I have to say that I do think a number of elf players having done great work in this regards. Being, icly, racists and bigots towards most other races. At least in my opinion that is. It is the reason that has made elfs most disliked in many circles in Amia, but I do think it is great. In my eyes the most problematic is that when a character reacts realistically for their race towards monsterous races. Something I've seen elfs do great number of times, a number of other react very differently and see this action as racism and calling it out. Or using word "specicism". To me this is silly, it ia not the world of 2014 in Earth... but world of fantasy where it is totally normal. I've even seen OOC complaints of this, when it in truth is all about IC and lore that elfs have. They react because they know that based on lore they would.

Terra_777 wrote: Very good! This is what you say first then the rest of your post you talk against what you just said. Because for all we know the kobolds in the cave is attacking you because you're waltzing around in their home in the same manner that the kobold in your example is waltzing around in Bendir Dale. The wrong part happens when people start acting differently without any IC premise just because they know that the kobold in Bendir has a PC behind it, not because he isnt acting hostile at the moment.
Spawn a hostile kobold under the tree in Bendir and remove the AI so he doesnt do anything and see how long it takes before someone kills him. Either way its close to impossible to RP a character who is truly is judgemental towards other races or even straight up evil as hell because of the disney-holding-hands-everyone-is-happy-hero-wins OOC mentality leaking IC. There should be a crack down on it in my opinion but I do know its harder then it looks because it is an online fantasy game afterall. Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. You can think it's wrong to role-play with PC's differently than NPC's that have no DM playing them at the time. I on the other hand disagree. When a human player is playing a game, they deserve more respect (in the way of devoting time to listening to them, understanding them, and coming up with a respectful response to their role-play) than an NPC orc with the words "Mindsucker the Carrot" floating above his head does. If I see Mindsucker the Carrot, I will probably not attempt to roleplay with him at all. I will probably kill him, then have my character marvel at the strangeness of that particular orc, and move on to the next npc. Now, if I see an Orc PC named "Mindsucker the Carrot," I am going to play out the scenario very differently. I will almost certainly try to role-play with him, especially if they approach me. I will devote time and energy in listening to them, and coming up with a respectful role-play response to their role-play. I am not going to impose my behavior on anyone else, but it's just my opinion that behavior towards PC's of any type should be drastically different than towards an NPC with no human control.

I don't agree with this, you never know when a DM has possession of a NPC. And not only for that reason, but because NPC's are people too, some are commoners, and some can lay the smack down on you. Characters are characters, whether there's a Player or a DM behind them, or no one (at the moment). Your character would not know the difference between a PC or a NPC, to your character, there should be no difference. The same should go for you, the Player.

But... We as players do, and NPCs usually can do things, or make things happen, that players can not. This means that players will jump on the chance to interact with the NPC. Same thing goes with a monster PC controlled by a player, they are not -just- another NPC to be slaughtered, and deserve RP even if its conflict.

A few years ago, I started to look at this topic with a fresh perspective: the greatest monsters on Amia are the ones hidden in plain sight.
Hopefully it might work for you guys.

I currently play a character that would be considered a monstrous race. He is a Ogrillion Barbarian, named Hork. Most settlements allow him within the walls. But some settlements such as Brog does not. Dwarfs naturally dislike monstrous creatures so I understand it. Uhm and Howness allow him in the gates, but they Role play wise dislikes him. Because those two settlements are big racist settlements. It's not fun to be hated automatically. But in my personnel option when a group dislikes you. It makes the roleplay that much more fun. Many characters accept him, that live in a Racist settlement. I don't think the NPCs reaction towards my Ogrillion should change. Not every NPC, and Every PC likes the same things. NPCs and PCs are the same things just not playable by characters.
