They may be free to enter but when they enter to heckle, bother, threaten, and berate, I think even redweth's patience wears thin.

Things in Khem are very different however, and there, an "enemy of the faith" may certainly want to contact a DM before entering. That is a very holy site, invested with ages of import. TormakSaber wrote: They may be free to enter but when they enter to heckle, bother, threaten, and berate, I think even redweth's patience wears thin. Thanks for all the comments about Xavi and the ToL - it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. But you're acknowledging that the ToL is a special case. In general, what you seem to be saying is that it depends on the situation, or at least the area in question - the holier the area, the more likely that DM oversight may be required and/or that some PC cleric/paladin/CoT may have the authority to say 'GTFO' to the necro whose ghoul servant is busy sketching the plans of the building. I know that if I were a member of most good religions, I wouldn't want to see that. Similarly, if I were a necro-cleric I wouldn't be comfortable seeing a bunch of paladins posing for paintings beside my idol of Velsharoon. Even in a not-so-sacred area, really off-the-wall behaviour should be legitimate grounds for some sort of IC response - combat, defiling the premises, doing things that are directly contrary to the dogma of the deity, insulting the clergy, etc. That's just my opinion, however, and I guess what it boils down to is that you can make all the rules and statements you want about who can and can't enter an area, but if there's a dispute call a DM. Or at least that's what I'm getting from this.

Alright, DMs clarified us good what is alright and what is not. And thank you for that. One more thing is needed before this topic is complete. Since it was specifically opened for Lathanderites, the question is, weather PCs who use the area aka Dawnguards and followers of Tymora have the right to throw out people they consider enemies of the Faith, if they have simply entered the Chapel and did nothing? No scatching, no planting explosives, no blasphemy, no provokations, just standing there and doing nothing.

If your character would do that. Yes. If your character would be more accepting of people loitering, that is also up to your character. It's ALL up to YOUR character how THEY tolerate OTHERS.

I think the number one question has to be asked.
"How do you know them?"
Unless the character entering the temple is dressed in a way that makes them clearly visible or suspect, you can't really go and kick them out. Admittingly you can ask them to remove their helm/hood and them boot them out, but unless you have reason beyond that little floating name above their characters head, which is ooc information, you don't have any reason.

I was assuming people of a devout nature would bear their symbols - or at least affiliate themselves with the colors of their Deity. If you don't, then you're working spec-op, which would depend on the Deity you're serving and also the nature of your PC.

I could've sworn Lathandarite priests had the ability to sense undeath and people who strongly affiliate with the undead. And atleast in the Rage of the Dragons books I remember when they first meet Brimstone (Vampiric smoke drake) the groups Lathy priest wanted to smite him because of a loathing of all undead. So correct me if Im wrong but doesn't that sound like any necromancer or undead within the temple would be attacked? Maybe not by Lathandars avatar but by any clergy in the vincinity?

Detect undead only detects the aura of undead creatures or the locations they have been in. Not the people they have been near. If it did, Certain paladins would read with an undead aura as well.
Also such detection stuff is generally dnd and would need the player's concent too.. Plus there are a number of spells to hide from such things, including undetectable alignment, nondetection, etc etc etc..

They also require explanation of what they do so all parties involved understand what is being used.

Another low level cleric spell works good to, Detect evil (Cleric level 1)(also note there is a detect good, chaos, law) However the down side to that is anyone expecting that spell will just have Non-detection prepared for themselves and allies (ranger 4, bard 4, Wiz/Sorc 4 Trickery domain 3).
If not though its not unreasonable for anyone who is good to distrust someone who is detected as evil and want them ejected or at least watched by an armed guard at their grounds on that basis alone.

That is correct, but it is still wrong by the law of the city. And very unlikely that anyone would be thrown out from the temple of Lathander. Refer to: Quote: "a sign of the Morninglord's capacity to forgive and to be the shepherd to the lost and struggling soul; the defiler may come to a civic holy site with the intent to abscond with the symbolic regalia of our faith or to hurl vile curses at our bearers of the light, but every moment the defiler spends within the Chapel is an opportunity for the holy and undiminishable light of Lathander to reach out and quench the thirst in his soul, the very thirst that led him to drink from the black waters of ignorant or evil powers. This light may come from the defiler's sudden revelation granted by his view of the architecture of the site; it may come through the words of the faithful, who show him mercy, or who show him the strength of the Morninglord if his actions turn towards violence; it may come from the Morninglord Himself, taking particular interest in the life of a mortal and reaching down to instill within this dark wanderer the ineffable lightness of being in His presence. Lathander works not only through us, but through the social architecture we build in His name, and through His own hand..."

I'd not ask what the guards would do about some no-rights necromancer scumbag harassing a good, upstanding holy man of the city. Not unless you like being dragged out by your ears, I guess.
