im not talking out of bad blood, i just dont want to have my main for almost all my years of amia be taken from me because some people dislike her. cause there are people who love my char, which means it does provide good rp for the server, banning children characters would be like banning banites because everyone hates them.

Firstly, in response to this I would like to indicate that Amia is hardly a realistic server. You have cuddly goblins running about with paladins. You have friendly drow running around cities, not roleplaying the fact that any sensible NPC would be cowering away from them in fear, not to mention that these same drow don't bother to accurately roleplay the well known fact that drow are significantly weakened by sunlight.
Furthermore, in a realistic DnD game even the majority of adult players would be lucky to reach level 8 since death is quite relevant in hardcore DnD whereas it has veyr little meaning in Amia. The fact that most players on Amia are (or have) level 30 characters is quite unrealistic in itself. So if you want a realistic server you might look elsewhere.
That being said, I also agree with Guns N Roses point that there is nothing in the rule book to say that players cannot create children characters and level them up to epic status.
And if you wish to suggest that children PC should be level capped at 3, then I would like to suggest that drow who are outside during daylight are significantly level drained to at least a quarter of their maximum power as well.

I think it's a different scenario, myself, based on some standard of appropriateness. But I'm not here to force what I think on people. Not my place to, and further, it's not my call. If you read my post, I realize that child characters will not be banned, so I'm more supportive of a standard for them, or DM approval to play said child, so everyone can be happy... er. Happier. Ish. Well, I hope that's what would happen. My stance is that there should be no epic child characters, at the very least.

requesting for an epic child comes off to me as people should request to play an epic character in the first place, or an epic kobold, or drow, being shadow elf and fairies have to be requested for. id rather not the request due to bias and what certain people consider -good- rp like im being rated by a bunch of hateful movie critiques telling me i suck.

Again, I have a certain standard of appropriateness that I hold, and that is why I think that it's an entirely different scenario from playing an adult epic character of any race, or requesting another platinum race. At some point, I think someone is going to have to apply a standard for what is appropriate-- though I know it will not likely be mine-- and tell people, at some point, that there is a proper and improper way to RP a certain thing. Again, not meaning to snipe at anyone. It is not my intention, or my place. There is a standard in place for other Platinum Races to, I think, guide people into creating good backgrounds and viable personalities that reflect what is appropriate. I would like to see it extended, but then again, it is just my opinion.

We impose restrictions on characters all the time, mainly because many of them are played so wrong or because the quantity of them affects the atmosphere negatively. The whole reason there are even platinum characters is because people played half devil half celestials in the past, and we rated that rp as bad, and hence imposed are set of rules to limit such things to make this server move in a more "realistic" direction.
Gexx, I can not say if your child character is played bad or not, I have never to my knowledge rped with her, not heard much about her and do not know your background story. Just like how pre-platinum coin requested characters could be continued to be played, so could yours. It wont be taken from you. The question is simply if we as a server wish to limit roleplay of child characters certain people see as ruining atmosphere.
The list of requestable things being devils, celestials, yuan-ti, etc and child characters seems a bit odd to me, personally, but I would be for it as I did encounter many who were played badly. I for one did so when I started (devil child) and guidance would have helped me enormously. I wish also to note that it is not a one sided blade where we only affect child characters, they affect us. Stating you can do what you want (as one or few people) is as egocentric as saying do what we want (with a minority).

Seems a double standard to me. People can progress through thirty levels of power in less than a year--that's from age 15, to age 16--but an age 14 character with more than three levels is considered ridiculous?
Mind you, the majority of child PC roleplay I've seen is, quite frankly, crap. All of these scenarios took place on other servers though, so I've no stance on what happens in Amia. I simply don't disagree that it's very difficult to play a child character well.
I do disagree on the arbitrary limits being set. You can't restrict child PCs and let still relatively young characters gain levels that fast, and keep your integrity. It just doesn't make sense.

sry if im a nub at using forum but...
@ Phearnun - Copy/Paste: id rather not the request due to bias and what certain people consider -good- rp like im being rated by a bunch of hateful movie critiques telling me i suck.
On top of this im pretty sure an epic child char would -never- get approved being to my knowledge the dm team isnt very fond of them at all.

I think another thing to consider is if the child character is, eventually, going to grow up into an adult. Some PCs do make the transition from child PC, to teen PC, to adult PC. The children from Bobo's event will, if they survive. Other PCs have, as well. I approve of this growth of a character, personally. I went through it myself, and I will go through it again with my PC in Bobo's event. It's enriching, and I'm definitely looking forward to doing it again.

@ Phearnun - id rather see an epic child than an epic whatever you just described, its much easier to make sense of, see logicality's post if you will for my char isnt 6 or 9, shes 12, quite close to maturity.
@ burningoutbright - Ive seen plenty of people stay at sweet and sexy 18 for years on in, if i went by amias standard aging process all my chars would be 72 or around there is where i totaled it up at, which imo is stupid because its a persistent roleplay world, not everyone create an elf so you have time to enjoy your char before they die...
Edit: Heres what Logicality posted, i copy/pasted: Seems a double standard to me. People can progress through thirty levels of power in less than a year--that's from age 15, to age 16--but an age 14 character with more than three levels is considered ridiculous?

Aging is entirely your own thing, really. Amia doesn't have a set clock. I think the whole thing is "speed of the plot" but it doesn't say whose plot. Your characters, a DM's, or whatever.

Beaing a dead horse. I won't bother stating my opinion because everyone knows it by now and everyone knows everyone else's.
The DM team's stance is that we do not like child PCs, but we will not put official regulations on them because anything outside of a blanket ban simply gives foundation to people playing more of them since we make room for them in the setting via specific rules. We do not ban them but we do not like them being above level 2/3, at all.
