If you used gog to get a key you need to request a multiplayer key.
If not.. well, maybe someone's using your CDKey.

Please help, I've played with this cdkey and account (Nefzen Lynx) always from the same computer and IP (i can give a DM the ip). Since this afternoon I cannot login since someone is using the same key, apparently. Error message when attempt to login: Quote: Server found. Attempting to log in. Connection to server has failed. Connection error: Your CD Key is already in use on that server. I tought that the CD Key was associated with an account.. how come that two accounts can login (not at the same time, as I witnessed) with the same CD Key? How can I fix this? I should get a new CD Key, login and request that my character is transfered to the new key? Thank you for your support! |

I don't think that's the case. I've encountered that problem myself, in the past - it just kind of happens and, in my experience, is fixed on its own. All I did when this happened to me was wait and after a while had no problems what so ever. |

If you're playing with a "free" cd key from the internet, this issue is likely to occur. |

So I tried with a new key. The problem is that my character is bound to my old key. So I think that it works like that: A character is bound to a key, but a key is not bound to a character nor user, i.e. you cannot use the same character with another key, but you can use the same key to use another character. Even from a different user. |

The key-binding is a system to prevent someone taking over your account via some security hole in NWN; maybe it had to do with Gamespy stopping account authentication? Anyway, you can add a new key to your list of accepted keys by making a new PC (on your new key/old account) and contacting a DM in game. |

Thank you. I created a new character (will level it eventually, doing so now) and waiting for a DM. Hopefully my main character story can continue
