Hi team,

I just wanted to say playing as a Hobgoblin, I am unable to travel around in the Underdark (cranes and doorways; have darkvision). Is this a bug, and can it be corrected?

Thank you.

Hobgoblins aren't really a UD race. I believe you were looking for Orogs?

The reason I asked, is because the Hobgoblin sub-race receives Dark-vision. Dark-vision I thought was enough to allow free travel through the "cave tunnels".

As far as I understand the UD, it is a lot more difficult to get around there than just by what you SEE. You have to understand the monsters and area hazards own there. At least thats how I understand it.

On the other hand, IMO it doesn't really make sense. I mean, look at the FGK lair. If that is lava(/magma)... What can really be more dangerous in the UD? Poisonous gas? Acid? I mean seriously, what is so much more dangerous than stone heated up to around 1000°C?
Or is the danger losing your sense of direction? How do people not lose their direction elsewhere? Do we have a compass? Then why doesn't it work there? MAYBE an explanation like "you are orienting by the stars, moon and sun..."

as far as i know the areas you don't actually 'go' to in the UD are basically crazy 3d honeycomb mazes that you have to get through by knowing how deep you are and how deep you want to go. it's not just a cave, it's a hyper-disorienting natural but unnatural labyrinth of tubes that you, iirc, can't even teleport around in, because it's so hard to tell where exactly you are or are trying to go.

that's why some races are born of the underdark, molded by it, they don't see the light until they're grown up and by then it causes light blindness.

Ok. Thanks. So basically, if you don't know the UD you get lost and go somewhere else. Like is implemented IG. Then I understand.
