Forget new classes, just give me custom flavor feats for already existing classes, leading to more diverse PC's.

Like something called "Hellspawn" as a selectable feat for Sorcs representing fire-lineage, and they get may special bonuses to Fire-based spells and/or "Trained Tactician" which comes in as a optional Fighter Bonus feat where they can make Firebombs/Acidbombs, etc and give skill bonuses to party members when present.

Actually, I'm gonna get on cooking some up some suggestions. Requirements and all.

Just improve whats already there and fix the glaring broken/OP'ed stuff first. Fuller casting for BGs and Assassins would be something i'd like to see for example.

I'm not a fan of new classes. I'm a fan of giving more options to existing classes.

Yes! Exactly! Improve on the classes that we already have by making the prestige classes or class variants from the players handbook 2. If totem barbarians became an option I would love to play bear totem or dragon totem.

Well, by giving more options to existing classes, we are able to kinda incorporate other "classes" without actually putting them in the game.

Say for instance a Rogue Bonus feat which gives you a Spellbook and a modest selection of spells, this making a the Rogue that chooses it into something flavored like an Arcane Trickster. Or a ranger bonus feat that allows you to become more like a Duelist.

As well, we could incorporate stuff into an already existing class's progression that flavors it automatically. Say for example Monk. Say if we set the game to see that your Dex if higher than your Wis, instead of giving you Still Mind(+2 Will), it gives you Lightning Reflexes(+2 Reflex). Sort of sensing where your character is headed and developing you subtly in that direction, regardless of what else you take.

Stuff like that, while it still must be looked at for balance and viability, I'd bet it requires less work and less balancing stipulations than creating a whole new class altogether. At a lot more fun, IMO. Thus, why I am guffawing like a madman just writing these things up...

Terrible idea.

I don't know why you guys are throwing all this stuff out, we pretty much explicitly said what we're already doing. We're not taking suggestions for new classes.

I thought this was just a "wishful thinking" thread. Not suggestions too be taken seriously by the dm team.

Well why leave us in the dark?....can we get an idea what class is coming...we already know that it's harper scout biting the dust...and I think purple dragon knight.

And if you do do away with these classes what will happen to the people who have them already?

I don't think they're doing away with them. Probably just updating/upgrading, to encourage their use, similar what happened to shifters.
I got the vibe that they may be doing a name change too, to make them less specific (Ala Removing the Red from RDD), because both of the classes have some specific conotations (Harper faction and Cormyr respectively).

Interested to see what is going to happen with them, so it looks like I'll have to start using my PDK again. :P

From the gist of hints given before: I think the change will be to change the specific classes ergo:

RDD becomes DD
And COT becomes Divine Champion or such.

Don't fill your breeches yet with wet dreams of new classes. If they happen to arise, just be happy and surprised.

Aren't they always, Tormak?

I wasn't actually suggesting we do that particular example, BTW. Just an example so people could get the jist of what I was saying.

PnP SHIFTERS!!!
*giggles manically and runs off into the nearest bunker*

(On a more feasible note, a SELECTIVE implementation of the PRC pack would be really nice. Some stuff there works; despite the glaring balance issues, I actually really liked the Shifter class.)

I always thought that Archmage was a pretty sexy prestige class that catered to casters AND makes for good RP imho.

I would be interested in playing a shifter if they all didn't have the same forms.

Do you have any idea how much of a nightmare it would be to create dozens more forms just so you can have 'random forms'?

This. Try playing the PRC Shifters, Svensk and Murex. Basically lets you take on the form of any non-NPC you meet. Plenty of variation, but certain things are horribly imbalanced, with worryingly high DR etc.
I have heard of some older server - not up anymore - with a good system; plenty of new forms that actually worked. I don't see this ever happening here.
Some sort of skin-changer would be nice, though... Why does every form have to be inherently evil? D:

CoT has always been champion of <insert god here> its just before it had to be rp'd because the devs at the time (Brett) were to lazy to fix it had the tools to fix it.

Ideally you should get Smite Infidel instead of smite evil. Which would let you smite anyone who is of the opposing alignment your god represents. (I think).

I'm not saying this should happen, but I am curious as to weather or not it would be possible in amia. And yes this is inspired by digging through too many books plowing against my pnp group. Lol

My quandary is this: amia has classes of spell casters like clerics, sorcerers, and wizards, as well as classes that are not wholly spellcaster but have use of magic anyhow like bards, arcane archers, and warrior built palemasters. Would it be possible to give a limited spell list to another class that does not normally get magics?

The idea I had was to make a tattooed monk from the Oriental adventures book. Each tattoo can be activated so many times a day to produce specific spells or spell like qualities. The tattooed monk can't get too many tattooed, nor can they change a tattoo once gained. This would limit their power considerably in my opinion. I don't know much about the game mechanics, next to nothing in fact. But if it were possible, could someone get it as a special dm permission thing? They would have to reach an appropriate level of monk to qualify to get specific tattoos, then they have to ask a dm for that tattoo widget.... like the barbarians rages widget.

If you mean the 3e Oriental Adventures, do note that they are in no way associated with Faerun. Then again with there being no sources about Kara-Tur since like AD&D I think, it might be workable. Though mechanically I'm not seeing it happen without heavy class modification which might be overkill for a single DC request. I might be wrong though.

We already allowed a Warlock (though he has a lot of restrictions to follow, he isn't simply a sorcerer with added Warlock benefits), so yes, it would be possible. With DCs, and some rules to follow.
