TormakSaber, Gravemaskin: thank you, I love playing mages but I never had chance to learn about FR specifics (outside of NWN spells description). And only books from DnD that I found in nationwide shops were translations of basic DnD player guides. Nothing like this. And I prefer to know that I am not buying something useless from eBay or such

How do you roleplay being a master scout? Classes like ranger, rogue, bard and paladin are recognised largely icly as what they do, though are the smaller, lesser classes that people take openly roleplayed in the same way? Can I say I am a master scout? The class itself is a replacement of the harper and so unique to this world... but is it an ic recognised calling?
From my characters point of view those skills the extra class affords could well be just an extension of being a ranger and I know others use the class to emulate being from a wilderness back group. Is the class like the harper and more a calling that you are taken into or is it more like the arcane archer and something passed from one to another and learnt?

I would say that there is no need to play out MS, but generally add it to your character general idea. I asked about few MS questions in here, it might help (or not). I wanted originally to use it in combination with Barbarian to just create well rounded warrior, who learnt bits of alchemy to help him on his travels. And my intention was to go into "Witcher" direction.

Personally I see it more as a set of skills, you mentioned the rogue, but the rogue class can have a lot of interpretations, from thief to spy to swashbuckler to someone who fights dirty, the field is pretty wide and doesn't necessarily have to be used as a name of the "profession" in my opinion, especially since there are a lot of ways one can get to many of them. I'd argue that it works similarly for the Master Scout, its a set of abilities with the interpretation mostly left to the player.

What is the deal with necromancy?
It seems to me, that mostly only banned part of it is creating/summoning undead. Offensive spells like Finger of Death or Wail of Banshee are tolerated. Am I right? If I am right... is it something that would be okay for non-evil character to use? Even good one?

If I am right... is it something that would be okay for non-evil character to use? Even good one? There is nothing lorewise that'd prevent a nonevil character from using nonevil necromantic spells, save for individual morality questions or a deity's stance on it, but I'll come back to that later. I'm pretty sure every last one that creates undead has an evil descriptor to it, and thus is inherently evil aligned. However: No necromantic spell is inherently evil unless it's actually got a descriptor that say so, meaning instant death spells aren't evil as long as they don't actually have a descriptor that say so. MECHANICALLY The descriptors determine what a spell actually is, though as I said it's not always reflected ICly accurately and people can think or act however they wish around any magic. What people THINK is evil and how people ACT around spells like that though, are naturally completely independent of this fact and any character can easily think wail of the banshee is an evil spell if they want to, and I'm fairly certain some do. Many could easily argue it's more "humane" to instantly kill someone with a spell like that than repeatedly burning their flesh with a fireball until dead or a lightning based spell etc etc, and also have reasons against it by saying it's evil for X reason or not evil for Y reason, how it's perceived and how it actually is are two widely different things. However that side of things ultimately comes down to IC morality and stances on it and doesn't have to be true or not according to lore given that it's an opinion and/or popular view. But lorewise, newp it's spells are no more or less evil than other spells (unless they got the evil descriptor, same as no spell is inherently good without the good descriptor, or mind affecting or fire based etc etc.)

There are a lot of necrotic spells that don't summon the undead. A good example of this is Soul Bind. In our setting, removing, destroying or trapping the very soul of a living, sentient being is considered one of the highest taboos in society. And you could also use a spell like contagion to spread a plague, as another example. The link I posted is filtered to only include spells relevant directly to our setting, mind you. Though I've used spells from other settings after being OK'd by a DM.

Richard: I am mostly worried about the normal game mechanics. These PnP spells like Soul Bind have good description so that one can deduce, if it is truly evil or not. Thank you Gravemaskin: yeah, the problem of quick death vs slow non necromantic death. Thank you, it helped.

From here. Scroll down, I have no idea how to make it give you the exact post. TormakSaber, edited to relevance wrote: It functions per PnP, with these Amia specific additions that will be added to the list:
Assassins' Alter Self - one "Alter Ego" is un-pierceable by True Sight. This must be maintained and cannot be changed at awhim. So, do Assassins get this "for free"? That sounds weird, so let me explain: Assassins get to cast Alter Self in PnP. (I'm assuming that, if not, sorry) Is this to replace that? And is it actually a spell or careful disguising (ie. make-up, wig, etc.)? I'm basing the questions a lot of this being magical, since most requests I saw seemed like that... Next, a request here needs two things: 1. RP (reason why your character can do that, how he learned to, stuff like that) 2. DCs (These would still need to be paid) So, will being an Assassin be a valid reason WHY he can do that? As in, he learned magic due to being an Assassin, now he can cast Alter Self? (Still fleshing out the RP with some stuff that's nice to read, like training from a mage or a fellow Assassin, would of course improve the request) => Essentially, what I'm asking is if an Assassin will have an easier time requesting this than any other player. And, these are supposed to be questions, even though they sound a lot like statements. I have no idea about rules here, just to clarify that. Also, do the "mechanically represented" or the "PnP" rules apply? (Do I need player consent?) Would being altered limit one OOC in any way? (Would resting un-Alter-Self? Would there be a problem with weapons if there would be a change in size? Racial gates? Does it make a difference at all during combat?) (I just love brackets)EDIT: Also, is there a duration?

There is however a short sword model of it as well NC but traditionally they are more like long swords but used more like axes.

If they are both this problematic, I will probably go for other weapon RDDSince the AC is reduced, when does RDD get AC? And I assume RDD does not get that 10th level str bonus? Do I have to make request for change of "color" in request forum or rather just try catching DM IG?

You don't need to make a request for change of color for your RDD on the forums unless it's something non standard. Go ahead and use a different weapon and don't be awesome that's your decision! :p
You don't get the RDD strength at 10, you end up with 4 at 4 levels which makes dumping into the class much more impactful and economic than going 10 levels.

In the requestable feats on items list, it says you can get a DC item with "Sneak attack (max 1d6)". Now, this is completely terrible for most characters who would like to sneak attack (and anyone who even dumped rogue). So, is there any chance for someone to intead request "Sneak Attack, Blackguard 1d6" on an item, since that is the same (1d6 (extra) damage on a sneak attack), but still stacks with normal sneak attack gained from rogue? Or is this purposefully a we-don't-want-to-help-rogues thing? Or are rogues just supposed to get the epic feat that does that?
(As always, I am assuming there is RP reason etc. behind it)

I would personally be amenable to selecting the type of sneak attack that would stack with what you already have - not much point in putting it on a DC item if it doesn't do anything.

Is there a way of added permanent light to an item i have crafted in game through the craft system or is it something i may have to request and use a DC for?

There are light gems you can use on equipment to add light. I think the orange gem is sold in Cordor market hall. The rest are probably random drops.

Certain characters in game can create light gems of any colour for you.
And they do add permanent light.

If you don't want to deal with said certain characters, they've all always been available in game from drops, though. It's nothing exclusive.

I was curious if it was doable without a request, which it clearly is. It is more of an OOC addition to the item really to highlight its personal description. Certainly an item with a sustained light property would hinder a stealth type character, like who it is intended for.

Reading requests forum I wonder: What would happen if two players would have the same type familiar, name it the same and play it as one familiar? Of course only one of them would summon it at one specific moment.

Yes, but if you have two mages and both will have their own familiar of same type (pixie) named in the same way (Dixie), you could effectively play pixie Dixie with both chars. All you would have to do would just be checking if the other mage is playing to keep only one pixie Dixie in the game (though no system prevents both instances of pixie Dixie to be summoned).

That also couldn't be a Familiar due to the bond Pigeon mentioned. It theoretically could work as a mundane pet, though, IMO.

When I'm in Fey wild shape form on corxak the cordor guards know I'm "polymorphed" even though I'm using wild shape which is not penetrateable. Considering other pixie characters come and go as they please is there anyway around shifting out to get in the city I could do do or use, or do I just have to accept the cordor Guards can detect my wild shape?

Additionally the form only has a sling and 99 mundane bullets. Then I'm guessing ill have to shift as iirc it can't unequip or reequip ammo.
Any chance of getting an infinite ammo sling for use with this class feature?

I just tried out Painter job with just rank 1. I created succesfully painting however I noticed there is no custom description as I've seen with other painting. Do I have to have higher rank to write down description or do I have to have another job as well?

For the painting you need to use the scribe job. However you don't need any ranks within the job to modify the description of items you only need to go to the appropriate desk and spam the command in chat (given your low success rate) until it is successful. You can find such a desk upstairs in the library of Cordor East, can't remember its exact name.

Are there any new, non-base-NWN ioun stones? I thought I heard of a +sneak one, but I wanted to ask before asking for one in auctions.
Also, another question. I saw this in a thread from 2010, so I'm not sure if this is up to date, but I guess asking is free. I read about poisons for Assassins only, that ignore poison immunity. It seems a bit weird, also considering the nice bonuses for Assassin, but I thought I'd ask.
Last question: The plant poisons. Is it just my weird testing or are they actually programmed to always poison you when served in a drink? It seems like a thing a character would know, since even DCs should be measurable in some way IC...

There are 3 non-base NWN ioun stones. Quote: I read about poisons for Assassins only, that ignore poison immunity. It seems a bit weird, also considering the nice bonuses for Assassin, but I thought I'd ask. I don't recall anything about this. The Murder Assassin tech bypasses Death immunity, though. Quote: Last question: The plant poisons. Is it just my weird testing or are they actually programmed to always poison you when served in a drink? It seems like a thing a character would know, since even DCs should be measurable in some way IC... Not sure, have never messed around much with the plant poisons. Wouldn't be surprised if the ingested version was designed to autowork, given the difficulty of getting another player to actually drink it.

Hehe, Tormak... viewtopic.php?f=54&t=49934&p=824219#p824219TormakSaber wrote: With 11 new poisons and abilities that circumvent poison immunty, I doubt you'll need this. Well, I was wondering what that meant. But it might be too old... Or I might be crazy and not understanding it correctly.

That's referring to the assassin techs, yeah. They are all abilities that aren't coded to be poisons in the system, so they bypass poison immunity - because they aren't technically poisons. I could see how that might be confusing.

As a level 25 ranger and able to cast all my, though admittedly small, circle of spells... should i be able to use Cats Grace scrolls? The description says its a level 2 ranger spell... yet i can't use it. I can use other spell scrolls that i can naturally cast but not that one for some reason.

Scrolls work with the usual class restrictions shown in the item properties. They don't care about your known spells at all. A Cats Grace scroll should be usable by rangers, unless NWNwiki is mistaken or somehow Amia goofed up the item. (Or, unlikely, you have a weird scroll that isn't the typical item.) Regards Ts

Regards Ts Available from all good or bad scroll and item sellers. I was looking through the scrolls and found polymorph self which is ranger level 4 and coud cast it, yet a bought cats grace scroll isn't useable.

If the scroll doesn't have "ranger only" on it, you can't cast it, as Ts_ said.
