One of my favorite TV characters is Morgan from AMC’s The Walking Dead. His badass monkish mojo got me thinking about a Quarterstaff Monk. So, after brainstorming backgrounds I’ve built Kingfisher. His build nets KD/IKD plus Disarm/Improved Disarm plus Max Ranks in Parry. A whole series of feats/modes which I can use to represent foot sweeps, wrist blows, and death defying weapon deflections.

My main reason for posting is to ensure I have a good handle on Parry. I’ve read the Wiki, and all prior forum posts which mention it, which are scarce since it seems largely ignored as a skill . I understand it’s only able to deflect the first attack in each of the 3 flurries. In situations with multiple opponents you can only deflect attacks up to the number of attacks at your disposal. If an opponent has 4 attacks then he could Parry and potentially Riposte against attacks 1,3,4 but attack #2 in the 1st flurry would be resolved normally. Against 5 attacks he could Parry the same 3 with 2 resolved normally. It’s limited but could be useful circumstantially, so I’d have to be discerning on when to activate it. It could also be handy from a roleplay perspective when dueling or something so I’m going to keep it even if it’s not a big benefit mechanically.

Question #1 – Do I have all of the above correct? Am I missing anything?
Question #2 - If he has 6 attacks normally but is hasted does that mean he could Parry 7 attacks?
Question #3 – If your Riposte kills an opponent do you get a Great Cleave too?
Question #4 - Is it feasible I’d ever need more than 80 Parry? By feasible I mean normally, not some weird combination of unfortunate events. It seems like if you have 80 Parry and you’re fighting something that has 50AB or less (most mobs) it’s pretty much a guaranteed Riposte for 3 attacks which would include the top Attack.

Parry is actually broken and will not let you riposte more than 3 attacks a round.

With a high AC, AB and parry skill, I can see it being fun against melee opponents. You effectively lower their AB by 5 and APR by three, buuuut you can't do anything against natural 20's (critical), which is a shame, and if someone dis- and reengages you have to be quick on the buttons. Sounds like it might be fun though. It makes potential knockdowns from the opponent hard to perform.

Works great against opponents with ONE APR.

If you have a high Ac and high AB, you'r ebetter off just actually swigning your own 5-6-7 attacks at them, though.

My guy is a strength monk and will not have a high AC although his AB will be respectable. I thought it might be a good defensive tactic one on one against higher AB enemies by deflecting three attacks assuming you can get ranks high enough. It's skill versus AB. A Boss perhaps? There is no immunity to this in melee besides a High AB and more than 3 attacks right?

I think they might fix parry at some point with the modification of the improved parry feat...at least that was on the dev agenda not too long ago. There was a thread about that or something!

Actually, that would be great. I have Improved Parry on his feat list , although I was just taking it for the extra skill points.
