Okay folks soon there will be Shieldmeet events (next week) so I want gaps in my knowledge filled, if you know anything (that has sources) about Shieldmeet post them here. I'll be editing this post soon to show the Amian's what their character should know about this epic festival. (Think australian Christmas, but with less theft.)

I imagine you've seen the 3e FRCS blurb, or someone else will post it while I'm typing this. I imagine it's very similar, can't recall.

Faiths & Avatars, Powers & Pantheons and Demihuman Deities (the 2e deity trilogy, way better than F&P) also lists the holy days of every faith, and I believe several fall on Shieldmeet. The contract renewal thing they do is pretty important to Oghmanytes and Deneirrath.

Religious celebrations on Shieldmeet; all of the following is paraphrased or directly quoted from deity entries in the FRCS or Faiths and Pantheons:

Angharradh - The Melding of the Three, celebrated on Cinnaeloscor (the Day of Corellon's Peace - the elven name for Shieldmeet); moon elves celebrate the tripartite aspects of the goddess and the unification of the Three that have led to centuries of peace in Arvandor and elven realms in Faerun. In addition to singing great hymns to the Triune Goddess, faithful often assemble to invoke great feats of cooperative magic on this day.

Beshaba - devotees of the goddess observe both Midsummer and Shieldmeet with wild revels of destruction and rudeness

Corellon Larethian - not a religious holiday of his faith; however, this holy day is more generally observed by elves in honor of the Creator of the Elves

Helm - Ceremony of Honor to Helm (Helmite religion's only holy day)

Kelemvor - annual holiday, involving the telling of Deeds of the Dead, so that they never be forgotten

Marthammor Duin - years featuring Shieldmeet see much celebration on the celebration day and the nine immediately thereafter; the celebrations are open to the public (even nondwarves) and generally feature the ritualized burning of used ironwork and footwear; loud singing and the imbibing of strong spirits plays an important (some would say necessary) role at all such events

Mielikki - On years when Shieldmeet follows Midsummer, the Wild Ride continues for that day and night, if desired

Oghma - Midsummer/Shieldmeet are holy to Oghma, and are days when agreements are made or renewed and contracts are signed

Selune - Conjuring of the Second Moon, a ceremony which calls the Shards, who are blue-haired female planetar servants of the goddess, to do the bidding of the clergy usually to battle the minions of Shar), after which one of the clerics joins the ranks of the Shards. This ceremony is a coordinated chant at every temple of Selune in Faerun

Solonor Thelandira - Each Shieldmeet (Day of Corellon's Peace / Cinnaeloscor), the followers of Solonor assemble to compete in great archery meets. The winner of such contests are said to receive Keen-Eye's blessing

Torm - Shieldmeet is a day for oath-making or oath-renewing
