You'd be correct in assuming that blood type isn't something that just about any PC or 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of NPCs should know. However there is a very specific group of NPCs that does delve into stuff like that...
I'm not giving any spoilers though!
im just curius as to how with the scientific advancements in faerun a person could learn something that requires a electron microscope to the do base research for, i get you can know that some blood is different than other, and the two dosnt mix, that has been largely known since the late middleages, or atleast that blood transfusions was problematic, but from there to knowing what bloods that does mix is a huuuge leap in scientific development, i get that it seems like a simple thing to most people, hells you can buy kits for a few bucks that determines you blood type, but the research that got us there is extremely advanced.
Just how much can we just say "Magic showed me" and then move on? would it be okey for me to know the structure of the atom, partical physics, I guess what im saying is, what is the limit, cause the implications of adding modern medical advances opens up for things far more extreme and much more gamechanging, especially if the arguement becomes "well...you allowed blood types, why cant i invent mustard gas, it was invented rl way before the discovery of blood types" it might be a extreme example, but I do feel it is a problem for the setting, and while we should not hamper rp we should also avoid going beyond the setting. work within the setting.
