Another thread on pvp had me thinking about maintaining accurate drow tactics. This has prompted the following questions.

1. The rules clearly state that "You must give the other party clear IC indication of your intentions to attack, and make sure they have reasonable time to react.." However, in Drow of the Underdark's drow tactics section it repeatedly emphasizes that drow "prefer lightning raids, ambushes, sabotage, and assassination to battlefield combat. In their eyes, the best battle is not merely one in which they were victorious, but in which the enemy never had a chance to strike back." The rules require allowing reasonable time to react, but the drow seem to be really fond of ambushes and ganks. What are some ways I can give clear IC indication without undermining the drow ambush and gank mentality?


2. Group assassination is another tactic mentioned in the book. Does someone have to have levels in the assassin class to perform an assassination?
A.Would each individual assassin in the group notify the target/dm?

3.Is the person who orders an assassination able to participate in the assassination, or does this invalidate the assassination rules and make it a murder?

1) If you set something up with a DM, you can effectively ignore the PvP rules on that sort of thing. The DM's can control things and provide feedback to the other players, so it makes raids more feasible. You still need to abide by some things, but a DM-run drow raid is much more flexible.

2) I don't think you need assassin levels to do an assassination. Also, if you involve a DM again you don't need to inform the player at all. The DM might, but if you want to do it right then, then the DM will oversee it without warning.

3) Not sure, but I'm sure they can have some sort of participation. Better for a DM to respond on this, though.
