Yo. So I found myself a so called openGL interceptor which could resolve the issue some of you might be experiencing.

Found here: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=964767fb ... 3A645B!892 (Until I find a better place to host it)

Download the openglhaxxing.zip (Suspicious looking name indeed!)

Extract it into the nwn folder, same as nwmain.exe is located in. What does it do? It removes a vertex buffer extension which could fix some compatibility with nwn old openGL routines. I tried it briefly myself with errorchecking and got a slight increase of fps but I've not played much nwn.

If you do try it let me know what happens even if there is no noticeable effect or adverse effects. Incase of the later delete opengl.dll from the nwn folder to remove it.

How exciting! What is it? I.. guess if i don't know what a vertex buffer extension is, i don't have the issue?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertex_Buffer_Object

Its a bunch of voodoo and witchcraft for most people. But the bottomline its supposed to be correcting a compatibility issue with nwn and newer drivers when rendering or pushing the boundaries of what nwn was intended to be. For example if your FPS drops from 300 to 30 when someone equips a cloak it should resolve that along with mirror on some textures or if your graphicscard ignites when someone spawns a mistdragon. Possibly stability in general.

Oh Terra, talk nerdy to me! <3

Would this be a useful thing to try in general? Like is this just an awesome make the old girl run better magic trick or if she runs mostly okay i would be better off not screwing with it?

I had a whole lot of crashing issues when i first got back, did a clean instal and everything and i still had issues for awhile, but then it just magically stopped somewhere along the way. I still get a weird bug sometimes where i see to disconnect but not really. Like i can use a spell, but nothing happens, if i log out and come back, the effect is there. Othertimes i notice that if i type over 3 lines worth of words (using the 2 boxes) nothing will show up on my screen, but apparently others see it.

You can always try, this is how development occurs ^^ Just made backup of files it overwrites (if any), and delete it if it screws you up :P

The process of development/debugging usually looks something like this:

Its a very mental-emotional process that requires complete disregard of any sanity that you might or might not already have abandoned.

Posting here because I don't understand. :P

So... I've tried updating my NWN. You know, when you install the game again, and then join multiplayer it gives this: DO you want to update thing..

Well I want to.. Buuuut!

Is this red part a problem. . . ?

EDIT: So my version is "Your game version is: 1.59.8037 English"

And I can't update to: "Latest Game Version Available: 1.69.8109"

Is there a way to fix this? :(

It actually doesn't overwrite anything, just adds a folder and a couple files :3

This is highly accurate.

Uhh I think that's the 1.69 critical patch? Maybe? I dunno, haven't used NWN to update itself in years, since way before the servers went down heh.

Do I need that critical patch to play the game? :/

EDIT: Yes, I need to have updated version in order to get inside. Otherwise:

"The Server and Client versions do not match" :/

EDIT: YEs, updated the game by a link I found and now it runs perfectly. Will be seeing you guys in game soon!

Here is link to the solution, just in case someone else needs it..:

Or just grab the critical rebuild off the vault:
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ot ... il&id=1505

I'm installing whatever Terra posted, since my NWN runs like crap (and it really shouldn't, with 3.8ghz cores, and 16GB of RAM, even without a graphics card). We'll see if it helps.

There appears to be no noticeable change in performance, not for me at least.

Post subject:  Re: Got issues with nwn? Look here!

As someone who recently re-installed NWN, a lot of the Critical Rebuild links, even on the net, have gone down. This one still works.

http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn ... ld-english

If, when you log in, character's hair, skin, and clothes all go silver and reflective, this is what you need. Even if you download all the HAKs and get NWN complete edition, you can still have this problem. I would suggest keeping the link somewhere visible to new players, like maybe the New to Amia section. The link there for the 1.69 update is down anyway.
