Out of curiousity, iff the Katana is so disliked for not fitting in to the world, why bother having it in the module to begin with? Either have something in and support it fully or just cut it.

Thats like smashing your hand off to get rid off a hangnail. Its in the original game, and there's no reason to not support something that's a base item in the game.

Nothing wrong with the base katanas in appearance, whereas a lot of other weapons needed realistic looking options/updates to look better.

Probably the most ready example of weapons needing a visual update were rapiers. The existing models for that type of weapon were just.. wrong wrong wrong.

Plus what Disco said about extra effort.

Correction: the ones that really needed an update were flails and morningstars. I added a flail that's actually a ball on a chain and a morningstar that's a big mace with spikes.

Image
This is a flail, but in NWN it's called a morningstar.

Image
And this is a morningstar... which NWN doesn't really have.

I would like better chest pieces for full plate and bikinis (the one bab drops is an ugly chest piece)

:)

That wouldn't be sensible. We don't have to invest anything in the current selection of katanas. It would take effort to get rid of them. That doesn't mean you have to actively expand their selection, especially if you have to make choices to keep your hak size down.

There are some good, small file sized ones that I used back when I was messing around with modules. Of course, weapons in general aren't such an important thing compared to clothes, anyway.

Clothing I can understand (and even then, the only limitation on that is module-wise), but I don't think there's any particular problem with footwear (like waraji, etc). WYSIWYG for spell effects, also, I can understand - If you're going to try and expand that to characters, though, 50% of Amian males look exactly the same. (I might be misunderstanding the context of this quote, though, as I can't seem to find it in the Topic review.)

Got to be careful with adding weapons which differ too much from the original anyway... visual effects don't morph with the weapon itself, resulting in stuff like this.

It's a scythe crafted to look like a sword-thing, but the visual still shapes like the edge of the scythe. Even adding a sword with a longer or shorter edge will end up looking funny like that.

Uhm, if that's what the sword thing is, then those are in CEP yep. CEP has all kinds of asian weapons, like nunchucks, punching daggers, sai, stick swords, firewheels, reverse grip daggers... though most of the laters don't have working feats for them, in addition to the visual effects not applying properly.

Please god tell me theres an actual Velsharoon Diety Cloak in the HAK! And also, is there no chest peice to go with the robe model which looks basically like a bottem part of a Dress? for plate armour anyhow, would make funtimes for me playing a Robed Armoured guy, instead for now i can just stick with the sleeveless wizard robe which looks nice enough, just wondering however :D

This one time when I was little I was at this kid's birthday party and his mom got him a cabbage patch kid and he wanted a boy cabbage patch with brown hair and she could only find one with blond hair and she stood out in the cold ALL DAY to get this cabbage patch kid and spent lots and lots of money on it and when he opened the present he cried and threw it at her.

Nice discussion and all. Personally I feel there aren't near enough medieval correct weapons and armour in it but the main thing.

Is any amount of bitching here going to result in changed to the HAK or is this discussion just pointless on that part. If its pointless do tell then I can stop reading this. Just curious.

I guess so. You should take a good look at the human heads/torsos, there's a lot of undead stuff in there now. Body parts 200+.

Well, it is pointless to complain about the weapons as they aren't even available yet. Armour... well, I did have a look around again yesterday, and I am afraid that I found exactly one chest piece that made me go like "O, it has all sexes, all races, all phenotypes, and it doesn't look like soft-porn and it doesn't look like some monster took a crap on your pc and it doesn't look a few centuries out of place". One. I guess I'll add that one day.

Bit different. Cloaks that have no diety symbols are a little more universally useable then cloaks that do have diety symbols on them. I know personally I won't be using many of the deity ones for characters I have that don't worship any particular god, because being confused as a worshipper of a particular god can equal possible death quite fast, even if you don't mean it to be that case.

WYSIWYG after all, intended or not.

Pshk, Real Velsharan use Magic and Death Domains, Evil is one of them but its not worth it if you intend to RP A proper Necrophant/mancer and also, i forbid nerfing the Death Domain summon! Necromancy is supposed to be best achieved through Divine, and if Arcane Necromancers with winterwights can beat divine users in a pet fight that makes no sense :( if anything you should buff the Death Domain summon >=] and the normal skin for the Death Domain is ugly... very ugly.. which is why anyone with a care for its summon will spend 10DC's on getting a reskin!

I'd trade a ridiculous amount of swayage for purties, but that's just me... I know it's not up for discussion, so just a personal observation, lol. You're right though, I should put the word "ridiculous" there in bold
