Fighter 6 - for 1d6 higher sneak at the cost of a feat. I'd use the former. Alternatively, assuming you'll use a rapier, you could just go for 5 WM levels, but I'm kind of iffy about that.

How bad/good(?) would a Kobold's +2 Dex/-4 Str make a pure Monk build? Would I simply need to dump points in str?

Concentration 33(36), Craft Armor 9(14), Craft Weapon 9(14), Discipline 33(37), Heal 33(33), Spellcraft 30(35), Tumble 30(30), UMD 32(30)

Hitpoints: 236
Skillpoints: 209
Saving Throws (Fortitude/Will/Reflex): 18/16/10

Haven't decided on the ESF yet, though leaning towards Abjuration cause it's a cool school and all. But: DWARVEN WARAXE, WOO!

edit: Lack of Imp Crit makes me sad, too, though.

Drop toughness or great fortitude and rearrange feats to get imp crit if you want it.
You could also switch strength and intelligence to get 18 int asap and therefore more skill pts.
Abjuration is school to go with spellblade.

Yeah, I think Toughness would be best to drop. The +2 Fort is better, really, and the extra CON from Dwarf balances the Toughness out well enough. Could swap 17 STR for 15 and get 18 INT, yep yep. 18 more skillpoints then.

Mostly made the build for interested people, lol. Be a while before I make it, even for fun and screwing around. I just had the idea so I built it up haha.

I know we discussed a similar build lastnight, and we decided on 25 wizard. But once wizard hits epic levels, they get a bonus feat every 3 levels, I discovered. So 23, 26. Just an idea to go 26/3/1.

Yep, however you loose Weapon Spec and EWS going less than 4 fighter. So it's the choice between a bonus wizard epic feat or +6 damage all the time. 25 wizard also nets you 1d12 Flame Weapon as opposed to 24 wizard, just FYI.

Looking to make a temporary character to help lowbies build and grind.

At this point I'm thinking Cleric.

Any suggestions on build?

Quick follow on question to the 'help lowbies' build. Is there any god that has the domains of Trade and Community? I'm guessing community Only adds to your HP and not to everyone present, but those two domains seem to fit the basic idea nicely (In a strictly build perspective).

No god offers both.
