Where can one get some lore about L'obsul and the closest vicinity? Beside Amiawiki, Yao.

Most lore on it is not set beyond what dm deems it to be as Lobsul isnt actual place but amia made one even if its on mainland.

There are a few classes that use runes as a form of casting, though I can't recall them off the top of my head.
Draconic runes, Dwarven runes, and I think Elven runes are all said to exist and have certain powers in one shape or another. Some exist as part of the language, some as their own special symbols, IIRC. Sort of the Jewish YHWH or the peace symbol.
As best I can think, you're only going to find spells that reference "you draw a rune that blah blah blah". They are never really shown from what I can remember, and you're left to think of how they would actually look through fluff and whatnot.
The only rune-ish things I can recall specifically depicted in D&D in general are the marks of the Dragonmarked Houses of Eberron. Might want to look those up for inspiration.

Druidic Runes are few. Druids don't have a complex written language. Druidic is meant to be a language of verbal communication. Also, non-Druids rarely ever understand Druidic and on Amia you need DM permission to understand and speak Druidic as a non-Druid. Magic Runes are described in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. Yep, there are Draconic, Dwarven, Elven and even Hin runes. I don't know much about any of them, save the Hin ones. There are only a hand full of Hin runes still remembered by the people though. Example: Fyrdol (A dotted circle) It means "hidden door or way." There are others that are hard to describe without drawing, but I doubt you're looking for Hin runes anyway. And in case your wondering, no I've never seen Druidic runes drawn in a D&D book. The thing about Druidic is that each Druidic circle has it's own dialect and they make up their own words for certain things too. It doesn't translate so well from circle to circle. Well, it does and it doesn't. Think of it like a Portuguese person visiting Brazil. Sure, Brazil speaks Portuguese, but they speak -Brazilian- Portuguese. It's, in fact, very different from Portuguese Portuguese. They use a lot of Spanish words in their dialect and they have their own slang. There is a decent amount of confusion to be had.

Fairly sure no. It was said somewhere, not long ago, that Winya was only uncovered some 10 years ago from being lost foreverish, after something about a devil and the lifestone and.... I'll dig up the link >.> Edit: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=58450And someone beat me to it, as you can see below...

Quote: Quote: 1369 DR, Year of the Gauntlet
Millenial wards around Winya Ravana fail and the ancient town with its Lifestone reappears atop the Nexus. A group of adventurers fight and defeat the devil who covets the power of the Lifestone. The city secured, most elves on Amia move in to bring it to life again. Settlers also come from Evermeet and Faerûn.
...Eleven years ago. Therefore it is really impossible to have "Started" in Winya Ravana, from a lore perspective on the server.

Copious amounts of vodka, or a bullet to the brain.
Really though, just... retcon. Only way about it. It's a huge pain and it sucks but once it's over with it's not so bad. Anyone you've told IG has probably forgotten by now, and if not just throw them a tell over it. Messy but best workaround.

In that case I would doubly suggest you try getting involved there IG. In order to write a fully informative article and all that! Information would probably be more reliable than hearsay and all.
But yeah, DMs, or players who have been around there long enough? Not sure who they would be though, have to hope this catches notice.

That would make it pretty much pointless for anyone except a druid to want or need to know it anyway, due to it's entirely limited application. I'm not sure why I know that, or where I read it, or who told me. Maybe it was all just a dream....

well actually druidic is quite conversational but the dictionary is focused on the nature. discussing engeniering or architecture or modern medicine in druidic should not be done, as druidic doesnt have the terms for such. Quote: "A druid also knows Druidic, a secret language known only to druids, which she learns upon becoming a 1st-level druid. Druidic is a free language for a druid; that is, she knows it in addition to her regular allotment of languages and it doesn’t take up a language slot. Druids are forbidden to teach this language to nondruids. Druidic has its own alphabet.

I've always found the notion of a secret druidic language to be profoundly silly, to be honest. To say that no non-druid can ever understand Druidic is to say that in the history of time, no druid has ever:
1.) gotten pissed off at their circle and taught the language to others just to tweak them; 2.) taught it to their non-druid kids; 3.) been fallen for some reason, and subsequently not cared enough about druid rules to obey them; 4.) written something down in Druidic, which then fell into the hands of someone with a Comprehend Languages spell;
... and on and on and on. "Secret languages" are just dumb.

Gobo, nothing about that quote suggests it's a conversational language, and it doesn't say anything about the dictionary. The flavor certainly seems to be that of a ritualistic and archaic language. There's too little information to say anything definite, though.
Lizzie, I don't think "only druids know this language" should be taken quite literally. Sure, there may have been individuals who've managed to gain the knowledge in Faerûn's history. But because it's so unusual and there is no living tradition/preserved lore of the language outside druidic circles, it might as well be impossible. I read it as a game rule first and foremost: this language is not an available bonus language for PCs, don't bother arguing with your DM that you should know it.

I disagree and the books actually suggest differently. Druidic is used for rituals, prayers and, yes, conversation too. It's specialized for talks about the natural world and protector related things though. You can say something like, "The wolf pack took down a stag to the south" in one or two words in Druidic. Quote: Not only can druids use the secret language to provide passwords, they can speak this private tongue when they wish to baffle nondruidic eavesdroppers. It is a precise tool for discussing Nature. Quote: The secret language has a specialized and detailed vocabulary limited to dealing with Nature and natural events; beyond this sphere, it is very basic. A druid could use the secret language to talk about the health of a person, animal, or plant; discuss the weather; or give detailed directions through the wilderness. The language also cap describe druidic spells, ceremonies, powers, and any natural and supernatural creatures known to the druids. However, it contains no words for sophisticated human emotions, for most tools or artifacts (beyond those used for hunting, farming, or fishing), or for weapons and armor (other than items Druids use). However, even though at the root, the language is as stated, each circle can develop it's own slang and dialect which can add new terms that will describe things of importance for that given circle. Quote: The secret language helps bind the worldwide druidic order together. Druids from different circles or branches all speak the same secret language. However, they may have developed their own regional accents or dialects. Still, it is a simple language beyond talks about nature and things pertaining to Druidic culture. This is what makes it believable for me, that it's understandability is so difficult for outsiders. Yes, some people who aren't Druids have succeeded at learning Druidic, but it's rare. And a Druid who teaches non-Druids Druidic would fall from grace. Even if that non-Druid is a Cleric or Ranger of their God. Druidic is for Druids is the mindset, and apparently the Gods agree. Also, the reason I said that Druidic can only be known by Druids on Amia unless you have permission from the DM's is because I've known that to be the way it works for a long time. The only non-Druids I knew who knew Druidic had DM permission. The quotes are taken from The Complete Druid's Handbook.

Don't mean to interrupt, but what's the history of non-avariel elves worshiping Aerdrie? Do elves do that? Would she care at all for such worshipers?

I'd say she would. It's written that even non-elves worship her and she responds (avian peoples though). So yeah, I would think she wouldn't ignore normal Elves. I think it's pretty safe to say she loves Winged Elves above all other people, kinda like how Deep Sashelas loves Sea Elves first, even though other peoples of the oceans worship him and he answers them too.

That's generally what I figured. In looking at the Seldarine, there don't seem to be many travel deities besides Aerdrie, at least ones that aren't tricky, angry, or druidy. Maybe someone would be more suited?

Lebelas is the god of time to the elves and also supports travel if you really want your haste... he is by far one of the more interesting gods that is neglected by most players saddly

What are you after? Just travel in general? If you're just talking traveling the wilds and stuff, Solonor Thelandira is your gal God (Yes, I know it's male God, but let's be honest, he looks like a girl >:) ).

Aye I'm after travelers deities, not the travel domain, as it's non-cleric.
Solonor just seems too serious and.... hunter-y for me. However, Labelas might be just right! I always forget about him!
Thanks to both of you for very helpful posts!

Definitely about survival and hunt, aye. But he actually always struck me as a little more layed back than the other nature gods of the Seladrine. Fenmarel is a total grouch, Rillifane is very Druid oriented and pretty serious himself. Solonor always felt a little less serious to me. Maybe it's just me though. ::shrugs::
Ironically, I always felt Labelas is a very very serious god. And definitely underplayed, aye.

Eh... not really, no. But you have to remember also that Corellon represents all things Elf, so in a sense, he does. Not "on paper," per say, but he does.
Edit: Oh, alternatively, you can also do Angharradh. She's a little bit of Aerdrie Faenya, a little bit of Sehanine Moonbow and a little bit of Hanali Celanil.
Hanali is a goddess of love and beauty and then of course you know Aerdrie.

That's been what I've gone with up to now, but Corellon just seems like such a default deity. *prepares to get smited* I suppose there are always non-Seldarine deities.
Thanks yet again for aid.

Erevan Ilesere would work... if you just want to play a wandering elf your god doesn't really matter at all because all young elves go through wanderlust when they are younger.

He's just a big prankster. I wouldn't call him malicious though. He's all about having a good time.
And in case you missed my edit above, you might like Angharradh.
She's a bit of Aerdrie Faenya, Sehanine Moonbow and Hanali Celanil.

Good luck. And remember, as a Moon Elf, don't be shy about worshiping non-Seldarine Gods along with your Seldarine Gods. It'll make those silly Sun Elves mad! It's great!

Day Dreaming wrote: Don't mean to interrupt, but what's the history of non-avariel elves worshiping Aerdrie? Do elves do that? Would she care at all for such worshipers? Not that it really matters now, but there's far more non-avariel elves worshipping Aerdrie than there are actual avariel. Largely due to the small numbers of avariel that exist now, of course.

Nobody else have info on L'obsul?
I can be more specific - Like it's creation? How did the duergars get there? Why? Who did they act on behalf on? How did the kobolds end up there so close to the gnomes? And Same question about the gnomes? Where does the Drow house fit into all of this? A drow house inside a mining complex?

Suney stole my thunder a bit, there. It's helpful (for me, at least) not to think of Aerdrie as the god of the Avariel first and then all that peripheral sky-related stuff second. Rather, she's the elven god of the sky, of weather and freedom and change, and because the Avariel love those things too, they've embraced her as their matron. So yes, Aerdrie has a non-trivial number of landbound worshippers, too... druids who honor her as the mother of rain, warriors who ride airborne steeds (not really relevant in NWN, unfortunately), people who call on her to aid them in fighting oppression and slavery and such. Also, she's sexing Shaundakul, who is super cool.

Mulan Society question directed to tormak and mosh most likely... ive done my homework so I understand that its broken into classes Nobility then Middle class... then slaves... hair is a mark of a slave if I am right even for females... and is there a sex division within the culture?

I can't answer for Mulhorand, but in Thay, it;'s not so much that hair is the mark of a slave, as baldness is the mark of nobility, and so people try to emulate it.
As for a sex division, the major one I know of in Mulhorand is priesthoods. Male deities only have male clerics, and female deities only have female clerics.
