Can you actually do it in game? No, then it's probably PnP. In which case the rules clearly state you require permission from a DM or all parties involved to use the spell/ability.
In this case, that means you should make sure everyone is okay with your raven being able to speak on language of your choice. But as it's not an in game ability, I'd say don't assume the raven can speak a language as a general rule.

Umm, are languages an IG ability? No, then why should you have to request that for your raven?

Well, nobody has actually ever said that it is a rule have specfic characters speak. I believe the only rule on language is that people speak english IG. Languages would be PnP, and kinda are PnP. But it's so ingrained into the server that it's an assumed function. If someone replies in a language, it's like an agreement that the language thing exists.
Also I believe some place set rules exist on languages on amia.

There are no set rules, otherwise it wouldn't keep coming up as an argument. There is an agreement with the languages, and I think it works very well. I just don't see the need to ask permission for something that should be able to understand a language o be able to do so.

True. However in this case it's rather that a creature who perhaps shouldn't be able to speak a language can. Not simply understand, but speak the language. Which is why I bring up that it may be considered PnP in the regard of a famailer speaking a language.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with it.

The only reason it's not an 'IG ability' is because it would be pointless to include it as a Feat for NWN, as it doesn't affect gameplay. The fact that you can type while possessing a familiar is all the ability I need, IMO.
