Hello I'm just starting on the Amia server, and was wondering if there were any Races/Classes/Alignments that are over used on the server. I understand that obviously there will be a lot more of certain types by default (Such as normal Humans), but I was just wondering if there were a lot of anything in particular. I didn't want to make (For example) an Evil Wizard only to find out most people are Evil Wizards and there is no one to RP the good guys.

I would say that everything is rather varied and to play anything you would enjoy ! I am sure you can find a spot where most if not all concepts can be integrated. Welcome to Amia! Enjoy your stay and visit Ruathym! LB

think most important thing is to make something you want to play if that means you have to be unlike someone else id avoid making a wizard or a weapon master

Class/race aside, I think the evil character pretending to be good so they can be evil is WAY over done. :/

Do I understand this right that there is not enough of "direct" evil?

Lets not loose sight of the OP's question with a debate over semantics and technicalities.

Hey,
I think you will find almost any character on Amia, so you really should play a character that you find interesting and feel confident to play. As a secondary goal, I suggest you make a character that other characters can interact with easily and not a loner. Neutral or good characters have it easier, too, and surface characters definitely have it much much easier.
Regards Ts

Good and Evil on Amia react like matter and antimatter, partly due to the nature of the setting. We do have a saturation of matter, so an evil PC without any sort of sugar coating is likely to pop. If people want fewer evil PCs masquerading as good, they should do something to allow those PCs to openly display their nature

Wasn't directly part of the question, but it seems to me like maybe two-thirds of PCs are female. Seems like lots of male players are cross-gendering and not a lot of female players are. If you want to play something unusual, roll up a male elf or halfling.

We could also state what is underused instead of overused: - gnomes - archmages without moustaches (even Aiseth sports one!) - drow - beggars

I'd say gnomes are easily the rarest out of that list. Poor little gorilla-armed things.

Only characters i've played that are male was a dwarf (lets face, male/female its really hard to tell there!) and an overweight sorcerer!

A mentally and physically broken male or female dwarf that was discarded by Underdark captors, and tossed out like yesterdays paper, suddenly finding his/her way to the upper world. Mangled and broken. Only knowing to obey commands and getting experimented on.
That's too overused.
You can't really go wrong.

We barely have to bend over to pickup that fallen widget from our fiendish experiments. Besides if there were more gnomes, particularly female ones, the consequences could be earth shattering.

I'm pretty impressed with the question. I thought I was so creative when I first started and quickly realized that creativity (here) is best done by making something that seems boring into something with far more depth. I'd suggest starting simple. A human, elf, half-elf, dwarf. There are definitely less male PCs overall. There is a distinct lack of paladins right now (both good ones and crazy ones) and a distinct lack of assassins (both lawful ones and chaotic ones). I think both of those got a little bit of their heart beat out of them (as you might be able to tell by some posts in this thread already). But like Akhlys said, the most important part is picking something you WANT to play, too! You're the one who has to live with the concept inside your head all the time.
