would it be okay if casting daze effectively made a paladin or cleric fallen for its duration regardless of lvl and sr, or if bardsong with 0 perform removed dev crit or GS?

All light does is turn an SD into a rogue for its duration, or until the SD uses Darkness.

And as far as stupid examples go, light is neither range nor area of effect, so where does bard song come into this?

Also the descriptor in Light is that it's a spell which ignores spell resistance.

well if darkness is supposed to cancel it, why does the -20 remain? doesn't seem fair if I wasted my time using darkness to begin with to cancel it out...all parts of it should be canceled out.

I agree with you, it should. Don't know if they can code that, but it should.

Edit: Maybe it does. Dunno, my SD has never been in that position.

since hiding with light glowing you up makes no sense in a real world....and while we are all about being realists and using realism...we mise well just say mages can't cast spells at all, since magic isn't real..you know

Straw man argument. Favored by Amians.

I'm trying to see where it fits in, especially since it appeared right after I agreed with him. I saw no mention of completely removing all stealth if one is hit by light.

the main part of why light affects sd's and hiding....because it makes no rp sense to be able to hide with a glow ball on your head. It was mentioned a couple of pages ago.

Ah, sorry, you should probably have quoted ... I immediately assumed it was in reference to the above post.
For some reason one can still hide whilst glowing. This is unfortunate, but it's true. An SD, however, is not allowed to HiPS whilst glowing. Whether an SD can hide normally whilst glowing is supposed to be the point of this discussion anyway methinks (going off the OP).

i dont believe there's a -20 penalty to hide when light is casted on the SDer/PC.

Would be lovely if that could be scripted in. =)

That and SDs can HiPs spam all they want. I too believe a skill (spot) shouldn't be negated/replaced.

My bad, it's ten.

Quote:
-10 DC at night if the target has a light on them.

That was from NWN wiki for Spot

They can't if they have light on them. Well, I'll amend that - they can't if they have light on them and don't want to break the rules.

just curious, is it even possible to modify the light spell, and give it a spell resist if hostel is set, and up the penalty?

Light isn't meant to have SR. It says so on pg. 248 of the 3.5 PHB

Theoretically, those shadows that only have to half-cover you, couldn't they cover that little joyball above your head? And even if not, we could just make something like Shadow Evade negate light... Makes sense to me.
