Dwarves, to elves, are a source of consternation. While both races have a lengthy lifespan, the dwarves spend their time in labor and toil, while the elves toil only when necessary and enjoy life to its fullest. The dwarven fixation for solid construction and straight lines offends the elven sensibility for growing, living, flowing lines and structures. Still, elves admire the dwarven drive to carve order out of chaos and their zeal in fighting goblinoids and giants. While they can become the closest of friends by embracing and countering each other's differences, elves and dwarves never quite understand the other

Actually you will find this surprisingly easy... I play one of a pair of half-orc brothers and while not openly hated Orcs for some reason are definately *not* huggled and cuddled...
In fact despite being played as chaotic neutral (not stupid) we did end up in disproportionately high amounts of PvP. My own thoughts on this are that its easier to hate Orcs because they are stupid, ugly smelly etc as opposed to the beautifully manicured and groomed drow/tiefling/cleric of evil despite the later being *just* as evil as regular Orcs. We have even had more negative reactions in Cordor than certain banites, Horsemen and muscle-bound tiefling/demon things... It really is odd.
Kobolds, goblins and there ilk are different again. The general feeling towards them is like a cute lil' pet that needs feeding and looking after, but rarely quite the same as other PC.
meh, what is getting old is the lesbian drow/teifling 'huggling' each other right next to the temple of waukeen and calling people 'meanies' for making any remark about getting rid of evil creatures.

Last time my character was told something like that did she have a gigglefit because everyone defended her, granted, she is sort of looking like a Drow with her skin and people pressed on that she should have a ring but safe for that did she really enjoy it all. Why? Because there are some people whpo mistrust her. She has the highest respect for them and does a lot of things so they will keep that opinion of her, she even goes so far as to help them in a certain way if she can.
To the topic:
We all should be more/less racist, whatever. If people want to play all huggly and cuddly let them, its their choice.
If not, also their choice, there are some good 'racist' characters and generally have these been the most fun to play with from my personal experience because there is some conflict with which you can work.

Isn't it much better than it was earlier? From what I have experienced, people tend to take the race and religion of their character into account for their RP much more than it used to be. That also includes the natural racial enemies.
PAH! There is no Universal Bill of Rights here, there is no rational and worker day settling of all disputes. Some 'disputes' in this place demand nothing less than destruction, that is the kind of thing one gets sick of seeing ignored.
Now I'm sure we can all choose to be nice to each other on some occasions but what happens when you get stabbed in the guts by you arch-enemy? "Ah crap, get Gavin the cleric from next door. Boy I'm sick of being stabbed, good old Gavin the Cleric though, no worries."
The point is that in a world where absolute rules of life and death are so common and the means through one can cure grievous injury, even death, with ease is readily available people of every ilk will be more likely to be openly racist and confrontational.
Those more often exposed to Disintegration and banishment to the Pit if they die may be a little more prudent, but the more common Amians (including lower level PCs) would be more prone to racism and so on.
Bring it on, give the place depth along all the social lines
