Candlekeep. A towered fortress that stood on a crag overlooking the Sea of Swords. Known to hold one of the greatest libraries filled with books and scrolls of knowledge. Home to many scholars and monks who worshipped Oghma, Deneir, Gond and Mill. The known sea captain Jason, who often visits the Slanty Shanty in Wharftown, would tell a tale of his most recent visit to the fortress. The standard first tale would go as follows:
"Well, Gerty needed a 'and gettin' to the place an' all. So we sailed to the nearest cliff an' voila! Up we went, made our way to the Way of the Lion then got stopped by a guard. Tome of importance? Pft... who carries that. Luckily Gerty 'ad one and we were allowed in. Apparently tho, the library was closed 'cos of some stolen books but eh. Should be opening soon- can't stay closed forever."
Captain Jason would offer to take adventurers, explorers and the like onboard his ship, the 'Queenie II', for a fee of 500. He would tell any passengers they should expect a day's travel, not including walking. Those visiting must offer a book of value in order to gain entry to the fortress.
