NPC named Guard (southeast corner) gives out quest to find some silver neklace of his by going to troglodyte dungeon.

However I took the quest one day and when I logged on the next day, quest was gone from my journal. Yet guard talks to me as if I had quest still active. When I went through the whole troglodyte dungeon and talked to him again, nothing happened.

I've had friend with me, who took the quest just before we went for the dungeon, he has nothing in his journal now (he had quest before completing it), yet he received quest reward after going through the dungeon. He was told by Guard to do other quest that follows but he has nothing about it in his journal.
